PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: Dear Fellow Rotarians, It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Rotary year 2026–27 and to the first edition of our Club Bulletin. Every new Rotary year is an opportunity to do more meaningful work and create lasting impact. My vision for Rotary Club of Nagpur North this year is to build a Club that is engaged, compassionate, purposeful and united by the spirit of Service Above Self. I also hope our bulletin reflects this journey - not merely documenting our projects, but capturing the people, purpose and impact behind them. Every contribution, however big or small, is part of the story we create together. The July focus on Maternal and Child Health Care reminds us that a healthier society begins with caring for mothers and children. Through awareness, prevention, nutrition, healthcare and compassion, we can create an impact that goes beyond individual projects and touches lives in lasting ways. I am privileged to begin this year with a dedicated and capable Board of Directors. I have complete faith in their experience, ideas and commitment. I believe that when we trust one another and work as one team, there is no limit to what we can accomplish. Let us make this a year of purposeful action, meaningful service and lasting memories. Together, let us turn our intent into impact. With Warm Regards, Rtn. Nand Tahilyani President Rotary Club of Nagpur North RID 3030 | Rotary Year 2026–27
EDITOR'S MESSAGE: BETWEEN THE LINES OF SERVICE A bulletin is more than a collection of pages. It is a window into a year, a reflection of a community, and, if done well, a record of the spirit that binds its people together. As I take on the role of Editor for the Rotary year 2026-27, I would like to look at this bulletin a little differently. I do not want these pages to simply tell you what happened. I want them to make you pause and feel why it mattered. Every Rotary year brings with it hundreds of moments that deserve to be remembered. Some are grand and celebrated. Others are quiet, almost unnoticed, but equally meaningful. A conversation, a new friendship, a child's smile, an idea that turns into an initiative, a member who quietly steps forward when help is needed. These are the moments that often disappear once an event is over. I believe a good bulletin should save those moments. My vision is to create a publication that feels less like a record and more like a story of our Rotary family. A place where achievements are celebrated, people are recognised, ideas are shared and the personality of our Club comes alive through its pages.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful thing a bulletin can do: bring a large family a little closer. This is not a publication created by one person. It belongs to every member who contributes a story, shares a photograph, offers an idea, celebrates a fellow Rotarian or simply turns up to serve. So, as we begin this new Rotary year, I invite you to be part of its story. Let us not merely document the year. Let us give it a voice. Let us give it a personality. And above all, let us give it a memory worth keeping. Here’s to a year of stories, ideas, people and moments that deserve to live between the lines of service. With Warm Regards, Ashita Reuben Editor Rotary Club of Nagpur North I also hope these pages will encourage us to look beyond the photographs and headlines. Behind every achievement is a person who gives time. Behind every successful initiative is a team that believes in an idea. Behind every act of service is a choice to do something for someone else. That human element is what I want to bring to the forefront. As Editor, I want to experiment with how we tell our stories, how we present our people and how we preserve the memories we create together. Some pages may make you smile. Some may make you think. Some may introduce you to a fellow Rotarian you have known for years, but perhaps never really known their story.
INSTALLATION CEREMONYThe Magic Begins with a Year of Purpose and PossibilityA New Year, A New ChapterAn evening filled with anticipation, celebration and the unmistakable energy of Rotary came alive as the Rotary Club of Nagpur North welcomed its new year at the Installation Ceremony, bringing together approximately 230 members under one roof. The ceremony marked more than a change of leadership. It was the beginning of a new chapter—one shaped by new responsibilities, fresh ideas and a shared commitment to making the year ahead meaningful. At the heart of the evening was the installation of the new leadership team, ready to take forward the club’s work across community service, youth, vocational service, membership, public image and much more. With a new team comes a new rhythm, and the enthusiasm in the room made one thing clear: this year is ready to get moving. A successful installation, however, is never the work of one person. PP Rtn. Kamlesh Chotwani, Installation Chair, deserves special appreciation for his tremendous effort, dedication and attention to detail in bringing the entire ceremony together and making it a memorable evening for the club.
The new team also begins its journey with the guidance of PP Rtn. Jyoti Kapoor, Club Trainer, whose constant support, encouragement and valuable guidance will continue to be an important part of the year ahead. A special note of appreciation goes to PP Rtn. Pooja Khatri and PP Rtn. Manisha Manghani for their guidance, support and valuable contribution towards the ceremony and the new Rotary year. With 230 members coming together to mark the occasion, the message was simple: the year has begun, the board is ready, and there is plenty to look forward to. Here’s to a year of ideas that leave the room, projects that leave a mark, and a Rotary year worth remembering.
