BHUPENDRA SINGH PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE A mother once asked Albert Einstein: ‘How can I make my kid smart?’ Einstein replied: ‘Read him fairy tales.’ The mother wasn’t expecting such a simple remedy, so she asked again: ‘No, I mean how to make him a genius like you, sir?’ With a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his lips, Einstein said: ‘Read him more fairy tales.’ We don’t know whether the anxious mother in this anecdote followed Einstein’s advice or not, but reading is the greatest gift a human can give to another human. It’s a tragedy of our age that bedtime stories have almost died due to the lure of Smartphone and TV screens. It’s a modern-day catastrophe that a majority of youngsters don’t read anymore. Cinema, TV, Social Media, and Netflix (and its clones) have supplanted reading. There is a reason why TV is nicknamed idiot box: it provides passive entertainment, creating people devoid of imagination or critical thinking. Smartphone, the heir and progeny of TV and computer, is a bigger culprit in reducing Homo sapiens, the wise humans to unthinking zombies. Reading is like magic. It opens portals to different worlds and people, about whose existence we never knew or had only a faint idea. Reading is an active, creative pursuit. Reading stories or poems builds empathy, cultivates curiosity, engenders creativity, and adds another layer of meaning to life. Sometimes parents and students meet language teachers like me, and ask: ‘How can our daughter improve her language skills? And why is our son not getting good marks in English?’ Mostly we English teachers, come out with this reply: ‘Do they read newspapers or story books?’ And the parents say: ‘No. Tuitions, school, homework and exams leave them with no time to do extra reading.’ ‘Let us unite forces to convince them to find time for reading,’ we answer. Between the rigmarole of tuitions, schoolwork, exams, and the bewitching lure of social media and TV, reading for pleasure gets sacrificed. Reading is to mind what exercise is to body. Reading good books makes us knowledgeable, develops critical thinking, and helps us acquire mastery over a language. Some inquisitive students and enlightened parents frequently ask: ‘What to read? How to find time to read? How to motivate ourselves to read when there are so many easy distractions?’ Conundrums! Read everything, anything that you can afford to read: comics, novels, poems, short stories, graphic novels, magazines, newspapers... Don’t limit yourself to a particular genre or a particular author. Explore the whole realm of books. Cut screen addiction. Resolve to keep away from TV, Smartphone and Social Media for a couple of days every week. Utilize these NO-SCREEN DAYS to read books for pleasure, and meet positive people. Read a new book every couple of months. Start your day by reading a newspaper. Join a neighbourhood or a facebook Book Club to meet bibliophiles and discover the fantastic world of books. Remember, books are your best friends and your real teachers. Read and live fully. Explore the world around you, travel to the magnificent places around you, listen to good music, watch a play in a theatre, explore the wonderful world of good cinema, attend concerts, play games, participate in life, sit with your parents and grandparents, and cultivate lifelong

friendships. Find your aim in life and work hard to realize it. Work religiously every day towards your goal. As Kipling said: “If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!” This school magazine is a labour of love. The imaginative pieces you see in this magazine have been gleaned from the class magazines dripping with the labour and creativity of our exquisite students. I thank the members of the Editorial Board for their amazing diligence in carving out this Vidyalaya Patrika. And I also express my gratitude to the students & parents for their submissions to make this magazine possible. May we all read more, learn more & live more! Best Wishes.

BEFORE THE INK DRIES Ten years of laughter, written on these walls, From primary corridors to high school halls. The heavy backpacks and the morning bell, And secrets only best friends get to tell. We scribbled on desks and shared our fears, Counting down days, then counting the years. The unfinished homework, the last-minute stress, The chaotic recess we loved to confess. But look at the canvas we’ve painted so bright, Through exams in the day and dreams in the night. This room was our anchor, our comfort, our guide, With teachers who stood like rocks by our side. Though paths may divide and the seasons will turn, The bonds that we made here will forever burn. We walked in as children, we leave hand in hand, Ready to make our own mark on the land. The final bell rings, but our story goes on, The classroom is quiet, our journey begun. Look forward, stand tall, let your spirit ascend, Class Ten is a milestone, but never the end VAISHNAVI KIRAN GADE CLASS: 10 A

