BEYOND THE BLUE AND YELLOW:The Class of 2026 Steps into the Unwritten Lyrha Sipsip B What’s Inside? y the destruction of distance and time, a single moment can define an entire generation. For the Senior High School and Tertiary graduates of STI College Tagum, that definitive moment has finally arrived, casting a brilliant light over the culmination of the 2025–2026 academic year. Clad in their crisp uniforms and flowing graduation gowns, these students find themselves caught between two worlds. Behind them lies the familiar sanctuary of the campus a labyrinth of corridors that witnessed countless sleepless nights, frantic exam cramming, and the shared laughter of a chosen family. Ahead lies a vast, unpredictable global landscape demanding the exact competencies they have spent years forging, proving that they are not merely leaving an institution, but moving forward into an unwritten future. For the Senior High School graduates, this commencement marks the end of an intense, transformative prelude to ambition. Entering the doors of STI Tagum two years ago, many were uncertain teenagers trying to find their footing in specialized technical- vocational and academic strands. As they receive their diplomas, these young leaders are not just completing a curriculum; they are claiming their absolute readiness for higher education and the global industries that await them. A few rows over, the Tertiary graduates look out into the crowd with a deeper, more heavy gravity. For them, this day is the ultimate culmination of a long and profound sacrifice, where their college years served as a trial by fire in adaptation. Behind every degree conferred today is a silent story of collective struggle: a parent working long hours overseas, a family tightening its belt, or an independent student balancing exhausting shifts with early morning classes. The tears shed during the singing of the alma mater hymn carry the weight of those quiet battles and the immense triumph of conquering them. They proved that excellence is not a localized event, but a habit formed daily within the walls of their campus. As the traditional turning of the tassels takes place, the academic dividing line between Senior High School and College entirely dissolves into a single, collective identity of triumph. They are now, unforgettably, the alumni of STI College Tagum. 4 CENTERFOLD How STIers Defined the Season of Giving 11 ACHIEVEMENTS STIERS ACHIEVEMENTS AY 2025 - 2026 Connect with STI College Tagum: (084) 227-0459 admissions.office@tagum.sti.ph facebook.com/tagum.sti.edu 33 NEWS TAGISAN NG TALINO ACHIEVERS NEWS TAGISAN NG TALINO ACHIEVERS 4 EDITORIAL WHAT IS TROPHY WITHOUT SAGE
Party Lights and New Beginnings: STI Tagum Ignites Social Night 2025 Alexa Ompad Pescador, a Grade 12 student, Social Night is not only about dressing up, but also about making memories with your classmates. “To future students, try to talk to more people, have fun, and appreciate the time you have together because it goes by quickly,” he followed. As Social Night 2025 came to an end, students left with unforgettable memories and renewed enthusiasm for the months ahead, serving a platform for unity and school spirit. Held at STI College Campus Gym on August 16, 2025, the spectacular event served as a welcome highlight, allowing students to socialize and ease into the campus life, brought by the Office of Student Affairs. This reflected the institution’s commitment to foster the school spirit among its diverse student body. One of the night’s major attractions was the Camera 360 setup, where students struck their best poses for a reel solo or with their peers, capturing memorable moments to commemorate the start of their academic journey. The excitement continued with the highly awaited Foam and Rave Party that energized the crowd with electrifying beats, vibrant lights, and lively-slippery dance floor with an atmosphere filled with laughter. Mr. Kent Casiro, a newly- hired teacher at the institution, confessed that his first experience in social night was both exciting and a bit overwhelming. At first, he felt shy and unsure of how to interact, but as the night went on he gradually became more comfortable. Throughout, It made him realize the importance of stepping out of the comfort zone and being present, as these experiences create meaningful memories and connections. STI College Tagum officially kicked off the academic year with a burst of color, camaraderie, and school spirit during its much- anticipated annual Social Night. The event brought together a vibrant mix of new and returning faces from both the Senior High School and College departments, alongside the institution's faculty. Vibrant colors and powerful voices filled the STI College Tagum gym on August 15, 2025, as the academic community officially launched this year’s Buwan ng Wika celebration. Centered on the theme “Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayang Pagkakaisa ng Bansa,” the event served as a poignant reminder that the Filipino language is not just a school subject, but the bridge connecting the nation’s history to its future. It wasn’t just a school requirement; it was a way for everyone to remember that our language is what connects our past to our future. The Poster-Making Contest was one of the big highlights. Where students were focused, hunched over their desks and using different art tools to bring the theme to life. Their drawings showed that even if we speak different local languages, we are still united. One of the highlights is the Spoken Poetry. The participants didn't just read lines; they shared how they felt about being Filipino. Later, the mood lightened up when a singing duo performed OPM hits, and the whole gym was cheering for them. The energy stayed high for the “Makalumang Tugtog sa Bagong Yugyog” dance competition. It was cool to see how students mixed