The Goods Vol. 1: Old Vines

The first volume of a quarterly wine subscription called The Goods. This edition focuses on old-vine wines, with six bottles from producers including Tin Shed Wines (Barossa Valley, Australia) and Seegut Lentsch (Neusiedlersee, Austria). Each wine is presented with its story, grape variety, region, alcohol percentage, how it is made, tasting notes and suggested food pairings.

The Goods Vol. 1: Old Vines is the launch issue of a quarterly wine subscription box. It is designed for wine enthusiasts who want to discover interesting bottles without extensive research. The document introduces the concept of the subscription and explains why old-vine wines are the focus of this first edition.

The opening section presents the GWGP manifesto, explaining the founder's personal connection to old-vine wines and the decision to partner with The Old Vine Conference, a non-profit protecting old vineyards worldwide. It discusses the resilience of vines that survive decades of weather, disease and economic changes, and the agricultural and historical value of keeping them in the ground.

The document then profiles the first two wines in the box. Wine one is Tin Shed Wines Lazy Arvo Grenache 2022 from the Barossa Valley, Australia. It covers the winery's history starting in a backyard shed, the 80-year-old vines from the Tscharke family's organic vineyard in Stonewell, and the winemaking process including hand-picking and aging in seasoned French oak.

Wine two is Seegut Lentsch Blaufränkisch Ried Lüss 2019 from Neusiedlersee, Austria. The text describes the Lentsch family's multi-generational winery, their 30-metre brick vaulted cellar built in 1962, and the Ried Lüss vineyard with vines over 50 years old growing on soils ranging from salty black earth to limestone. The wine spends 16 months in barrique.

The final section looks ahead to future editions. It invites reader feedback to shape subsequent volumes, promotes the online shop where subscribers can reorder wines with a 10% discount, and announces that Volume 2 in March 2027 will feature women winemakers. Contact and website details are provided at the end.
