Every great legacy begins with one connection.WHY WE CREATED ADOPT A LEGACYThe 2027 HBCU All-Star Weekend is built around a powerful theme: Shift the Focus. While the HBCU All-Star Games celebrate the athletic excellence of NAIA HBCU student-athletes, the mission extends far beyond the final score. It is an opportunity to shift the national conversation toward the institutions themselves, their rich history, enduring legacy, academic excellence, and transformative impact on generations of leaders. The Adopt A Legacy initiative was created to bring that vision to life. By connecting San Antonio schools with the 23 participating NAIA HBCUs, the program transforms the HBCU All-Star Weekend from a two-day sporting event into an educational experience. During Black History Month, students will discover the traditions, culture, and opportunities that define their adopted HBCU before welcoming its student-athletes into their classrooms and cheering them on during the HBCU All-Star Games. Adopt A Legacy is more than a school partnership, it is a movement to Shift the Focus from the game to the greater purpose behind it: honoring the legacy of NAIA HBCUs, inspiring future college students, strengthening communities, and ensuring these remarkable institutions receive the recognition they have long deserved.