old- school folk music with modern dance moves. It really drove home the point that our roots aren't "old news" they're still very much a part of our daily lives. The Naisatañera Theater group was another huge highlight. The student actors didn’t just memorize lines; they acted out stories about the things we all go through and the values we grew up with. "Our culture isn’t just something we study for a grade; it's the very thing that keeps our history alive today," noted the organizers. As the day wrapped up, it was clear that the event was more than just a requirement on the school calendar. By bringing students together through art, speech, and dance, STI College Tagum proved that heritage and language remain the strongest anchors of the Filipino spirit in the modern world. news The Official Student Publication of STI College Tagum Volume I. Schools exist to prepare individuals to become a functional part of society. Yet in an environment where there is a little to no stage for students to test their goals and expand their ability, what is a trophy when there is no ground for self- discovery? Many students are capable, eager, and willing. Talent does not disappear because it remains unseen—it is the push to greatness that was missing. Every year, many doors open to those students who yearn for growth. The District Schools Press Conference, the Science and Mathematics contest, School Leagues, Tournaments, even City-Wide youth development. Activities outside school are mere more than just achievement or representation. It is a stage where we can build confidence, learn, adapt, and reach for the greater. STI’s Tagisan competitions serve their purpose—to cater excellence within our ground. However, we cannot remain comfortable in this soil. Limits are just a reflection of the room we are in. When opportunities are lacking, students remain confined, unable to test our skills with broader standards or discover strengths we never knew we had. Many may quickly label students who participate less as “inactive”—therefore, creating an image that they are not interested, but interested in knowing. Organizing student participation in outside competitions does present challenges. Budget limitations, safety concerns, and academic priorities. Each of these is important and needs to be considered, but not being able to fully realize all potential opportunities does not mean that we should stop providing them to us students. Small changes can lead to excellence. Utilizing things as simple as creating a consistent flow of information, seeking mentors, encouragement, and providing selective participation in competitions. Lead us. Make us a stage to engrave your name in our trophies. What is a Trophy Without a Stage 4 Connect with STI College Tagum: (084) 227-0459 admi
echoes BITES BEYOND BUDGET 5 The school canteen is a place where students take breaks to refresh and recharge their tired minds and hungry stomachs. Its purpose is to provide efficiency by offering quick meals, especially during short breaks between classes. This limits the students’ freedom of choice or their right to buy meals that are much cheaper. It removes practical options and creates financial burden, as they will be forced to buy food from the school canteen where prices are often higher. This rule does not only restrict their options, but also ignores the struggling realities and personal circumstances students deal with daily. The students complained time and time again, yet the situation remains the same. It is acknowledged that this problem is not born from greed; it grows from the rising prices and operational expenses. This is not an attack but rather a demand to those who hold the reins to take actions. To provide a solution that lets students afford meals, while making sure that the canteen workers are not left at a loss. Balanced, fair, and practical. Volume I. Issue I | Academic Year 2025 - 2026 But how are students supposed to feel this comfort and convenience when even a small drink and a simple snack cost more than expected? Many students have limited allowance, so they expect to buy food that is within their budget. However, the high prices in the school canteen make it harder for students to cover the costs. Every so often, circumstances force them to settle only for snacks they can afford even when these do not satisfy their hunger. Sometimes, they are also left with no option but to skip meals or leave empty-handed, feeling the emptiness in their stomachs. And most times, they have to decide between saving money or quenching their appetite. This issue drives them to look for cheaper alternatives, opting to go to nearby sari-sari stores outside the school that sell at lower prices. But there were instances where students were not allowed to bring food brought from outside the school, which seems to be unfair and overly restrictive. blaring THE IRONY OF UNSTABLE INTERNET CONNECTION IN A TECH-FOCUSED SCHOOL In this modern world, where technology rapidly evolves, having access to the internet has become essential, especially for students. From relying on manila paper for presentations to utilizing various editing applications. From taking handwritten assessments to submitting assignments through online platforms. This significant shift to digital methods in education highlights the importance of having dependable internet connection. STI College is known for its technology-related education. With this, many might assume that their campuses are well equipped with advanced technological resources and reliable internet access. But in STI College Tagum, students have been consistently complaining about the inaccessibility of the school’s Wi-Fi. Numerous QR codes are posted throughout the school, providing the network name and password intended for student use. Yet, the connection often proves unreliable. Frequently slow, unstable, or at