Devotees from the different chapel communities gathered at the Mangalit Cemetery, bringing with them the images of their respective patron saints as a sign of faith and unity within the parish. One of the new highlights introduced for this year’s celebration was the solemn procession of the different chapel communities during the first day of the novena. The initiative aimed to strengthen the bond among the chapels and foster greater participation among the faithful as one parish community journeying together in prayer and devotion. The procession prayerfully made its way to the Our Lady of Grace Parish Church, where the faithful were warmly welcomed. Before entering the church, Rev. Fr. Reynaldo M. Cruz, Parish Priest, imparted a special blessing upon the image of Apung Gracia and the accompanying patron saints. In his message, Fr. Cruz highlighted the importance of unity, participation, and spiritual renewal among the parish communities as they begin the novena in preparation for the annual fiesta celebration. Upon entering the church, the image of Apung Gracia was solemnly carried through the main aisle and enthroned at the side altar during the “Pamagpatenti king Larauan nang Apung Gracia” (Enthronement Ceremony), marking the official opening of the novena. The congregation then joyfully sang the “Dalit kang Apung Gracia” (Hymn to Our Lady of Grace), filling the church with prayer and devotion. The opening rites concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Cruz. Parish officials expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the chapel communities, volunteers, and devotees whose participation made the celebration meaningful and prayerful. The faithful were also encouraged to continue joining the novena activities leading up to the joyful celebration of Fiestang Balen 2026.BY: TRISTAN KARL FERRERFaithful Gather as Parish Observes Ash Wednesday Faithful Gather as Parish Observes Ash WednesdayBY: LIAN HEART MACAPAGALBY: LIAN HEART MACAPAGALParishioners of Our Lady of Grace Parish gathered for Ash Wednesday Masses on February 18, 2026, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. Both the 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Masses were well attended, with the church reaching full capacity and some attendees accommodated in outdoor areas. A key part of the liturgy was the imposition of ashes on the foreheads of the faithful in the form of a cross, accompanied by the words, “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” The ashes, made from burned palm branches blessed during the previous year’s Palm Sunday, symbolize human frailty and the call to repentance. During his homily, Rev. Fr. Reynaldo Cruz, Parish Priest, emphasized that fasting goes beyond abstaining from certain foods. He said it involves self- discipline, sacrifice, and a sincere effort toward personal conversion. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40-day Lenten season, a period of prayer, fasting, and reflection leading up to the celebration of the Paschal Triduum.Parish Shows Care and Compassion for the SickBY: MIKAELA JOY GARCIABY: MIKAELA JOY GARCIAA total of 162 faithful received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes celebration at Our Lady of Grace Parish on February 11, 2026. Alongside this, he continued to encourage the Balayan nang Apung Gracia, the visitation of the image of Our Lady of Grace to chapels and homes, a practice first begun in 2018, where prayer traveled beyond church walls and into living rooms, kitchens, and quiet corners of ordinary life. Mico Angelo CruzBro. Mico Angelo CruzBro. Mico Angelo CruzJanuary 2026In the quiet moments before the noise of the fiesta fills the streets, there is a song that seems to return before anything else, the Dalit kang Apung Gracia. ““““““As Fiestang Balen 2026 drew near, the hymn once again found its place in the life of Our Lady of Grace Parish, not as a new composition, but as something rediscovered. Written and composed a few years ago in honor of Apung Gracia, the hymn had slowly become part of how the community named its faith in song.had become more than a hymn; it had emerged as a community song of prayer that united the people and gently led them closer to Christ through the maternal guidance of Mary. Written in a reflective and prayerful manner, the hymn gave voice to the lived faith of the people of Mabalacat, recalling how they had turned to Apung Gracia in times of trial, uncertainty, and hardship. Its verses also proclaimed gratitude for how the beloved pat-roness had continually guided the community toward hope, healing, and the fullness of life. As preparations for Fiestang Balen 2026 continued, the Dalit kang Apung Gracia was expected to take a central place in liturgical celebrations, chapel gatherings, and Balayan visits. More than a musical feature of the fiesta, it stood as a profound expression of the town’s faith, shared history, and enduring unity. And perhaps that was what gave the hymn its quiet strength. It does not demand attention. It stays. For many parishioners and devotees, the Dalit kang Apung Gracia was not only a song for a season. It was a reminder that faith, like music, was often carried most faithfully in ordinary voices, returning, again and again, to a Mother they believed had never stopped listening.
