The community feedback was so great, that we decided to “run it back” one more Ɵme! Last year, we raised money for the Tampa Alumni Guide Right FoundaƟon, celebrated community heroes, and danced the night away! This year, we plan to do more of the same to help more kids, support more community programs, and improve our region. The Tampa Alumni Chapter is the oldest NaƟonal Panhellenic Council organizaƟon in Tampa Bay and we are proudly celebraƟng 98 years of achievement! From hosƟng the very first Southern Province Council MeeƟng in 1951 to a historic Grand Chapter MeeƟng in 2023 – the Tampa Alumni chapter’s place in Kappa history is undeniable. With more than 30 years of credit union, financial, and business experience, Melva McKay-Bass is the Chief Business and Community Development Officer of Suncoast Credit Union. McKay-Bass began her career at Suncoast Credit Union in 2000, in branch operations and consumer lending, where she got to experience the credit union difference and develop her passion for all things Suncoast. McKay-Bass worked in a variety of leadership roles at Suncoast Credit Union, including Senior Vice President of Member Service Operations, overseeing departments such as Risk Management, Fraud and Loss, Teller Operations, and Deposit Services. She also previously served as a branch manager, loan officer, and regional vice president. As Chief Business and Community Development Officer McKay-Bass’ areas of responsibility include oversight of Suncoast Wealth Management Services, the Community and Youth Outreach teams, the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation, Economic Development divisions, Corporate Partnerships and Credit Union Service Organizations, including the Members Title Agency, Members Insurance Center, and Suncoast Realty Solutions, LLC. Beyond her business development duties, McKay-Bass utilizes her dynamic skill set to directly give back to the community. She serves as a member of the Freddie Solomon Boys and Girls Club Advisory Board, is a member of the United Way Suncoast Board, Board member of Opportunity Tampa Bay, Board member of the Skills Center and advisory board member of the Members Trust Company. She is also a graduate of Leadership Tampa Bay class of 2016 and a 2024 Onyx Magazine Woman on the Move Honoree. McKay-Bass is a native Floridian. She is a proud graduate of Leto High School in Tampa and a Florida A&M University, alumni of the School of Business and Industry, where she earned her degree in accounting. Upon graduation, she immediately began her career at SunTrust Bank before transitioning to Suncoast. She made history at Suncoast Credit Union as not only the youngest senior vice president ever at the time of her appointment in 2006, but also as the first woman of color to serve as branch manager, vice president, senior vice president and in her current role as chief. As an advocate for the credit union difference, McKay-Bass believes credit unions make a true difference in the lives of members. When she isn’t helping members save more for life, McKay-Bass enjoys spending time with family, mentoring and developing children and young professionals, and exercising. She is a proud wife and mother of two wonderful daughters. Jerry Bell is a former NFL tight end who played five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, earning a reputation as a dependable presence on the field and a respected leader in the locker room. During his playing career, he served as both team captain and Player Representative to the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), representing fellow players during a pivotal period in the league's history. Those experiences laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to leadership, advocacy, and service. A California native, Jerry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Arizona State University, where he developed the discipline, resilience, and work ethic that became hallmarks of both his athletic and professional careers. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tampa, further strengthening his business acumen and preparing him for long-term success beyond professional football. Following his transition from the NFL, Jerry built a distinguished career spanning more than three decades in the information technology industry. As a senior sales executive, he became known for driving revenue growth, building strategic enterprise relationships, and delivering innovative technology solutions to complex business challenges. His expertise includes enterprise solution sales, business development, executive engagement, and contract negotiation. Throughout his career, he consistently ranked among the organization's top performers, earning numerous sales awards while demonstrating excellence in pipeline development, forecasting accuracy, and disciplined execution. Today, Jerry serves as a business consultant, advising organizations on navigating an ever-evolving technology landscape while aligning innovation with strategic business objectives. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry has dedicated himself to developing leaders and strengthening communities. He is the Founder of the Black Leadership Network, an organization committed to advancing professional development, mentorship, networking, and access to opportunities for diverse talent. Through this initiative, he has helped cultivate emerging leaders while fostering meaningful relationships across the business and civic communities. Jerry also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the ReliaQuest Bowl, helping guide one of college football's premier postseason events. