Creation: God Made the World Before there were mountains, oceans, trees, animals, or people, there was only God. God has always existed. He is powerful, wise, and full of love. Then God decided to create a beautiful world. On the first day, God said, "Let there be light." At once, a bright light appeared. God separated the light from the darkness. He called the light day and the darkness night. God saw that it was good. On the second day, God made the great sky above the earth. Soft white clouds floated across the blue sky, making the world even more beautiful. God saw that it was good. On the third day, God gathered the waters together so that dry land appeared. He called the dry land Earth and the waters Seas. Then God made green grass, colorful flowers, bushes, and tall trees. Every plant grew just as God had planned. God saw that it was good.2
On the fourth day, God placed the sun in the sky to shine during the day. He made the moon to give light at night and filled the heavens with countless stars. They helped mark days, seasons, and years. God saw that it was good. On the fifth day, God filled the seas with fish of every kind. He made tiny fish, large whales, playful dolphins, and many other sea creatures. He also filled the sky with beautiful birds that soared through the air with joyful songs. God blessed them and saw that it was good. On the sixth day, God made all the animals that live on the land. There were gentle sheep, strong horses, playful monkeys, roaring lions, tall giraffes, tiny ants, colorful butterflies, and every other kind of animal. Each one was special because God made them all.3
Then God did something even more wonderful. God created the first man, Adam, in His own image. He formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life. Adam became a living person. God placed Adam in a beautiful garden called Eden. The garden was filled with fruit trees, flowing rivers, flowers, and peaceful animals. God asked Adam to care for the garden and enjoy all that He had made. God saw that Adam should not be alone. So God created the first woman, Eve, to be Adam's companion. Together they enjoyed God's beautiful creation and lived in the wonderful garden He had prepared for them. God looked at everything He had made—the sky, the seas, the land, the plants, the animals, and the first people. Everything was exactly as God wanted it to be. The Bible says that God saw everything He had made, and it was very good. On the seventh day, God finished His work of creation and rested. He blessed the seventh day and made it a special day to remember His wonderful work. Today, when we see bright flowers, singing birds, sparkling stars, gentle rain, towering mountains, or smiling faces, we can remember that God is our loving Creator. Every person is precious because we are made in God's image. We can thank Him by caring for His creation and treating others with kindness and respect.4

Adam and Eve in the Garden After God created the heavens and the earth, He planted a beautiful garden called Eden. It was filled with green trees, colorful flowers, sparkling rivers, and delicious fruit. Everything God made was good.God placed the first man, Adam, in the Garden of Eden. Adam's job was to care for the garden and enjoy all the wonderful things God had created.God loved Adam and gave him one important command."You may eat fruit from every tree in the garden," God said, "except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You must not eat from that tree."God's command was good because He wanted to protect Adam.Then God saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone. So God created the first woman, Eve. Adam and Eve lived happily together in the beautiful garden. They enjoyed walking with God and caring for His creation.One day, a serpent came to Eve. The serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord had made.The serpent asked, "Did God really say that you must not eat from any tree in the garden?"Eve answered, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God told us not to eat from the tree in the middle of the garden."Then the serpent tempted Eve to disobey God by telling her something that was not true.Instead of trusting God's words, Eve chose to eat the fruit from the tree God had forbidden. She also gave some to Adam, and he ate it too.At that moment, Adam and Eve realized they had disobeyed God. They felt ashamed and tried to hide from Him among the trees of the garden.6
Later, God came to the garden and called, "Adam, where are you?"God already knew where Adam and Eve were, but He wanted them to come to Him and tell the truth.Adam and Eve admitted what they had done.Their disobedience brought sadness into God's perfect world. Because of sin, life would now include pain, hard work, and death. Adam and Eve could no longer live in the Garden of Eden.Before they left the garden, God made garments of skin for Adam and Eve to wear, showing His care for them even after they had sinned.God also gave them a wonderful promise. One day, He would send a Savior who would defeat evil and bring hope to the world. Many years later, God fulfilled that promise by sending His Son, Jesus Christ.Although Adam and Eve made a wrong choice, God's love for people never ended. God wants us to trust Him because His commands are always good. When we sin, we can come to God with humble hearts, ask for His forgiveness, and follow Him.7

Long ago, there was a man named Noah. Noah loved God and wanted to do what was right. While many people around him chose to do wrong things and did not listen to God, Noah trusted God with all his heart. One day, God spoke to Noah. "Build a great ark," God said. "A flood will cover the earth, but I will keep you, your family, and many animals safe." Noah had never seen a flood like the one God described. Building such a huge ark seemed impossible, and many people laughed at him. They wondered why he was working so hard on such an enormous boat. But Noah did not stop. He believed that God always tells the truth. Day after day, Noah worked faithfully. His sons helped him build the ark just as God had commanded. Every board, every beam, and every door was made according to God's instructions. When the ark was finished, something wonderful happened. Animals began to come from every direction. Great elephants walked beside tiny mice. Tall giraffes stood near little rabbits. Colorful birds flew through the sky, and lions, sheep, horses, and many other creatures entered the ark. God brought them safely to Noah. Then Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives entered the ark. God Himself closed the door. Soon, dark clouds filled the sky. Rain began to fall. It rained for many days and nights. The waters rose higher and higher until they covered the land. But everyone inside the ark was safe because God kept His promise. For many months, the ark floated on the water. God never forgot Noah or the animals. At the right time, God sent a wind, and the waters slowly began to go down. When the land became dry again, Noah opened the ark. The animals came out, filing the earth once more. Noah's first act was to thank God for His protection and faithfulness.Noah Builds the Ark9

