12 5.0 PUBLISHING Everyone dreams of achieving success and I am no exception. My biggest dream is to own a guava farm with one hundred healthy trees and one day turn it into a successful business. When I first started this journey, I had no knowledge or experience in farming but I was excited to give it a try. I believed everyone has to start somewhere even if they know nothing in the beginning. Although many people were doubtful about my decision, I never wanted to give up before trying. I knew every challenge would teach me something valuable and I believed hard work could help me achieve my dream. Looking back, this journey has made me stronger and more confident than before. I started my journey by planting thirty guava seedlings and I felt excited every time I visited my small farm. During the first month, the trees looked healthy so I believed everything was going according to my plan. Unfortunately, I used the wrong chemical fertilizer because I did not know the correct type and quantity. Within a few days, the leaves turned yellow and every tree died. I didn't expect that all my hard work would disappear so quickly. At one point, I even thought about giving up. However, I realised that failure didn't make me weaker. Instead, it encouraged me to find more knowledge and improve my farming skills. After losing all my guava trees, I searched for information through agricultural websites because I wanted to understand what had happened. I spent many evenings reading about fertilizers, soil management and planting techniques. Then, I bought new seedlings and planted them again with more confidence. Sadly, after about three months the trees died once more before I even had the chance to fertilize them. I could not understand what had happened so I continued doing more research. Later, I discovered that the excessive chemical fertilizer had damaged the soil. This experience taught me an important lesson and I began to realise that healthy plants needed healthy soil to grow well. Once the soil had recovered, I planted another batch of guava seedlings and hoped everything would finally be better. At first, the trees looked healthier and I felt much more confident than before. I watered them every day because I thought more water would make them grow faster and stronger. Unfortunately, I was wrong again. After several weeks, many of the trees were damaged because the roots became rotten due to too much water. I didn't realise that too much care could also harm the plants. This experience taught me that farming is not only about hard work but also
13 about making the right decisions at the right time Rather than giving up after another failure, I realised that I needed guidance from someone who had more experience than me. I contacted an experienced guava farmer through TikTok and asked him many questions about planting, fertilizing, watering and pest control. He shared many useful tips and I carefully followed every piece of advice he gave me. My trees started growing much better and I felt more confident than before. Sadly, I accidentally used the wrong pesticide and several trees died again. I didn't let this mistake stop me because I believed every failure gave me another opportunity to learn. So, I continued searching for knowledge through Google, ChatGPT and agricultural websites. As time went by, I spent almost all of my savings on my farming project because I wanted to achieve my dream. Since my savings were almost finished, I applied for assistance from the Kelantan Department of Agriculture. Although my application is still being processed, the agricultural officers regularly visited my farm and shared many useful farming techniques with me. I listened carefully to every suggestion they gave because I knew they had more experience than me. Their guidance gave me more confidence and I slowly became a better farmer. Every visit made me realise that learning from experienced people was one of the best decisions I had ever made. Today, after one and a half years of facing many challenges and failures, nearly all of my one hundred guava trees are healthy and have started producing fruit. I hope I can sell my guavas within the next year and finally make my dream come true. Looking back, every mistake has taught me something valuable and has made me a stronger person. Without those experiences, I would never have gained the knowledge and confidence that I have today. This journey has shown me that success is not about being perfect, but about learning, improving, and never giving up. ( 769 WORDS )