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the AdventHealth Foundation, supporting initiatives that improve community health and wellness. In addition, he remains deeply connected to the NFL community as a board member and Senior Advisor to the NFL Players Association, where he mentors former players as they successfully transition from professional sports to their next chapter. Throughout his career, Jerry has been recognized with numerous awards honoring his leadership, professional achievement, and community service. His honors include the Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero Award, the University of South Florida Alumni Association Class of '56 Award, the University of South Florida President's Distinguished Citizen Award, U.S. Representative Kathy Castor's Black History Month Award, and recognition by AT&T during its 31st Annual Black History Month Celebration for his outstanding achievements and contribu- tions, among many others. Jerry is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, having been initiated on May 12, 1979. He continues to exemplify the fraternity's enduring principles of achievement, service, and leadership in every as- pect of his life. Jerry credits much of his success to the values instilled by his family and the lessons learned through athletics— discipline, perseverance, resilience, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Those principles continue to guide his leadership in business, his service to the community, and his passion for helping others reach their full potential. Jerry and his wife, Ruth, have been married since June 1984. They are the proud parents of their daughter, Vanessa, and son, David, and are the grateful grandparents of two grandchildren.
Leader of the Florida House Democratic Caucus & Founder of ‘How We All Win’ Rep. Fentrice Driskell was elected to the Florida House in Novem- ber 2018. Leader Driskell proudly represents Florida’s 67th House District in the Florida House of Representatives. The district includes parts of Hillsborough County, including the Branchton, Thonotosassa, and Mango areas, up to the New Tampa, Tampa Palms areas, west to Temple Terrace, and the University of South Florida. Driskell's role as the Democratic Leader in the Florida House enables her to lead the fight for the House Dem- ocratic Caucus in The Florida Capitol. Previously, Leader Driskell was a clerk for the Honorable Anne C. Conway of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She worked as an attorney with the Carlton Fields law firm, and served as president of the George Edgecomb Bar Association. She now is a Partner at Swope, Rodante P.A. Leader Driskell also served as the Policy Chair on the House Democratic Caucus’ Leadership Team for the 2020-2022 Legislative Term. While still the Democratic Leader for the 2024-2026 term, Leader Driskell also serves on the Budget Committee as a Democratic Ranking Member and on the Security & Threat Assessment Committee. Leader Driskell holds a B.A. in Government from Harvard University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Leader Driskell lives in North Tampa, and in her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, spending time with family, and traveling.
The Tampa Alumni Guide Right Foundation was incorporated in 2004 and was designated as a 501(c)3, non-profit, in 2007. The Foundation serves as the philanthropic and charitable arm of the Tampa (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The Foundation’s programs embody all the aspects of the Fraternity’s national Guide Right program, with specific emphasis on mentoring, leadership development, and service to the community. The flagship initiative that offers such services is the “Kappa Leadership & Development League“, also known as “Kappa League”. Through our Kappa League program, as well as with the help of our donors, the Foundation has groomed the future leaders of our community. In other words, we’re “HELPING YOUNG MEN IN TAMPA ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS.” The purpose of the Foundation is to promote the cause of education, by facilitating and sponsoring distinctive, age-appropriate programs designed to provide life skills, educational resources, academic guidance, and financial support to youth in the Tampa Bay Area. The Foundation’s mission is to conduct activities and source financial capital for our academic enrichment, leadership development and scholarship programs, as well as our community outreach projects.
Joseph Greene aƩends Jule F. Sumner High School, where he has demonstrated excepƟonal academic achievement and a strong commitment to excellence. His dedicaƟon to rigorous coursework has earned him the presƟgious Cambridge AICE Diploma, disƟnguishing him among his peers. In addiƟon to his academic success, Joseph is acƟvely involved in organizaƟons such as the NaƟonal Honor Society and Key Club, reflecƟng his commitment to both scholarship and service. His accomplishments also include earning a place on the Dean’s List at Hillsborough Community College. Joseph is the recipient of this year’s Academic Scholarship, recognizing his hard work, discipline, and dedicaƟon to academic excellence. He plans to aƩend the University of South Florida to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering, where he will conƟnue to build on his strong academic foundaƟon and passion for innovaƟon.
