B. Braun Blaze HR Words from our CFO Proudly South African Newsletter March 2026 Yours in finance, Regards, Scott Dear Colleagues, Accordingly, there remains much work for us in the second half of the year. It will be busy, disruptive, however not negotiable for our ambitions. Let’s keep marching forward! From a topline perspective all three divisions are progressing and there is strong growth from Aesculap in particular (+11.9% YoY May). Hospital Care overall remains sluggish with (+1.2% YoY May), and Avitum (Product) has shown positive topline growth (+4.9% YoY May) even with the loss of the LIFE Healthcare contract, this is due to the increased uptake of infection prevention sales and HD therapies due to increased independent activity. Our provider business requires more effort and remains sluggish (+1.0% YoY May). Notably, we remain behind the targets we have set ourselves. I need to emphasize that all strategies (including that of our provider business) require topline growth – this is the predominant and prevailing factor of all our planning. The cost structures that have been designed and implemented are adequate to meet the needs of the business in the medium term; however, these cost structures are dependent on realizing the topline targets. Costs are naturally under pressure if the topline does not materialize as planned, notwithstanding that due to the geo-political disruptions we are already facing costs increases across multiple categories. Normally I would write and comment that we live in interesting times, however it would be more appropriate to say we live in times that are in a constant state of flux. Who would have thought that when the year started we would encounter further geo-political turmoil (from Venezuela, Greenland to the middle east conflict) rises in global oil prices (again – 2022 the oil price rose to over $120 per barrel due to the Russian- Ukraine war), rises in economic pressures, the worlds first trillionaire (on paper for a few days), the mystery of AI and its ultimate impact on how we conduct our everyday lives, and to top it off on a good note that Bafana Bafana have reached the knock out stage of the FIFA World cup for the first time in their history! Within the B. Braun world, we also continue to engage head on with changes from multiple directions. From SAP S4 Hana implementation, Sales Force, Syntro-P, Genysis, SuccessFactors, dashboards, to further analytical tools. We are being challenged by all these changes simply because our destination as a top global medical devices and pharmaceutical company demands it. These changes are good yet require a consistent mindset of prioritization, whilst ensuring we all remain engaged in serving our customers. However, we are a strong and resilient team and our ability to keep communication channels open and discuss the difficult topics certainly remains one of our key strengths. As we celebrate Youth month, we take a moment to recognise all the energy, creativity, and potential that young people bring to our organisation and our country.
