On September 21, 1939, Murel Milford was born in Newton, Texas, to Selmon Milford and Naomi Odom. He was one of nine children and was born alongside his twin sister, Maryan Gilbert. His siblings included Charles McGuire, Jodine Land, Lorine Nettles, Opal L. Green, Onie B. Wells, Homer L. Milford, and Betty J. Archer. Murel attended Liberty High School from 1955 to 1958 before relocating to McNary, Arizona. In October 1959, he proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. During his eight years of service, he earned numerous medals and certificates of excellence in marksmanship and distinguished service. His contributions helped write a historic chapter in the Strategic Air Command Alert Posture at Torrejón Air Force Base in Spain. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was affectionately known by the nickname "RIP." Following an honorable discharge in October 1967, Murel made Los Angeles, California, his home. In 1968, Murel began a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, where he faithfully served as a window clerk until his retirement in 2000. In 1971, he settled in Gardena, California, where he remained for the rest of his life. In the late 1960s, Murel married Jessica Milford-Williams in Los Angeles, California. Together they built a loving family. Their family included Michelle, and together they welcomed their daughter, Murlita Milford. He was also the proud father of Melissa "Tiffany" Milford. His daughters were the joy of his life, and he loved each of them deeply. Murel was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He lived life on his own terms, with strength, dignity, and an unwavering love for the Lord. His kindness, wisdom, and quiet presence left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him. He leaves to cherish his memory of his beloved twin sister, Maryan Gilbert; his daughters, Murlita Milford, Melissa "Tiffany" Milford, and Michelle Milford; his granddaughter, Jasmin J. Flores; his grandsons, Jassan Enriquez and Jashua Enriquez; the cherished memory of his grandson, Justin J. Smith Sr., who preceded him in death; his great-grandchildren, Modio, Justin Jr., Ke'Shawn, and Ja'Nila; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.Life Reflections

To the wonderful neighbors of Gardena, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and kindness you showed my father over the years and extended to me as well.