12The Tower of BabelLong ago, after the great flood, Noah'sfamily grew into manyfamilies. At that time, everyone on earth spoke the same language. They could all understand one another. Asthe people traveled together, they came to a wideplain in the land of Shinar. They decided to stay there. The people said to each other, "Come! Let's make bricks and build a great city. Then let's build a tower that reaches toward the heavens. We will make a great name for ourselves so we won't be scattered over the earth." But this was not what God wanted. God had told people to spread out and fill the earth. Instead of trusting and obeying Him, they wanted to become famous and do things their own way. The Lord came to see the city and the tower the people were building. God said, "If they all speak one language and work together like this, nothing they plan will be impossible for them. Come, let us confuse their language so they will not understand one another." Suddenly, the people could no longer understand each other's words. Friends could not talk to friends. Builders could not understand the workers beside them. They had to stop building the city and the tower. Then God scattered the people across the whole earth. As they spread out, they formed many nations and spoke many different languages. The city was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth and scattered the people everywhere.

Abraham amd Isaac Long ago, God gave Abraham and Sarah a wonderful gift—a son named Isaac. Abraham and Sarah loved Isaac very much because he was the child God had promised them.One day, God tested Abraham's faith. He said, "Abraham!""Here I am," Abraham answered.God told Abraham to take Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him as a sacrifice on a mountain that God would show him. Abraham did not fully understand why, but he trusted God and chose to obey.Early the next morning, Abraham took Isaac, two servants, and a donkey. They carried wood for the offering and began the journey.After three days, they saw the mountain from far away. Abraham told the servants, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will come back to you."14

17Baby Moses in the Basket Long ago, the people of Israel lived in Egypt. They worked very hard because Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, made them his slaves Even though life was difficult, God loved His people and watched over them.During that time, a baby boy was born to a man named Amram and his wife, Jochebed. They thanked God for their precious son. The Bible tells us that he was a beautiful child.But Pharaoh had made a cruel law because he was afraid the Israelites would become too many. He ordered that every baby Hebrew boy should be killed.Jochebed loved her baby very much. She trusted God and hid him safely in her home for three months. As the baby grew louder, she knew she could no longer keep him hidden.So Jochebed carefully made a small basket from reeds. She covered it with tar and pitch so it would float on the water. Then she gently placed her baby inside the basket.With a prayer in her heart, Jochebed placed the basket among the tall reeds along the edge of the Nile River. She trusted that God would take care of her little son.
18Nearby, the baby's older sister, Miriam, watched from a distance to see what would happen.Soon, Pharaoh's daughter came to the river to bathe. She noticed the little basket among the reeds and asked one of her servants to bring it to her.When she opened the basket, she saw the tiny baby crying. Her heart filled with compassion."This is one of the Hebrew babies," she said.Just then, Miriam bravely stepped forward."Would you like me to find a Hebrew woman to take care of the baby for you?" she asked.Pharaoh's daughter smiled and said, "Yes, please."Miriam hurried home and brought her own mother, Jochebed.Pharaoh's daughter asked Jochebed to caeare for the baby until he was older. She even paid her to look after him. God had wonderfully answered Jochebed's prayers.When the child grew older, Jochebed brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, who adopted him as her own son.She named him Moses, because she had drawn him out of the water.Although Moses grew up in Pharaoh's palace, God had a special plan for his life. Many years later, God chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and toward the land He had promised them.From the very beginning of Moses' life, God was watching over him. Even when everything seemed dangerous, God was working quietly to protect him and prepare him for His great purpose.God also watches over us. He knows us, loves us, and has a purpose for every life. We can trust Him because His care never fails.

