Bridge School Grade 1 English Student Workbook Part 1

A full-year English workbook for Grade 1 students at Bridge School, designed for early literacy through play, speaking, sounds, reading and writing.

This is a full-year English student workbook for Grade 1 at Bridge School, prepared by Dr. Abera Legesse. It is designed for young learners beginning English through play, speaking, listening, sounds, reading and writing. The workbook includes self-assessment checklists and space for student name, teacher and school year.

The workbook has two parts. Part 1 covers 36 units starting with greetings, classroom language, body parts, family, colors, shapes and numbers 1 to 10. Each unit introduces new vocabulary, listening and speaking activities, tracing, drawing and simple exercises.

Later units cover toys, animals, food and drinks, clothes, home, school things, opposites (big/small, in/on, up/down, happy/sad), daily actions, weather, nature, community helpers, transport and safety words. Each unit follows a consistent structure with new words, listen-and-learn sections, try-it activities and check-my-learning boxes.

The final units introduce individual letters A through Z, beginning sounds review, early reading and writing, and an end-of-year review. The workbook emphasizes oral language development, picture talk, movement activities and early letter awareness alongside tracing and writing practice.
