GET IN TOUCH: Shaina Leo - People & Culture Advisor 0429 656 577 | cadiapeople@seecivil.com.au seegroup.com.au CADIA CONNECT MID-YEAR EDITION · FEB–JUL 2026 CREW SPOTLIGHT Celebrating International Women in Mining Day — the crew came together for pink beanies to mark the occasion. In June we celebrated International Women in Engineering Day and got to know some of our female employees. Kiara Mason Role - Senior Project Engineer (Crew A) Her Role: As one of the SPEs at Cadia, Kiara works with a team of eight other engineers, responsible for the planning and execution of the project across technical, quality and financial aspects. A typical day includes contract schedule and resourcing, payment claims, pricing new works, constructability and planning sessions, and financial reporting. Outside of Work: Renovating her house on the Gold Coast — much to the joy of everyone who gets to hear about it. Otherwise at the beach, running & Pilates, seeing family and friends, and dreaming about another lap around Australia. What Inspired Her: Enjoys planning and problem solving, not being stuck in an office all day, and being proud of the end product left behind. Best Part of Cadia: A motivated, high-performing team with a great culture — and what they've achieved over the past 3 years in a dynamic environment. Emma Jardine Role - Project Engineer (Crew A) Her Role: Emma manages project planning and delivery to safely meet key milestones, ensuring quality, construction methodologies, programming, financial reporting and compliance are all met. Outside of Work: Vintage motorcycles, classic cars, the beach, and hanging out with family, friends and dogs. What Inspired Her: Being very organised and loving problem solving — enjoys continually learning and contributing to her team's success. Best Part of Cadia: Working alongside passionate people in a supportive team environment.
WOMEN IN MINING: CHLOE FRANSHAM'S STORY Chloe Fransham Role – Diesel Fitter Entering the Industry: I originally got into mining because of the hands-on learning aspect and the problem solving and the idea that every day would be different. I enjoy the job satisfaction in my position. Mining also offered strong career and learning opportunities and a more rounded apprenticeship with also learning mechanically. What surprised me was the resilience and confidence mining has built in myself. I found the male dominated industry intimidating at first, but now have a great work ethic and respect for the industry. Team Culture: A supportive workshop to me looks like one where everyone is held to the same standard, given equal opportunities and is comfortable speaking up. Feeling part of a team is very important. Respect and awareness have improved majorly in the industry. I think SEE has a great supportive culture and is very close to a perfectly supportive workshop. Balancing Work Realities: I think physically it is challenging as a woman in the shop, however we are supplied all the necessary tools to help, and personally I don’t mind asking for a hand from my team — they are always happy to help. Roster lifestyle can be confronting as a woman thinking long term about family and work life balance. However, I believe the more women succeeding in these roles, the more normalised it will be for more girls to enter trades. That being said, I think the industry is moving in a really positive direction, with more women entering mining and the trade industry, and more teams recognising the value that diverse perspectives and experiences bring to the workplace. Perception vs Reality: A common misconception is that women can’t keep up or are only hired for diversity. The reality is I feel women in male dominated industries have to work hard to adapt and prove themselves constantly. Women in the workshop bring strong communication, attention to detail, and a different perspective and level of respect to the team. Looking Forward: If I could change one thing, it would be to encourage more women to do a trade and not fear that they would need to prove themselves — that they would be judged solely on their attitude, willingness to learn and work ethic. In saying that, this is an industry problem. I believe SEE has a great work environment for women and personally wouldn’t change anything.
MEET ONE OF OUR NEWMONT BUSINESS PARTNERS Tim Alford – Newmont Role - Construction Superintendent What Excites Me: A proper whisky drop. Cooking anything — especially inventing recipes that may or may not require a fire extinguisher. Best Part of the Job: Drawing something on paper, then watching the team design it, build it, and make it better than I imagined. (And occasionally saying, “Yep, that’s exactly how I pictured it,” even when it wasn’t.) Safety Tip: Trust your gut. If something feels off — stop and ask. Your instinct is usually smarter than your ego. Why It Matters: Team members = family members. That means I care about you going home safe — every swing. Put It Into Practice: Enjoy work so you can enjoy life outside of work. Bottom Line: Look after your mates. Teamwork makes the dream work. And no one fights fires alone. Sport: AFL (real football), Basketball Family: Tiffany (the real boss), Amelia – 16, Alana – 12, Pacey and Coda (head of security and emotional support) Favourite Movies: Fast & Furious, Mission Impossible — anything action-based where things explode. Music: Country, 2000s RnB, and recently… Country Rap
CADIA CONNECT SIX MONTHS ON — MID-YEAR SITE WRAP From completing the NTSF Southern Buttress Stage 1, Layer 1 in February to pushing past 700,000m³ moved in a single month by June, the first half of 2026 has been one of the busiest periods yet on the Cadia Tailings Project. KEY MILESTONES ● NTSF Southern Buttress Stage 1, Layer 1 completed in February; Layer 2 (circa 600,00m3) progressed steadily and was completed at the end of July ● STSF Stage 7 achieved finished surface levels across multiple zones in Areas 0, 15 and 16 ● LV04 substantially completed — culverts, pavement and drainage all closed out ● Demonstration Pad foundation excavation became a major focus from June, laying the platform for Newmont’s Course Tailings Project future work ● LV06, LV07 and LV22 scopes awarded and construction planning kicked off It hasn't been without its challenges — cracking events in the NTSF swim lanes, TARP-related stoppages, delayed IFC designs and a wet winter all tested the team's ability to adapt. But through resequencing, collaborative planning with Newmont, and a lot of hard work, the project has maintained the baseline program. Across two sessions Roy covered the history of NAIDOC Week, this year's theme “50 Years of Deadly,” and the purpose of Reconciliation Action Plans, including SEE's Reflect RAP. MEN'S HEALTH MONTH — A PRESENTATION FROM KURT GIDLEY The Cadia Tailings Project site recognised Men's Health Month with a special pre-start presentation from Kurt Gidley, National Mining Manager at Protech. Many on site will know Kurt from his rugby league career — more than 250 NRL games for the Newcastle Knights, including time as club captain, plus State of Origin for NSW and international footy for Australia. Kurt spoke candidly about the pressures of professional sport and how those experiences have shaped his approach to mental health today, covering resilience, recognising when a mate might need support, and the value of open conversations. A timely reminder that mental health is a key part of overall wellbeing, and that checking in with your mates can make a real difference. Thank you, Kurt, for taking the time to visit site and share your experience.
