MYEXPERIENCE 24WEEKSOFAGLIMPSEOFTHEPRACTICALWORLD Duringmy24-weekarchitectureinternship,Ihad anenrichingexperiencethatoffered in- valuableinsightsintothepracticalaspectsofthearchitecturalprofessionbeyondthedraft- edsheets. Iwasfortunate to independentlyhandle two Interiorresidentialprojects,which encom- passedawidearrayofresponsibilities,from conductingsitevisitsandinteractingwithven- dorstodraftingandissuingdrawings,aswellasexplainingthem on-site.Resolvingconflicts andaddressingon-sitechallengesrelatedtodrawingexecutionhonedmyproblem-solving skills. Thisjourneyprovided mewitha wealthoflearning thatextended beyond architecture.I gainedadeeperunderstandingofclientpitching,vendormanagement,andinterpersonal dynamics,allthankstomyarchitectandmentor,Ar.LakshmiChandSingh.Herjoyfuland optimisticapproachmadetheentireprocessenjoyableanddeeplyimpactful. ThesoftsurfacematerialpalettedrawsonthewidercraftsmanshiptraditionoftheIndiansubThesoftsurfacematerialpalettedrawsonthewidercraftsmanshiptraditionoftheIndiansub continentandtakesitscuesfrom theadjoiningLodhiGardens.Thishasmanifestedinamate- rialvocabularythatusesconcrete,exposedbrickandhardwood,contrastedwithtraditional andcontemporaryfabricsandartworksthatdraw onthebotanicalcontextwithinwhichthe buildingissituatedaswellasabstractedformsderivedfrom thematerialjuxtapositionsinthe existingbuilding.Thegraphiclanguagedrawsinspirationfrom Stein’smodernregionalism as wellasthemyriadcoloursoftheLodhigardens. Thecolourpalettecomprisesofnaturaltonesprimarilyleafygreensandlandscapebrowns thatbring theoutsidein.Contextualvisualslikeflorals,botanicaldrawings,used judiciously acrossthesoftfurnishingslendasubtle,earthyqualitytothespace.Goingforwardthe‘lin- ear-greenstory’canbeextendedintoalltouchpointslikeroom collaterals,brochures,and communication.ThiswillhelptobuildauniqueidentityfortheIIC Residenceswhilecreating asynergisedexperiencefortheguest.
