MASTER PLANLocation: San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur Project Type: Urban Planning Work Type: Individual Project Rendering Type: Manual I l o c a n o s H u b : C i v i c C o r e C e n t e r “Past to Present in Harmony” bridges Ilocos’ colonial architecture, traditional crafts, and landscapes with modern amenities honoring heritage while embracing progress. The project centers on cultural resilience, functionality, and community wellness. Among the spaces, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) stands out as my personal favorite. As someone deeply passionate about helping people heal, I designed this area to reduce the stress commonly associated with healthcare. Surrounded by trees, shade, and calming outdoor spaces, it becomes more than a clinic it’s a sanctuary. The adjacent Community Square fosters social connection and holistic wellness through seminars, events, and informal gatherings.

Rooted in the concept of "Rechromia", a fusion of renewal (re), color (chroma), and utopia the project reimagines the built landscape as a medium for emotional restoration, cognitive revival, and environmental regeneration. One building is repurposed into a learning and therapeutic campus, while another is retained as a hotel facility, integrating rooftop healing gardens, flexible public green spaces, and a revitalized sports and wetland zone. The design applies principles of color and shape psychology, biophilic design, and landscape-based motivation theory, responding to issues of burnout, emotional fatigue, and disconnection in both academic and urban contexts. Native plantings, sensory paths, and open-access zones foster inclusivity, ecological awareness, and mental well-being making the space not just a destination, but a living system of revival for people, place, and purpose.