MEMORIES When I'm alone, I sit with my memories, Old laughter softly echoing in my head. Sweet moments replay like familiar songs, Yet somehow it makes me feel emptier instead. But then I remember that I'm never on my own, There are voices that know these stories too. Friends who hold the same snapshots of time, Who laugh again when something familiar comes into view. So if you out there, feel lonely tonight, Carrying moments with no one to share. Come sit with us, pull up a chair, Someone here will know the feeling, I swear. We’ll trade stories, stitch joy in the air, Make new memories where old ones grew thin. Because no laugh should echo alone, And with us, you’ll always belong. VARSHA VIMAL CLASS-10 A

Thinking about the future Everyone ask me what will you be? But the future looks big puzzle to me. So many roads lie right ahead Full of words and choices left unsaid. The world is wide the options deep, While thoughts of tomorrow steal my sleep. One path goes left another right, Each promise a future bright It is hard to choose it is hard to know, Which is the ground where I will grow. But soon I will find my way And turn my doubts into a brighter day Srushti Santosh Jadhav Class 10A

SIBLINGS Siblings are chameleons, They change their personality. In front of others they are angels, In front of us the devil. They tell us that we’re adopted, That they found us in the bin. They make us do their chores, And steal the TV remote. They act like they hate us, But at the end they love us. SHIVANGI SANDHELIYA CLASS 10A

♡ Unforgettable trip to Nepal ♡ Think you saw heaven? let me prove you wrong by telling you about my trip to little heaven may call it 'NEPAL'. It started from a dream to visit this place in the freezing December. Our journey started with a marathon bus ride along the national highway running through lush, heavy forests toward the Nepal border. As the night went on, the temperature plummeted. Outside, a gentle drizzle turned the air icy cold; inside, every single one of us was wrapped in layers of sweaters, shawls, and blankets, shivering in unison. It was a struggle to stay warm, but when dawn broke, the struggle paid off. The first rays of light cutting through the forest mist were so ethereal it literally looked like a glimpse of heaven on earth. A much-needed roadside stop for hot chai, breakfast, and a washroom break felt like pure luxury. By noon, we arrived at the busy India-Nepal border, joining a massive line of travelers. Officers were diligently checking identity documents like Aadhaar cards. As we were all standing there waiting to get checked, I spotted a monkey effortlessly leaping back and forth between two buildings—one on the Indian side and one on the Nepal side. Naturally, I couldn't keep quiet and yelled, "Look at that monkey! He’s hopping from India to Nepal, then Nepal to India without any visa!" It broke the fatigue instantly and gave everyone a good laugh. After finishing the border clearance, we got back on the bus and checked into a cozy highway hotel around 2:00 PM. After spending a full night and day trapped on a bus, we were utterly exhausted. We decided to rest up for our main destination—Lumbini—rather than venturing too far out. And let me tell you: the hotel food in Nepal was elite. That warm meal after a brutal travel day tasted better than a five-star feast. The hygiene and belongingness comforted the vibe. The next morning in Lumbini was magical. The early morning air was crisp, fresh, and cold enough to make you question your life choices—but the positive energy was 10/10.

The highlight of the morning we went to Lord Buddha’s birth place. Which had a queue of tourists as well, As I stood there taking in the peaceful atmosphere and praying for everyone's health and happiness. After our visit to the main site we went on exploring the mind boggling monasteries made by the international Buddhist organisations. Even the most unique temple explored was the temple of 1000 statues of Buddha, organised in such a manner that anyone couldn't believe its eyes at first as I experienced. If u ever get a thought of visiting somewhere that is unique, tranquil and languid NEPAL can be somewhere in your list. From freezing highway nights and international monkey acrobatics to soulful prayers and acquiring the single greatest keychain in existence with experiencing the greatest scenarios and temples —this trip was wholesome, hilarious, and completely unforgettable! If you ever get to Nepal make sure to visit every possible monastery and temple as they are having their own specialty as the various international organizations build them to keep a glimpse of their culture in Nepal. Which majorly included Thai, Japanese and Chinese temples and monasteries. KRISHITA CLASS 10A