Moses Parts the Red Sea After many years of slavery in Egypt, God rescued the Israelites. He chose Moses to lead His people out of Egypt and toward the land He had promised them. The Israelites were happy to be free. They traveled together with their families, following God's guidance. During the day, God led them with a pillar of cloud, and at night He led them with a pillar of fire, showing them the way. Soon they reached the shore of the Red Sea. Behind them came a frightening sight. Pharaoh had changed his mind and sent his army with horses and chariots to bring the Israelites back to Egypt. When the last Israelite reached the other side, Pharaoh's army followed them into the path through the sea. Then God told Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea once more. Moses obeyed, and the waters returned to their place. The Egyptian army was overwhelmed by the sea, and the Israelites were safe on the opposite shore. When the people saw what God had done, they were filled with joy. They praised God because He had rescued them with His mighty power. Moses and the Israelites sang songs of thanksgiving to God. They knew that He had kept His promise and had saved His people. The crossing of the Red Sea reminds us that nothing is impossible for God. Sometimes we face problems that seem too big for us, but they are never too big for Him. When we trust God and follow His guidance, He is always with us. He knows the way, even when we cannot see it. God's power is greater than every obstacle, and His plans are always good.God sent a strong east wind, and the waters of the sea began to separate. David and Goliath Many years ago, the people of Israel were at war with the Philistines. Each army stood on opposite hills with a valley between them.Every day, a giant warrior named Goliath came forward. He was very tall and very strong. He wore heavy armor and carried a large spear. In a loud voice he shouted, "Choose one man to fight me! If he wins, we will serve you. But if I win, you will serve us."When the Israelite soldiers heard Goliath, they became afraid. Even King Saul was frightened. For forty days, Goliath came out every morning and every evening, and no one was brave enough to fight him.At that time, a young shepherd named David was caring for his father's sheep. One day, David's father asked him to take food to his three older brothers, who were serving in King Saul's army.When David arrived at the camp, he heard Goliath's challenge. David was surprised that everyone was so afraid.23
David said, "Why should anyone fear this giant? The living God is with us."Some people thought David was too young to help. But David trusted God. David took it off. Daniel in the Lions' Den A long time ago, there was a man named Daniel who loved God very much. Daniel prayed to God every day and always tried to do what was right. He was honest, kind, and wise.King Darius trusted Daniel because he worked hard and always told the truth. The king made Daniel one of the most important leaders in the kingdom.Some of the other leaders became jealous. They wanted Daniel's job, but they could not find anything wrong with him. Daniel was faithful in everything he did.Then the jealous leaders made a plan.They went to King Darius and said, "Your Majesty, everyone should pray only to you for the next thirty days. Anyone who prays to another god or person should be thrown into the lions' den."The king did not realize they were trying to trap Daniel. He agreed to the new law and signed it.When Daniel heard about the law, he did not become angry or afraid. He went home, opened his windows toward Jerusalem, and prayed to God just as he had always done. Three times that day, Daniel thanked God and prayed for His help.The jealous leaders watched Daniel. When they saw him praying, they hurried to the king."Daniel has broken your law," they said. "He prayed to his God instead of praying to you."26
King Darius was very sad. He liked Daniel and wanted to save him, but the law could not be changed.With a heavy heart, the king said to Daniel, "May your God, whom you serve faithfully, rescue you."Daniel was placed inside the lions' den. A large stone was rolled across the entrance, and the king sealed it.That night, King Darius could not sleep. He was too worried about Daniel. He did not eat or enjoy any entertainment because he hoped Daniel would be safe.Very early the next morning, the king hurried to the lions' den.He called out, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God been able to rescue you from the lions?"Then Daniel answered, "My king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths. They have not harmed me because I was found innocent before God."The king was filled with joy. He ordered his servants to lift Daniel out of the lions' den. Daniel did not have a single injury because he trusted in God.King Darius praised the God of Daniel and made a new law that people throughout his kingdom should honor the living God.Daniel's story reminds us that we should always pray, trust God, and remain faithful to Him. God is always with His people and cares for them, whatever happens.27

Jonah and the Great Fish Long ago, God spoke to a man named Jonah."Jonah," God said, "go to the great city of Nineveh. Tell the people to turn away from doing wrong and return to Me."But Jonah did not want to go to Nineveh. He was afraid, and he did not want to deliver God's message. Instead of obeying God, Jonah decided to travel in the opposite direction.He went to a seaport, boarded a ship, and sailed away.As the ship crossed the sea, God sent a powerful storm. The wind blew fiercely, and the waves crashed against the ship. The sailors became frightened. They tried everything they could to save the ship, but the storm only grew stronger.While everyone else was worried, Jonah was asleep below the deck. The captain woke him and said, "Pray to your God! Maybe He will help us."Soon, Jonah realized that the storm had come because he had disobeyed God.He told the sailors, "I worship the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth. The storm has come because I ran away from Him."The sailors did not want to throw Jonah into the sea, but the storm became more dangerous. Finally, Jonah told them to do so. As soon as Jonah entered the water, the sea became calm.God had already prepared a great fish.29
The great fish swallowed Jonah, and Jonah remained inside it for three days and three nights. Inside the fish, Jonah prayed to God. He admitted that he had been wrong, thanked God for hearing his prayer, and promised to obey Him.God heard Jonah's prayer. Then He commanded the great fish to bring Jonah safely back to dry land.Once again, God spoke to Jonah."Go to Nineveh and give the message I tell you."This time, Jonah obeyed.Jonah traveled to Nineveh and told the people, "Turn away from your sins and seek God."The people listened carefully. From the greatest to the least, they were sorry for the wrong things they had done. Even the king humbled himself before God and encouraged everyone to turn from evil and seek God's mercy.When God saw that the people truly repented, He showed them mercy and did not bring the judgment He had warned about.Jonah became unhappy because God had forgiven the people of Nineveh.God gently taught Jonah an important lesson. He reminded Jonah that He is compassionate, patient, and full of love. God cares for every person because He created them all.Jonah learned that God's love is greater than our own understanding. God wants people everywhere to turn to Him and receive His forgiveness.30