Jacob Burke aƩends Tampa Preparatory School, where he has disƟnguished himself as both a student and athlete through performance, leadership, and dedicaƟon. A standout in track and field, Jacob has earned District Championships in the 200m and 400m, set a school record in the 400m, and placed 8th at the state level. As Track and Field Captain, he has demonstrated strong leadership, guiding his teammates while consistently compeƟng at a high level. His success extends beyond athleƟcs, as he has earned recogniƟon on the Honor Roll, Dean’s List, and Head of School List, along with the presƟgious William J. Angell Scholar Award for excellence in academics, leadership, and character. Outside of athleƟcs, Jacob is acƟvely involved in his school and community through organizaƟons such as the Black Student Union and his church’s teen ministry, where he contributes through leadership and service. Jacob is the recipient of this year’s AthleƟc Scholarship. He plans to conƟnue his academic and athleƟc journey at Morehouse College, where he will pursue a degree in Journalism.
Wilkie Pintro aƩends Tampa Bay Technical High School, where he has demonstrated the ability to balance academics, athleƟcs, and service throughout his high school career. Through his athleƟc journey in Taekwondo, Wilkie has developed a mindset rooted in focus, resilience, and self-control. His training and compeƟƟon experiences reflect his ability to remain composed under pressure while conƟnuously striving to improve. Beyond athleƟcs, Wilkie is involved in organizaƟons such as HOSA and has given back to his community through volunteer service with Metropolitan Ministries. He will graduate with honors, reflecƟng his strong commitment in the classroom. Wilkie is the recipient of this year’s AthleƟc Scholarship. He plans to conƟnue his academic journey at St. Petersburg College, where he will pursue a degree in Nursing.
Khloe Clay aƩends the Academy of the Holy Names, where she has demonstrated a strong commitment to service, compassion, and community impact. She has been acƟvely involved in numerous service-focused organizaƟons, including Jack and Jill of America, Mayor’s Youth Corps, and Community Tampa Bay programs. Through her role as Community Service Chair and other leadership posiƟons, Khloe has helped plan and lead iniƟaƟves that support families, children, and underserved communiƟes. Her dedicaƟon to service is further reflected in her role as Co-Founder of Origami Outreach, where she brings comfort and encouragement to individuals in hospitals and care faciliƟes through small acts of kindness. With over 500 hours of documented community service, Khloe has demonstrated a sustained commitment to making a difference. Her approach to service is rooted in empathy, responsibility, and a desire to create stronger, more connected communiƟes. Khloe is the recipient of this year’s Community Service Scholarship. She plans to aƩend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Morgan Berry aƩends Armwood High School, where she has demonstrated a strong commitment to service and community impact through leadership and consistent involvement. Through her work with Key Club, where she serves as Lieutenant Governor, Morgan has organized service iniƟaƟves, mentored fellow student leaders, and supported clubs across her division. Her leadership reflects both iniƟaƟve and a dedicaƟon to strengthening service efforts beyond her own school. Her commitment extends into the community through her role as a counselor with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, where she has guided younger students and helped connect others to volunteer opportuniƟes. Morgan’s approach to service is rooted in the belief that even small acts can create meaningful change and that true impact comes from upliŌing others and creaƟng opportuniƟes for those around her. Her efforts have been recognized through honors such as the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award. Morgan is the recipient of this year’s Community Service Scholarship. She plans to aƩend the University of South Florida to pursue a degree in Public Health/Nursing.
