Avogadro’s Americano On the island of Tinian, these are the most common energy drinks students purchase. However, are they getting their money’s worth with every bit of caffeine? Let’s find out!
WARNING: CALCULATIONS, COST, CONSUMPTION Calculations: Since most nutritional values show the ser ving sizes as fluid ounces (fl. oz .) and milliliters, I used a converter from fluid ounces to grams with a similar density of soda for the mass per ser ving of each beverage. Using a calculation with a similar density of soda creates the closest estimation due to a similar composition such as the characteristic of carbonation and sweeteners. Work is shown for the rest of the calculations required for this project . Costs: Costs of cans are derived from Amazon by dividing the whole price sold by the bulk by the number of cans included. Prices are subject to change and are recent as of June 2026. Overconsumption of Caffeine: Overconsumption of caffeine can be linked to various issues. Some may include the following: Anxiety, disruption of sleep patterns, digestive issues, muscle breakdown, and increase of urination.

BOX CHART We know that we are comparing 5 different beverages (Red Bull, Monster, Celsius, Rockstar, and 5 Hour Energy) with their costs and how much caffeine each ser ving gives for the set price. We’ve set out the intermediary information needed to calculate the cost of the caffeine molecules in each ser ving. How much does it cost per caffeine molecule for each of the 5 beverages? Based on the data table shown in the previous slide, Rockstar is the best choice as it is the lowest cost per caffeine molecule. Though Celsius and 5 Hour Energy contain the most caffeine per ser ving , comparison shows that the best value must be weighed on both cost and caffeine content and not caffeine content alone. Rockstar is more cost effective because it is cheap, while Celsius and 5 Hour Energy, which are more expensive, are less cost effective.
