SKELEC 15th Anniversary & Customer Appreciation Month Proposal SKELEC will celebrate its 15th Anniversary from August 1 to 31, 2026, under the theme “Powering Communities, Powering Progress.” The anniversary celebrations will coincide with Customer Appreciation Month, providing an opportunity to recognise SKELEC’s employees, strengthen customer relationships, demonstrate the Company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, and commemorate 15 years of service to the people of St. Kitts. The purpose of this proposal is to outline the activities and associated budget considerations developed by the Events Committee for submission to Senior Management and the Board of Directors for review and approval. The full anniversary programme has a particularly strong strategic balance: faith and reflection through the Church Service; employee recognition through the Luncheon; corporate social responsibility through the Horizon Center initiative; fellowship and camaraderie through Beer, BBQ & Lime; health and well-being through Power in Motion; employee engagement through the Dress-Up Day; and customer appreciation through the August 28 activities.
Church Service and Employee Appreciation Luncheon - Sunday, August 9 The anniversary celebrations will formally commence with a Thanksgiving Church Service at the Rivers of Living Water Christian Center International, located at Lime Kiln Commercial Development. The service will be followed by an Employee Appreciation Luncheon. Two quotations, inclusive of menu options, have been submitted for review and consideration: one from the Marriott Resort and another from Spice Mill Restaurant. Following its preliminary review, the Events Committee recommends that the proposal submitted by Spice Mill be given strong consideration. To date, 21 employees have RSVP’d for the Church Service and Luncheon, with approximately half indicating an interest in bringing a guest. The Committee proposes that, should fewer than 70 employees confirm attendance, SKELEC accommodate the cost of one guest per attending employee. However, should employee attendance exceed 70 persons, employees wishing to bring a guest would be required to cover the associated cost. Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative - Saturday, August 15 As part of SKELEC’s continued commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Events Committee proposes partnering with the New Horizon Center, which serves delinquent, at- risk, and juvenile youth. The proposed initiative would provide an opportunity for SKELEC employees to engage meaningfully with vulnerable young people while demonstrating the Company’s commitment to community development and social responsibility. Subject to consultation with the management of the facility to identify its areas of greatest need, activities may include mentorship sessions, interactive career talks, energy conservation education, team-building exercises, donations of care packages or school supplies, and a small beautification or facility improvement project. The Committee recommends that preliminary discussions be held with the relevant authorities before finalising the scope and associated budget for this initiative. Employees would be encouraged to wear outfits inspired by the anniversary theme and colours: wine red and gold as the primary colours, complemented by blue, cream, and green. Photographs of participating employees would be captured throughout the day, and a Best- Dressed Male and Best-Dressed Female would be selected through either independent judging or social media voting. To encourage participation and ensure equal recognition, the Committee proposes awarding each winner a prize, such as dinner for two, a spa package, or a barber voucher. Power in Motion: SKELEC Wellness Experience - Saturday, August 22 As part of SKELEC’s commitment to employee well-being and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, this initiative would provide employees with an opportunity to participate in a company-sponsored health and wellness activity of their choice. Proposed activities include a guided bicycle tour or a group Pilates session, allowing employees to select an experience that best aligns with their interests and preferred level of physical activity. SKELEC would cover the cost of participation for registered employees, subject to an established registration deadline and the availability of spaces. Employees would be invited to register in advance and select their preferred activity to assist the Events Committee with finalising participation numbers, vendor arrangements, safety considerations, and the associated budget. To further enhance the experience, the Committee may consider providing participants with water, light healthy refreshments, commemorative wellness items, and coordinated SKELEC- branded attire, where available. The event would build upon successful initiatives undertaken in previous years, including a health fair, the distribution of snack plates and refreshments to customers, and a customer appreciation raffle. To encourage the adoption of digital payment services while continuing to recognise customers who conduct business in person, the Committee proposes two raffle categories: one for customers who utilise SKELEC’s online payment platform and another for customers who make payments in person. Eligibility criteria may include customers with no outstanding arrears or those who demonstrate a consistent record of timely bill payments.
