The report outlines the ISRC consultant's aim to support the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) in transforming the project area into a liveable city through integrated urban planning and climate-resilient infrastructure. It focuses on improving municipal revenues via land value capture and sustainable service operations.
Key components include Component A: establishing measures for sustaining operation and maintenance of storm water drainage systems in GCC. This involves a Performance Based Incentives (PBI) program, with orientation conducted for over 150 engineers and stakeholder consultations across all 15 zones.
Component B focuses on enhancing capacity of GCC and project communities in urban flood preparedness and disaster resilience. Component C aims to improve existing flood relief camps to be gender-responsive, socially inclusive, and climate and epidemic resilient.
