It features a mix of sin- gle-detached houses and mid-rise condominium, all in- tegrated within the site’s unique location and topography, along with a clubhouse, parks, and recreational facilities. The project aims to counter the negative trend of current met- ro manila luxury high-rise developments, which are criticized for increasing urban congestion, pollution, ignoring tropical climate and local culture in their design, promoting car de- pendency, and lacking comprehensive sustainability and re- silience features.
The project’s form concept is inspired by the traditional bas- ket weaving process of tarlac, this pattern best represents the concept of the project, cre- ating a harmonious and united space where users can build relationships with each other. The form was divided into two shapes to have a clear separa- tion between public and private areas, as well as to have a service access for utility areas. As the form rises, the floor were combined to create a shared space for the users and to cre- ate a harmonious experience. Three towers were erected to have a better air flow and light- ing, making sure that every ar- eas are well ventilated and lit. For a better connection and easy user flow between the three towers, connecting bridges were applied, so that users can easily navi- gate each shared spaces. The design concept symbolizes tarlac’s history of how it was formed. Tarlac served as a crossroads of central luzon, where continuous movement and settlement brought diverse groups into contact. Over time, these repeated encounters transformed the area from a place of passage into a shared community shaped by social in- teraction, collective experience, and evolving relationships. The main design concept, “stages of community life” aims to solve the problem of decaying quality of life by recreating the process of how a community is formed in tarlac. The designers want to em- phasize each phase or process of how a community is formed to better navigate the challenges, issues, and fulfill the needs of the community, which will help in improving their quality of life. As the community starts to form, the residential development project embodies the concept of harmony. By creating a balance and unity among its residents, the development promotes a harmonious and sustainable lifestyle.KRISTINE G. WATSON DESIGN CONCEPT FORM EVOLUTION
