Danielle Ortega, D.O.Family Medicine | Wellstar Princeton Lakes Dr. Ortega also serves on the Primary Care & Medicine Service Line Advisory Council and the SOGIE Taskforce and is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Dr. Ortega is passionate about making Epic work better for providers and staff. A recent review of Epic Signal data identified her as one of Wellstar’s highest-proficiency ambulatory Epic users. Across more than 2,000 ambulatory providers, Dr. Ortega achieved a July Epic Proficiency score of 9.9 out of 10. Her workflow reflects strong use of personalization tools, including diagnosis and level- of-service speed buttons. I’m very passionate about efficiency and making the system work for the staff and providers. I’ve learned more than a few new tricks from the Epic efficiency courses. PDMP Training Now AvailableProviders are required to check the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) before prescribing Schedule II opioids and/or benzodiazepines. This new course reviews when PDMP query and review are required, how to access PDMP from the Controlled Meds tab in Epic, and how to document review. Ambulatory Epic Education | August 2026 Epic Education | Wellstar Health System | August 2026 Documentation & Privacy Reminders Documentation Updates Behavioral Health: Marking Notes as SensitiveFor Behavioral Health documentation, mark notes as Sensitive when they should not be shared with non-Behavioral Health users. Use the lock icon in the note to apply the Sensitive designation. Once marked as Sensitive, the note is labeled in the chart so users can identify that additional privacy controls have been applied. Focus on the questions that apply to the patient and situation. A new Provider Communication section is available in all therapy plans to support clearer communication between ordering and treating providers. Use this section to document relevant provider-to-provider communication directly within the therapy plan workflow. Ambulatory Epic Education | August 2026 Workflow Reminders Clinical Workflow Clarifications A few important reminders to help support accurate documentation and efficient workflows. PROMs Reminder PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) help capture orthopedic patients' perspectives on pain, function, and recovery before and after hip and knee replacement surgery. When completing pre-op or post-op PROMs questionnaires, not every question is required. Complete the questions that are applicable to the patient and the situation.

When charges require co-sign, clinicians can now review charges dropped during the encounter directly from In Basket before completing the co-sign workflow.1

3Beginning August 13, a new ServiceNow form will be available to request provider fax number additions and provider communication preference updates in Epic. Use this form when transcribing an order into Epic and the ordering or authorizing provider does not have a fax number listed. If the fax number is available on the paper order, submit the form to request that it be added to Epic. This helps ensure results and clinical communications are routed correctly and delivered to the provider who ordered or authorized the service. How to complete the form: Submit the request through ServiceNow here. If the provider’s NPI is not listed on the paper order, click here to use the NPI Registry to look it up before submitting the request.A new Ambulatory Referral to Endocrine Surgery (REF322) order is now available. Use this order when referring patients to Endocrine Surgery. The referral will route to the WMG SURG GS COBB – REFERRED TO (PARENT) (4221) referral work queue.
