Local Aaj Kal Project Brief - House of Fett SS26 Collection

This document is a project brief for developing a five-ensemble Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear collection for the contemporary Indian fashion brand House of Fett. It is intended for designers and fashion students working on print-based collections.

This project brief outlines the development of a Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear collection called Local Aaj Kal for the brand House of Fett. The collection is inspired by the nostalgia, movement and everyday stories of Mumbai's local trains, transforming familiar journeys into wearable memories.

The document begins with a brand analysis of House of Fett, describing it as a contemporary Indian fashion brand known for bold yet minimal designs. It identifies the target audience as women aged 22-40 who are fashion-forward, urban, and based in metro cities and global NRI hubs, with a price range of ₹2,999-₹8,499.

An inspiration and concept board draws from Mumbai's local train map and Jaipur's havelis. The fabric and color board specifies white (11-0601 TPX) and off-white (11-0602 TCX) cotton flex and cotton cambric fabrics at 130 GSM and 90 GSM, chosen to express inclusivity through subtle color harmony.

The motif study section explores food motifs, bold numbers, grid patterns, vintage postal elements, and postage designs. Final motifs include Ladies' Only signs, dabbawalas, railway tracks, window grids, train windows, passengers, emergency chains, station clocks, and local food items like nimbu paani and bhel.

The motifs were developed digitally using Procreate. The collection aims to create original digital print designs and integrate handcrafted embellishments into the final garments, positioning the collection as accessible premium resortwear.
