C O N T E N T S*01*02*03*04 ARTS AND CULTURAL HUB -MIRPURKHAS THE DESERT SPHERE POLYCLINIC TEMPORARY SHOPPING MARKET
Mirpurkhas possesses a deeply rooted, vibrant artistic community, yet it suffers from a critical lack of formal infrastructure. This institutional void constrains the economic growth, collaborative potential, and public visibility of local craftsmen and artists, threatening the preservation of the area’s distinct cultural identity. To anchor this community, the project site was deliberately selected at the exact geographical location where local artists historically gathered to conduct open-air workshops directly in the fields. By building precisely where creators once persevered through a lack of infrastructure, the architecture acts as a permanent, formal sanctuary. Placing the hub on this specific ground preserves a powerful sense of nostalgia, honoring their resilience and transforming a site of past struggle into a monument of cultural celebration. Vertical Core: A central staircase linking the semi-underground creative studios directly to upper public decks. Terraced Decks (10'-6" & 21'-0"): Shaded open-air terraces with pergolas designed for community interaction and natural ventilation. Jaali Façade: Upper-level material screens that control daylight intake while keeping a visual connection to the central courtyard.
C O N C E P T “ARCHITECTURE THAT BREATHES AND BELONGS” belongs to artists and breathes through passive design principles This project is designed as an approachable and nurturing space for artists coming from modest and raw environments. Instead of creating a monumental or intimidating structure, the architecture adopts familiar elements such as courtyards, verandahs, and human-scaled spaces. Using tactile materials and passive cooling strategies, the design creates a comfortable and breathable environment where artists can freely gather, create, and express themselves. The space acts as a supportive platform that encourages creativity, removes hesitation, and fosters a sense of belonging.

The Cultural Mosaic in Modern Form is a fashion house that blends Rajasthani and Sindhi heritage with modern design. Centered around the "Desert Circle", it reimagines traditional patterns like Ajrak and Laheriya in contemporary fashion, creating a seamless fusion of cultural richness and innovation.T H E D E S E R T S P H E R E
This design concept is inspired by the traditional Bhungas of Rajasthani and Sindhi culture, incorporating the intricate patterns of Sindhi crafts like Rilli quilts, Furak textiles, and Kashi tiles. The largest circle represents the central Bhunga, while smaller circles echo the motifs found in these crafts, symbolizing the communal and artistic richness of these cultures. The design pays homage to their vibrancy, blending architectural form and handcrafted artistry into a modern, cohesive composition. C O N C E P T

This project redefines the traditional architectural narrative of the Thar Desert a region deeply bound by a shared cultural, linguistic, and artistic syntax that transcends modern borders. Influenced by the vernacular wisdom of both Sindhi and Rajasthani heritage, the design of this Fashion House serves as a physical manifestation of a "Cultural Mosaic in Modern Form". The Traditional: The tactile warmth of exposed brickwork, terracotta screens, and textured plaster pays homage to the earthen architecture of Thar. The Modern: These vernacular materials are juxtaposed with clean, minimalist lines, expansive structural glazing, and sleek steel elements. Perforated building skins (jaalis) reinterpret Ajrak and Rilli geometries, transforming harsh desert sunlight into soft, shifting interior patterns. This project is a Polyclinic & Diagnostic Center designed as part of an academic studio under the guidance of our class advisors. The project was assigned on a specific real-world site in Karachi, requiring a practical and context-driven design approach. The aim was to create a healthcare facility that is not only functional but also promotes healing through architecture, ensuring comfort, efficiency, and accessibility for patients.P O L Y C L I N I C H E A L T H C A R E C E N T E R
To address these challenges, the design was developed with a compact and adaptive layout that follows the site’s geometry. The building form was carefully shaped to utilize every part of the plot efficiently, ensuring no wasted spaces while maintaining smooth circulation. Functional zoning was done in a way that separates public, semi-public, and private areas, allowing a clear and efficient patient flow from entry to treatment and exit. P l a n n i n g S t r a t e g y
The primary challenge of this project was the irregular site boundary, which made spatial planning and form development more complex. Unlike regular plots, the uneven geometry required careful decision-making to ensure that the built form responded effectively to the site conditions. Additionally, our professor emphasized maximizing built-up efficiency, meaning we had to avoid leftover or unusable negative spaces while maintaining design quality. D e s i g n C h a l l e n g e
The polyclinic is designed as a multispecialty facility with efficient circulation and a clear patient flow reception to discharge ensuring ease of use. The architecture combines functional planning with clean, modern aesthetics, using natural light, greenery, and open spaces to create a calming environment. A human- centered approach is emphasized through comfortable waiting areas, intuitive wayfinding, and stress-reducing design elements, making the space welcoming and healing rather than purely clinical. This project proposes a hybrid retail environment that merges the vibrancy of traditional bazaars with the structure of modern retail spaces. The design is driven by user behavior and aims to create a dynamic place that evolves throughout the day—serving as a recreational landscape in the morning, an active shopping hub during the day, and a social gathering space in the evening. The focus is on creating an experience rather than just a marketplace. S U N D A Y B A Z A R
The site is organized into clear functional zones to ensure smooth circulation and usability. The front accommodates parking and entry plazas to manage traffic efficiently, while the central zone acts as a community buffer with seating, play areas, and green spaces. The main retail zone consists of modular stalls arranged in a flexible grid, allowing adaptation for both daily use and temporary markets, supported by a continuous pedestrian flow. P L A N N I N G & Z O N I N G
The design emphasizes human-centered spaces through shaded walkways, landscaped pockets, and interactive public areas. An open-air amphitheater acts as the focal point, encouraging social interaction and events. Careful attention is given to accessibility, climate responsiveness, and spatial comfort, creating an environment that is inclusive, engaging, and responsive to the local context.