times, completely nonfunctional. This problem is not only inconvenient, but it could also affect students’ productivity and overall academic performance. In a school that promotes technological advancement, having a stable internet connection should not be a privilege but rather a necessity. Addressing this concern means upholding their reputation in providing students with the quality education that they are promised. editorial ions.office@tagum.sti.ph facebook.com/tagum.sti.edu Kyth Precious S. 6 Of Pages and Presence; How STIers Defined the Season of Giving Lyrha Sipsip Amidst the hustle and bustle of classrooms, noses-down in books during exam season, rests a very special spirit at STI College Tagum and can be best witnessed during the holidays. Its essence reflects the idea that helping others is the greatest way to rejoice. A group of educators and students made the decision earlier this month to give local children access to the most wonderful time of the year. To demonstrate that no one is ever too young to make a difference, a convoy of hope drove to Mangga Elementary School and the Atiman Center, exchanging pens for gifts. This endeavor was more than just a gift distribution; it was a collaborative work of love. Under the guidance of Tefan Leigh Lancita, the Head of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), spearheaded the program, which became a tapestry weaved by numerous hands. The PEER Club, the BTLED Program, and the TLE Club teamed up to transform the campus into a generosity workshop weeks before the event. Every gift wrapped and donation collected contained a subtle promise: the spirit of Christmas is most palpable when shared. "We wanted to ensure that the spirit of the season wasn't just something they heard about, but something they could actually feel," one of the student organizers remarked, reflecting on the weeks of preparation. At the Atiman Center, the air seemed dense with a delicate sort of magic. For children facing uncertain futures, the coming of the STI team meant more than simply parcels; it meant a sense of belonging. The exchange of a gift served as a bridge, connecting the hearts of the adolescents who gave and the children who received. The expedition continued to Mangga Elementary School, when the atmosphere transformed into a lively celebration. The sound of laughing boomed over the school grounds as the crew handed out gifts that generated immediate wonder. "Seeing their smiles makes every late night of packing and every bit of effort completely worth it. It’s a reminder of why we do this." a volunteer from the PEER Club noted. As the sun set, the volunteers from STI College Tagum left more than just physical gifts; they left a legacy of warmth and the promise of future compassion. The genuine highlight of the outreach was found in the tiny details, a young hand gripping a new toy and student leaders sharing glances as they realized the impact of their efforts. The message from the institution's heart is clear: Christmas is found in the joy we bring to others. Connect with STI College Tagum: (084) 227-0459 adm fea
issions.office@tagum.sti.ph facebook.com/tagum.sti.edu ure The Heart of a Leader:STIers Journey to the Center of Service Lyrha Sipsip She stepped into the grand halls of City Hall not as a tourist, but as a girl ready to carry the weight of her city’s future. As the 2025 Junior City Budget Officer, she traded her quiet student life for a seat at the table where the biggest decisions are made. Out of all the students in the city, she was one of only fifty chosen to see the truth behind the closed doors of government. She calls the journey "humbling and fulfilling," a rare chance to see that leading people is much harder than it looks in books. Working in the Budget Office, she worked with Ma’am Karen Gentles. In her experience, every penny spent by the city government has its own face and story attached to it. She learned that leadership isn’t about always being the smartest one in the group but rather having the big heart in paying attention to the tiniest detail of things. With the mentoring of Ma’am Karen, she realized that great service is done with the combination of two important elements, namely: a clear mind and a passionate soul. She wasn’t just content sitting on a comfortable chair because she went out to places where no one dares to go. From the silent corridors of the Atiman Center up to the walls of the city jail, she met the real people living and thriving in Tagum. She even ventured to the city landfill where she learned that a great leader isn’t afraid of getting dirty just to learn how to make his/her city neat and clean. In big meetings with Sir Edu Macabatas and wise panels, she found the courage to speak her own ideas for a better world. The experiences she had met and the stories she had heard inspired her to aim higher and become more driven than before. Through this experience, she found new opportunities wherein she will continue to make an impact even beyond the term of the program. Representing STI Tagum was a heavy task, but she carried it with a smile, proving that age is just a number when it comes to service. During her last days at the Leadership Training Program, she was able to look within and realize who a real leader really is. She entered as a hopeful student; however, she came out as a leader who has learned the secret to elevating oneself through empowering others. 7

Our athletes who will be representing us this coming May are at the top of what we can call as student- athlete dedication. Our athletes have earned this huge chance due to our athletics department’s dedication in honing them for competition through strategic vision. The fact that they are taking part in the global stage is indeed a perfect example of how our students are molded into becoming future leaders who are globally competitive.
