History of JRAreallygreatsite.com01 Its roots stretch back to the volunteer rifle corps of the mid 1800s, where units like the Kingston Light Horse trained for both defense and marksmanship. Over time, the JRA expanded beyond traditional full bore rifle shooting to embrace practical pistol, archery, cadet shooting, and Olympic style disciplines. Jamaica has proudly hosted major events such as the Pan American Handgun Championship and continues to field teams at IPSC World Shoots, strengthening ties with the global shooting community. Through partnerships with the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force, the JRA also nurtures young shooters, emphasizing safety, discipline, and skill development. Today, the JRA stands as the national governing body for shooting sports in Jamaica — promoting excellence, safety, and camaraderie while representing the island on the world stage. The Jamaica Rifle Association (JRA) was founded on May 25, 1896, when parish rifle clubs came together in Kingston to unify shooting across the island. That same year, the JRA gained affiliation with the National Rifle Association of Great Britain, giving Jamaican marksmen access to international standards and competition.

History of President’s Cup That resilience was rewarded in 2023, when the event achieved its first Level III designation, held on October 28 under the direction of Rohan Wallace — who also serves as President of the Jamaica Rifle Association. His leadership marked a new era of recognition and prestige for the Cup. Now, in 2026, the President’s Cup celebrates its tenth anniversary, standing as a testament to perseverance, growth, and the dedication of Jamaica’s shooting community.reallygreatsite.com01 The President’s Cup began ten years ago, marking the start of a journey that has steadily grown in stature. Our first official record was June 18, 2016, when a Level II match was staged under the direction of Match Director Andrew Gardner. The following year, in 2017, the Cup returned at Level II, strengthening its footing and laying the foundation for what would become one of Jamaica’s premier IPSC competitions. The years that followed were not without interruption. The COVID‑19 pandemic and other incidental circumstances created unavoidable gaps, yet the spirit of the Cup endured.