Move to Live: Staying Fit in the Age of Screens Wake up, check the phone. Breakfast, check the phone. Homework break, check the phone again. Somewhere between video calls, online classes, gaming sessions, and endless scrolling, an entire generation has quietly traded playgrounds for pixels. We are more “connected” than any generation before us — and yet, many of us have never felt more disconnected from our own bodies. It wasn't always like this. Not too long ago, evenings meant cricket matches in the colony ground, cycling till sunset, or a simple game of hide-and-seek that left us breathless and happy. Today, that same energy often goes into finishing “just one more level” or watching “just one more reel.” The screen isn't the enemy — it's a powerful tool for learning and connection — but when it replaces movement entirely, it quietly steals something precious: our health, our focus, and even our happiness. Fitness in the age of screens doesn't mean rejecting technology. It means reclaiming balance. Doctors today speak of “tech neck,” strained eyes, disturbed sleep, and rising cases of childhood obesity — not to scare us, but to remind us that our bodies were built to move, not just to sit and scroll. A twenty- minute walk, a game of badminton, a few sun salutations before opening your laptop — these small acts add up to a stronger body and a sharper mind. The good news? Technology itself can help us move more, not less. Fitness apps, step trackers, online yoga sessions, and dance workout videos have turned millions of screens into motivators rather than distractions. The key is intention — deciding to use the screen for fitness, instead of losing time to it. As students, we have the power to set the tone for a healthier future. Every hour spent outdoors, every match played with friends, every stretch before bed is a small rebellion against a sedentary lifestyle — and a small victory for ourselves. Fitness is not a punishment or a chore; it is freedom. It is the ability to run without gasping, to sleep without tossing, to focus without fidgeting. So the next time your screen time notification pops up, let it be a nudge, not a scolding. Step outside. Stretch. Play. Sweat. Because a life truly well-lived isn't measured in likes and views — it's measured in how alive we feel when we put the screen down and simply move. “The body achieves what the mind believes — but first, it must get up and try.” AMEYA NILESH GAVAS

Voices of Tomorrow In these halls where dreams take flight, We chase the dawn and find our light, Through crowded hallways, laughter rings As every passing moment brings, A lesson learned a bond so deep, And promise we mean to keep. From pages Turned in quite halls, To cheering echoes on the walls, We build the paths we walk today With steady hearts to guide our way, Not just for grades or tests we stride, But learning who we are inside. Together bound by hope and goal, Each simple mind a growing soul, Tomorrow waits beyond the door, Ready for us to rise and soar AAYUSH RANDIVE

School Life Every morning the alarm rings loud, I get ready and walk in a crowd. Reaching school just on time, Hearing the first bell chime. Maths classes give me a headache, Science formulas make my hands shake. Waiting eagerly for the lunch break bell, Sharing tiffin boxes, eating very well. Playing cricket in the muddy ground, With my best friends running all around. Teachers scolding us for making noise, We are a mischievous group of boys. Board exams are coming near, Filling our minds with little fear. Though these days will soon pass by, School life is the best time, oh my! AAYUSH NAGARE

My Journey Through Badminton Badminton has been one of the most memorable and rewarding parts of my school life. More than just a sport, it has been a journey of hard work, discipline, and self-belief. Every practice session, every tournament, and every challenge on the court has helped me grow not only as a player but also as a person. When I started playing tournaments, I used to feel very nervous. Standing on the court, facing skilled opponents, and playing in front of spectators often made me anxious. However, as I participated in more and more tournaments, that nervousness gradually turned into confidence. Every match taught me to stay calm under pressure, trust my preparation, and enjoy the game instead of fearing the result. This transformation has been one of the biggest achievements of my badminton journey. I have been fortunate to represent my school at various competitions and compete as an Open State player. One of the proudest moments of my journey was representing KVS Pune Region at the KVS Maharashtra tournaments. In the Open State circuit, I was ranked among the Top 20 players in Pune. In KVS Pune, I secured 1st place in the Under-14 category in 2023 and 2nd place in 2024. I also finished 4th in the Under-19 category at the KVS Maharashtra tournament, achievements that motivated me to keep improving. Badminton has taught me much more than how to win matches. It has taught me discipline, resilience, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of never giving up. Every victory filled me with confidence, while every defeat became a lesson that made me stronger. Looking back, I realize that the greatest reward is not just the medals or rankings but the person I have become through this sport. My love for badminton continues to inspire me, and I will always cherish the memories, friendships, and lessons it has given me. SAMAR KUMAR
