Foreword by the Consul General 总领事序言 H.E. Sardar Muhammad, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Guangzhou 萨达尔·穆罕默德阁下 巴基斯坦伊斯兰共和国驻广州总 领事 Looking back on the past three months, I must say this has been one of the most rewarding quarters for our Consulate General. From April to June 2026, we have witnessed remarkable progress in Pakistan-China relations, and I am genuinely proud of what we have accomplished together especially with South China. Our diplomatic engagements have been both busy and meaningful. The highlight, without question, was the visit of our President to Changsha & Sanya—a powerful symbol of the trust and respect that define our bilateral ties. He also travelled to Sanya, Hainan, from 28th April to 1st May, where in additional to the handover of the Hangor Submarine, he held warm and productive meetings with the Party Secretary and the Governor. These high-level exchanges were complemented by our own efforts on the ground—engaging with the Guangdong Institute of International Strategies, and strengthening ties with Yangjiang’s foreign affairs authorities. Every conversation reaffirmed the depth of friendship between our peoples. On the business front, I am particularly excited about the tangible outcomes we have achieved. Our team worked tirelessly to support the Prime Minister’s visit to Hangzhou, where the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference on ICT & BESS and Agriculture was held on 24 May. We took the lead in matchmaking for the Telecommunication, Mobile & Handheld Device Manufacturing, and Gaming & Animation sectors. Bringing together 42 Chinese and 21 Pakistani enterprises, we facilitated hundreds of online and offline meaningful conversations—342 on-site meetings and 103 pre-conference sessions. The results speak for themselves: 32 MoUs worth USD 659.27 million, spanning telecom, gaming, and mobile manufacturing only. These are not just numbers; they represent real partnerships, real jobs, and real opportunities for our people. Similarly, our team was proud to lead the home appliances sector at the Lahore B2B Investment Conference on 9–10 May. With 8 Chinese and 41 Pakistani companies coming together for 92 targeted meetings, we saw 21 MoUs signed worth USD 186 million. Combined, the two conferences resulted in 53 MoUs valued at over USD 845 million. Seeing businesses from both countries connect and commit to working together is deeply satisfying—it reminds me why our work matters. Beyond diplomacy and trade, we have also focused on what truly sustains this relationship: our people. We were thrilled to join the Third Asian and African Cultural Festival and to showcase our rich heritage at the Urdu Department stall. Sharing a meal with Pakistani researchers and students in Xiamen, and celebrating Eid ul-Adha with our community across South China, were among the most heartwarming moments of this quarter. These gatherings remind us that while agreements and meetings are important, it is the warmth between our people that makes this friendship extraordinary. This year holds special meaning for all of us—we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations. It is a moment to reflect on how far we have come and to dream about how much further we can go. Our Consulate General remains as committed as ever to strengthening cooperation in trade, education, culture, and beyond. He also addressed the Urdu students, encouraging them to serve as cultural ambassadors bridging Pakistan and China through the power of language. The Urdu programme at the GDUFS is one of the few in China that trains graduates in Pakistan’s national language. He toured the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, followed by the "Great Tide Surge Along the Pearl River" exhibition, which traced Guangdong’s historic role as a gateway for international exchange and its pioneering contribution to China’s reform and opening up. The Ambassador also attended the Shenzhen Promotion Conference and met with Mayor Qin Weizhong and other municipal leaders over lunch. At the conference, speakers highlighted Shenzhen’s position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing, innovation, and emerging technologies. On the sidelines, a curated display featured advanced robotics, AI-powered translation devices, intelligent systems, and other cutting-edge technologies. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, attended the closing ceremony of the tenth Huawei ICT Competition Global Final at Shenzhen. Pakistani students and educators distinguished themselves among participants from more than 75 countries, earning recognition in teaching, computing, networking and innovation. Teams from Islamabad, Lahore, Abbottabad, Taxila, Jamshoro and Tandojam secured top positions, and instructors from COMSATS University, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the University of Engineering and Technology and FAST University were honoured. Sardar Muhammad, Consul General, gave an interview to Xiamen Television. In the interview he set out the strong potential of Pakistan in the cross-border e-commerce sector, noting the country’s rapidly expanding digital economy, its large pool of young professionals in information technology and the supportive policy framework of the Government. Every plate is placed to one standard width, and to a single reduced width where two or three frames are carried together.