Adeola Adeyemo has demonstrated impacƞul leadership through vision, innovaƟon, and the ability to create meaningful change at scale. As Florida DECA ExecuƟve President, she has led more than 18,000 members across 28 counƟes, organizing large-scale conferences, expanding membership, and guiding iniƟaƟves that develop future leaders across the state. Her impact extends globally as the Founder and ExecuƟve Director of TalaNgAklat, an internaƟonal nonprofit focused on improving literacy in underserved communiƟes in the Philippines. Through her leadership, the organizaƟon has donated over 15,000 books, supported hundreds of students, and built partnerships with more than 20 organizaƟons, earning recogniƟon from the Philippine House of RepresentaƟves. Adeola’s leadership philosophy centers on empowering others, a principle she has applied across her work in business, technology, and community advocacy, including her roles on the Hillsborough County Superintendent and Mental Health Advisory Boards. Adeola is the recipient of this year’s Leadership Scholarship. She plans to pursue a degree in Finance and Computer Science at a top university, where she will conƟnue to lead, innovate, and expand access to opportunity.
Derrick Ervin aƩends Riverview High School, where he has demonstrated leadership through thoughƞulness, consistency, and the ability to create inclusive and collaboraƟve environments. As a Gaming Club Coordinator and Dungeon Master, Derrick leads his peers by organizing and facilitaƟng collaboraƟve experiences that require communicaƟon, creaƟvity, and problem-solving. He creates welcoming spaces where all parƟcipants feel valued, mentors fellow students, and fosters teamwork by ensuring every voice is heard. Derrick’s achievements extend beyond leadership, earning recogniƟon as an AP Scholar and receiving the College Board NaƟonal RecogniƟon Award, along with mulƟple industry cerƟficaƟons in web development, project management, and informaƟon technology. His ability to balance technical skill with interpersonal leadership reflects a well-rounded approach to growth and success. Derrick is the recipient of this year’s Leadership Scholarship. He plans to pursue a degree in Psychology, where he hopes to advocate for mental health awareness and support others through educaƟon and community engagement.
Isabella Mota aƩends Newsome High School, where she has demonstrated leadership through discipline, accountability, and a strong commitment to service. Through her extensive involvement in JROTC, Isabella has taken on mulƟple high-impact leadership roles within her baƩalion. As Rifle Team Captain, she leads and trains over twenty cadets, emphasizing precision, focus, and safety. Her leadership ensures that each team member understands the responsibility and discipline required, reflecƟng her ability to remain composed under pressure while guiding others with confidence. In addiƟon, Isabella serves as Special Projects Officer, where she coordinates large-scale events and oversees planning and execuƟon, and as Club President, leading meeƟngs and organizing service iniƟaƟves within both her school and the local community. Her achievements include recogniƟon as an AP Scholar with Honor, the Military Officers AssociaƟon of America JROTC Award, and the NaƟonal Flight Academy Aviator Wings Award, highlighƟng her academic and leadership excellence. Konrad Paradies aƩends Steinbrenner High School, where he has demonstrated leadership through his ability to lead by example, foster connecƟon, and build a strong sense of team. As Varsity Swim Captain, Konrad has played a key role in shaping a posiƟve and inclusive team culture. Through mentorship and encouragement, he has created an environment where teammates feel valued and moƟvated to succeed. His leadership extends beyond performance, focusing on building relaƟonships, strengthening team unity, and inspiring others to grow both individually and collecƟvely. In addiƟon to his athleƟc leadership, Konrad is acƟvely involved in Band, Model United NaƟons, and the NaƟonal Honor Society, and serves as a Sunday school class leader. His diverse involvement reflects a commitment to service, collaboraƟon, and personal development. Konrad is the recipient of this year’s Leadership Scholarship. He plans to aƩend the University of Tampa to pursue a degree in Finance.
