Needs over Wants: Making Responsible and Ethical ChoicesResponsible decisions, a brighter future
In life, we decide each day how to spend our money. Some items are needed for life others are simply wanted because they bring joy. Even though both needs and wants matter, needs should always come first because needs help families remain financially stable make choices and benefit the community. By learning supply and demand and using thinking and discernment, families can manage their money well.
NEEDS WANTS
Needs should be put before wants because needs are vital for family well‑being. Needs are food, water, clothing, shelter, education and healthcare. Wants are gadgets, luxury items and other things that are not required. If families spend much on wants they may find it hard to meet basic needs. For example buying a cellphone for fun instead of saving for groceries can create financial trouble. That is why families must learn the difference between needs and wants.
Supply and demand also shape how families spend money. When many people want a product but supply is low price usually goes up. For example if rice supply drops, rice price rises making it harder for families to buy this food. Because of this families may have to adjust budgets and cut spending on extras. This is where thinking and discernment matter. Families must compare prices seek options and think carefully before buying. By grasping supply and demand families can decide wisely of buying without thought.
Putting needs first also shows responsibility and good decision‑making. Because families have limited money they must think carefully about every expense. Before buying something they should ask if it is necessary, affordable and worth the cost. For example saving money for school supplies of buying a trending item shows discipline and care for family’s future. Discernment helps people consider the results of choices while ethical thinking reminds them to think about rightness and how choices affect others. These values help families become more responsible with money.
Lastly prioritizing needs also promotes the good. The common good means making choices that help not us. Also those around us. When families avoid wasting money and resources they use what they have better. Buying only what is needed can cut waste. Encourage people to care for the environment. Though wants bring joy they should not come at the cost of family’s needs or others’ well‑being. Small responsible choices can build a caring and sustainable community.
In conclusion, needs must come before wants because needs guard family well‑being, promote spending, and aid the common good. Though supply and demand shift prices and availability, families can manage these shifts by budgeting, comparing prices and using ethical thinking and discernment. Wants are not bad. They should wait until family’s basic needs are met. At the end of the day financial responsibility is not about buying everything we want; it is about knowing what matters most and choosing what benefits our family and community.NEEDS FIRST! Jhian Samantha Vinas Hugh Prince Malabanan Arth Guiller Jovida GROUP 13 9 - ISAIAH
