About Kerrville Pets Alive!Kerrville Pets Alive! was founded in 2019 with a clear and urgent mission: to save Kerr County pets from euthanasia.About Kerrville Pets Alive!The Fur Ball is the lifeline that makes this work possible. This annual event directly funds the care, treatment, and resources that both homeless and owned pets rely on to survive and thrive. Every dollar raised translates into lifesaving action-whether it's an emergency surgery, a vaccine, or support for a family to keep their pet at home.At the time, more than 1,000 animals were being lost per year at Kerr County Animal Control (KCAC), largely due to lack of space and resources. Today, through sustained community effort and strategic intervention, euthanasia rates have been reduced by 90 percent - transforming the outlook for pets across Kerr County.Equally important, we prevent shelter intake by supporting pet owners directly. Kerrville Pets Alive!, invests more than $300,000 annually into medical care, vaccines, trauma support, and spay/neuter services for owned pets in Kerr County-ensuring families can keep their animals, safe, healthy, and out of the shelter.Our work is intentionally twofold - focused on both the shelter system and the community - to create lasting, sustainable change.We work with Kerr County Animal Control (KCAC) and provide critical funding - averaging approximately $80,000 annually - for medical care, spay and neuter services, emergency surgeries, vaccines, microchips, and essential equipment for impounded animals. In addition, our volunteers serve 365 days a year, socializing pets, coordinating transport to veterinary care, and connecting animals with rescue partners.This dual approach supporting both KCAC and the community-is what keeps euthanasia rates low, stabilizes the local pet population, and strengthens the quality of life across Kerr County.