Grady Blackmon aƩends Riverview High School, where he has developed both academically and personally, demonstraƟng leadership, discipline, and a strong commitment to service. During his Ɵme in Kappa League, Grady has grown from a reserved parƟcipant into an engaged and moƟvated young leader, gaining a deeper appreciaƟon for community, connecƟon, and service. One of his most impacƞul experiences was parƟcipaƟng in holiday turkey distribuƟons, which reinforced the importance of giving back and upliŌing others. Through these opportuniƟes, he has developed a strong sense of responsibility, Ɵme management, and the understanding that true leadership means stepping forward to support those around him. Beyond Kappa League, Grady is acƟvely involved in athleƟcs, serving as captain of his basketball team and earning varsity leƩers in basketball, golf, and track. His involvement in organizaƟons such as the NaƟonal Honor Society and H.Y.P.E. reflects his commitment to excellence and well-rounded achievement. Grady plans to aƩend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University to pursue a degree in AeronauƟcal Engineering.
Cameron Davis aƩends Tampa Bay Technical High School, where he has demonstrated consistent growth both personally and academically while developing into a confident and service-minded leader. Elected 1st Vice President, Cameron has taken on a significant leadership role, represenƟng Kappa League in the community and parƟcipaƟng in civic and cultural events such as the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinners and the TOBA Breakfast. These experiences have strengthened his professionalism, confidence, and understanding of service and community impact. His journey reflects a transiƟon from following the example of others to stepping confidently into leadership himself. One of Cameron’s most meaningful experiences was parƟcipaƟng in Kappa TV, where he stepped outside of his comfort zone to strengthen his public speaking skills. This accomplishment was especially significant as he worked to overcome a speech impediment. Through this and other experiences, Cameron now mentors younger members, offering guidance and encouragement as they find their own path. Beyond Kappa League, Cameron is acƟve in athleƟcs, parƟcipaƟng in baseball, cross country, and soccer, and has earned a welding cerƟficaƟon through his school’s program. Cameron plans to join the welding union while aƩending Hillsborough College to pursue a degree in Entrepreneurship.
Dakarai EvereƩ aƩends Spoto High School, where he has built a strong foundaƟon of leadership and character through service, accountability, and personal growth. Serving as Sergeant-at-Arms in Kappa League, Dakarai embraced the responsibility of maintaining order while holding himself and others to a higher standard. Through this role, he learned that leadership is not about authority, but about influence, discipline, and leading by example. His experience reinforced the importance of integrity, consistency, and personal accountability. Beyond Kappa League, Dakarai is acƟvely involved in his school and community, serving as captain of the tennis team and as a Color Guard Leader in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet program. He also volunteers with his church and organizaƟons such as Keep Tampa Bay BeauƟful and 4-H. Dakarai plans to pursue training through the University of Florida TREECO Program while serving in the U.S. Army, working toward a career as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and Firefighter.
Myles Hammond aƩends King High School, where he has demonstrated steady personal and academic growth while developing a leadership style rooted in consistency, accountability, and service. Through his experiences in Kappa League, Myles has parƟcipated in community service iniƟaƟves such as holiday toy drives, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of giving back and upliŌing others. These experiences reinforced his belief that leadership is not about recogniƟon, but about making a meaningful difference. Kappa League has also provided mentorship and posiƟve role models that have shaped his understanding of responsibility, discipline, and professionalism. Beyond Kappa League, Myles is a varsity basketball player and has earned High Honor Roll and Honor Roll recogniƟon. Myles plans to aƩend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University to pursue a degree in ConstrucƟon Engineering.
Kamari Johnson aƩends Kirkland Ranch Academy of InnovaƟon, where he has demonstrated growth as a student, athlete, and leader through discipline and consistency. Through Kappa League, Kamari has embraced accountability, preparaƟon, and intenƟonal goal seƫng. His experiences, including college tours and professional development opportuniƟes, have helped shape his vision for the future and strengthened his confidence. Kamari serves as Vice President of the Pan African Club and has been recognized as a three-Ɵme Homecoming King. As a mulƟ-sport athlete in track and field, basketball, and football, he has also earned the Ɵtle of three-Ɵme Regional Track Champion. Kamari plans to aƩend a four-year college to pursue a degree in Digital Media.