There are moments when the achievements of individuals become milestones for an entire community. August 2026 has brought Rotary in India one such extraordinary moment. In a remarkable convergence of global leadership, Dr. Bharat S. Pandya of the Rotary Club of Borivli, Mumbai, has been selected to become Rotary International President for 2028– 29, while PRID Trichur Narayan “Raju” Subramanian of the Rotary Club of Deonar, Mumbai, has been appointed Chair of the Council on Legislation 2028 and Chair of the Council on Resolutions for the term 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030. Raju Subramanian’s appointment makes him the first Indian to chair the Council on Legislation, marking another historic milestone for Indian Rotary.A Historic Moment for India in Rotary Two Indian Leaders, Two Global Milestones, One Extraordinary Chapter For Indian Rotarians, this is far more than a pair of prestigious appointments. It is a powerful recognition of the leadership that India continues to contribute to the global Rotary movement. Dr. Bharat Pandya: From Mumbai to the Presidency of Rotary International His Rotary journey is equally distinguished.
Dr. Pandya has served as an RI director and treasurer, as well as in several leadership positions within The Rotary Foundation, including trustee, vice chair and Executive Committee chair. He also served on the India PolioPlus Committee from 2011 to 2015, during the period when India achieved certification as polio- free. His record as a district leader is particularly noteworthy. During his year as Governor of District 3140 in 2006–07, the district contributed more than US$2 million to The Rotary Foundation, making it the highest-contributing Rotary district in the world that year. His service has also included water and sanitation initiatives that helped communities gain access to water closer to their homes. Rotary International has now selected Dr. Pandya to lead the organisation in 2028–29. He is scheduled to officially become president-nominee on 15 September, provided there are no challenging candidates. His selection is therefore not simply the culmination of an impressive Rotary career. It is also a reflection of the increasingly significant role Indian Rotarians play in shaping Rotary's global future. Raju Subramanian: A First for India at the Council on Legislation Alongside this announcement comes another historic achievement. PRID T. N. “Raju” Subramanian, a charter member of the Rotary Club of Deonar, has been appointed Chair of the Council on Legislation 2028
and Chair of the Council on Resolutions for the three-year term beginning 1 July 2027 and ending 30 June 2030. Most significantly, he becomes the first Indian to chair the Council on Legislation. The appointment is particularly fitting given Raju's extensive experience with Rotary's legislative process. He has served on the Council on Legislation Organizing Committee, the Constitution and Bylaws Committee and the Election Review Committee. He was also vice chair of the 2022 Council on Legislation, stepping in to lead the meeting when the chair became ill with COVID-19. Raju's leadership experience extends across Rotary. What makes these developments especially remarkable is the timing. One Indian leader has been chosen to lead Rotary International globally. Another has been entrusted with one of Rotary's most important democratic and legislative responsibilities. The Council on Legislation is where Rotary representatives from around the world meet every three years to debate and vote on proposals that can shape the organisation's policies and future. He served as RI Director for Zones 4 and 7 from 2023 to 2025, has chaired Rotary Institutes, served as a training leader and regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, and has held several other international responsibilities. Professionally, he is a senior counsel practising in the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts and tribunals. His experience was again visible at the 2025 Council on Legislation, where, as an RI director, he addressed representatives on matters concerning Rotary's financial sustainability and the organisation's future. Two Leaders. One Proud Moment for India.
It is, in many ways, an expression of Rotary's global democratic spirit, bringing voices from different countries and cultures together to determine the direction of the organisation. To have an Indian Rotarian chair this important forum while another Indian Rotarian is on the path to the RI presidency is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated across the Rotary family. And perhaps there is an even deeper message in these milestones. Neither journey began on a global stage. They began with club service, district leadership, committees, responsibilities, relationships and years of quietly showing up. Their stories demonstrate that Rotary leadership is not built overnight. It is earned through consistency, credibility and a willingness to serve wherever one is needed. For Indian Rotarians, this is a moment of immense pride. For younger Rotarians, it is a reminder that the club meeting you attend today, the project you lead today and the responsibility you accept today may be the first steps towards something far greater tomorrow. Two Indians. Two historic responsibilities. One global organisation. India is not merely participating in Rotary's story. Indian Rotarians are helping write its next chapter. Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Bharat S. Pandya and PRID T. N. “Raju” Subramanian. May their leadership inspire countless more Rotarians to believe that service, when pursued with purpose and perseverance, can take you from a local club to the world stage.