Meachi Kimble aƩends Tampa Preparatory School, where he has demonstrated leadership, iniƟaƟve, and a strong commitment to service. As the Founder and President of his school’s Kappa League chapter, Meachi created opportuniƟes for young men to grow through mentorship, service, and brotherhood. This experience required vision, organizaƟon, and the ability to inspire others. His most impacƞul experiences include serving at a homeless shelter and volunteering at the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner, where he gained a deeper understanding of empathy, dignity, and consistent service. Beyond Kappa League, Meachi is involved in basketball, swim, Model United NaƟons, FBLA, Black Student Union, and Student Council. His achievements include recogniƟon as a Most Improved Swimmer and an All-Tournament Athlete. Meachi plans to aƩend Husson University to study Computer Science and Law while conƟnuing his basketball career.
Quinten Lindsey aƩends Tampa Bay Technical High School, where he has focused on developing confidence, discipline, and leadership. Through Kappa League, Quinten has stepped outside of his comfort zone, building skills in public speaking, accountability, and leadership. His experiences have reinforced the importance of preparaƟon, consistency, and integrity. One of his most impacƞul experiences includes parƟcipaƟng in community service iniƟaƟves such as helping clean up the Tampa Bay area, which strengthened his understanding of service and community responsibility. Quinten plans to pursue both military service and higher educaƟon at Bethune-Cookman University, where he will study AccounƟng.
Edwin LoveƩ III is a graduaƟng senior at Strawberry Crest High School who has demonstrated growth, leadership, and a commitment to excellence throughout his high school career. As a four-year member of Kappa League, Edwin has consistently shown reliability, discipline, and strong character. He has served as Treasurer and has also stepped into the role of Vice President when needed, reflecƟng his willingness to lead, support others, and contribute to the success of the organizaƟon. His involvement highlights his ability to take iniƟaƟve and make a meaningful impact within his community. Edwin’s interests—including coding, basketball, music, fashion, and travel—reflect his creaƟvity, curiosity, and passion for conƟnuous learning and personal growth. This fall, Edwin will aƩend Saint Leo University, where he plans to pursue a degree in Cyber Security. Edwin is recognized as both a Heritage Awardee and Kappa League member and is the son of Eddie LoveƩ and Patrina LoveƩ, whose guidance and support have played an important role in his journey and conƟnued success.
Kalel MarƟnez aƩends Tampa Preparatory School, where he has demonstrated leadership, accountability, and a commitment to service. Serving as Vice President and Co-President of his school’s Kappa League chapter, Kalel has helped expand membership, organize service iniƟaƟves, and mentor fellow students. One of his most impacƞul experiences includes parƟcipaƟng in the MarƟn Luther King Jr. Day of Service, which reinforced his understanding of community impact and collecƟve service. Beyond Kappa League, Kalel is involved in varsity basketball and swim, Model United NaƟons, and serves as a Teen Ambassador for Meals on Wheels. Saxton Middlebrooks aƩends Newsome High School and has been involved in Kappa League for six years, demonstraƟng consistent growth in leadership and responsibility. Through the program, Saxton developed discipline, accountability, and confidence, growing from an observer into a leader. Serving as President, he led by example while mentoring younger members. His most impacƞul experiences include parƟcipaƟng in toy and food drives and supporƟng major community events such as the TOBA Breakfast and MarƟn Luther King Jr. Day Parade. Beyond Kappa League, Saxton is a varsity basketball player and team captain and is acƟvely involved in AAU basketball. He also gives back as a youth mentor and basketball camp volunteer and referee. Saxton plans to conƟnue his educaƟon at Hillsborough College.
Jaylen Norwood aƩends Tampa Bay Technical High School, where he has developed discipline, confidence, and leadership through consistency and service. Inspired by his grandfather, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Jaylen has learned the importance of holding himself to a high standard. Through Kappa League, he has grown into a dependable leader who leads by example. His involvement in academic challenges, mentorship opportuniƟes, and community service iniƟaƟves such as food drives and cleanups has strengthened his perseverance and commitment to giving back. Beyond Kappa League, Jaylen serves as JV Basketball Co-Captain. Jaylen plans to aƩend Hillsborough College before transferring to Florida A&M University to parƟcipate in NROTC and pursue a commission in the United States Navy.
Romeo Roberts aƩends Tampa Bay Technical High School and has developed a strong commitment to faith, service, and leadership. Through Kappa League, Romeo has been influenced by mentors who shared their experiences and helped broaden his perspecƟve on future opportuniƟes. These experiences reinforced his belief in using leadership as a plaƞorm to serve others. He has parƟcipated in service iniƟaƟves including Veterans Day flag placements, holiday outreach with Metropolitan Ministries, and community events focused on cultural awareness and history. Beyond Kappa League, Romeo is involved in football, basketball, student choir, men’s empowerment programs, and the NaƟonal Honor Society. He also serves as captain of the basketball team. Romeo plans to aƩend Florida A&M University to pursue a degree in Architecture.
Langston Sallis aƩends Tampa Preparatory School, where he demonstrates a strong commitment to leadership, academics, and service. At Tampa Prep, he serves as a varsity baseball captain, Red Shell Head, and student ambassador, while also parƟcipaƟng in Key Club and the Black Student Union. An honor roll student and self-taught pianist, Langston balances his academic and extracurricular commitments while remaining dedicated to serving others. Through Kappa League, Langston describes his growth as life-changing and eye-opening. He has developed a deeper understanding of accountability, leadership, and self-image, learning to carry himself with confidence, discipline, and purpose. His involvement extends beyond the classroom through organizaƟons such as Buddy Baseball, Jack and Jill of America, Tampa Delta EMBODI, Metropolitan Ministries, and Feeding Tampa Bay. Langston plans to aƩend a four-year university to study Business or Architecture.
Chase Temple aƩends St. Pete Collegiate High School, where he has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence. He is acƟvely involved in organizaƟons including Jack and Jill, NAACP, Tackle Hunger, NaƟonal Honor Society, League of Women Voters, and several youth development iniƟaƟves. Chase has held numerous leadership roles, including Regional Teen FoundaƟon Chair, Youth Council President, Community Service Chair, and Youth Ambassador to the ExecuƟve Board of Directors. He also serves as Youth Chair on the CareerSource Tampa Bay Youth Development CommiƩee. His achievements include the Watson L. Haynes Academic Achievement Award, the Dr. Vilma Fernandez Zalupski Award, the Rev. Dr. MarƟn Luther King Jr. Service Award, the Hershey’s Heartwarming Grant, and consistent Honor Roll recogniƟon. Through Kappa League, Chase has expanded his impact through service, including a project honoring fallen soldiers at a historic Black cemetery, deepening his understanding of history and legacy. Chase plans to aƩend Tuskegee University to study Mechanical Engineering.
Joel Washington aƩends Middleton High School, where he has focused on personal growth, service, and preparing for his future. Through his four years in Kappa League, Joel has developed leadership skills, discipline, and character. One of his most impacƞul experiences was visiƟng Historically Black Colleges and UniversiƟes, which broadened his perspecƟve on educaƟon and career opportuniƟes. Joel is involved in track at Middleton High School and competes in AAU track. He has also volunteered at the Skills Center, parƟcipated in the Junior Police Academy, and served the homeless. These experiences have reinforced the importance of discipline, accountability, and service. AŌer graduaƟon, Joel plans to aƩend trade school to pursue a career in Plumbing.
Quincey Watson aƩends Cypress Creek High School, where he has focused on leadership, personal growth, and preparing for a future in digital media. Since joining Kappa League in 2022, Quincey has developed a strong understanding of accountability, discipline, and leadership. One of his most impacƞul experiences was parƟcipaƟng in the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner, which reinforced the importance of service and professionalism. In addiƟon to Kappa League, Quincey is involved in First Tee of Tampa Bay, the NAACP, and the Toastmasters InternaƟonal Youth Leadership Program, where he serves as Social Society Club President. His growth has been recognized with the Kappa League of Fredericksburg Diamond in the Rough Award in 2023. Quincey plans to aƩend Beacon College to study Digital MulƟmedia.
