‘CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF COMMUNITY’ SAHAVAS RESIDENCY - GROUP HOUSING Sahavas Residency embodies the spirit of togetherness, offering a harmonious blend of architectural innovation and community-centric design. With wave-like balconies symbolizing the flow of life and thoughtfully integrated ameni- ties, it creates spaces where neighbors connect, interact, and thrive in a vibrant yet serene environment. In the zoning strategy for Sahavas Residency, the 4BHK units are strategically placed on the northern edge of the site, offering residents a premium view of Yashobhoomi. The 2BHK and 3BHK units are aligned along the sides, in- tentionally creating a central landscaped zone that serves as the green heart of the community. Each tower features a double-heighted ground floor, creating a grand and welcoming entrance experience, complemented by elegant lounge areas that foster interaction. 02 REDEVLOPMENT OF KHAN MARKET This project was driven by a comprehensive understanding of Khan Market developed through repeated on-site obser- vations, detailed analysis, and collaborative research. As part of a three-member team, we documented existing con- ditions, studied movement patterns, assessed infrastructure challenges, and explored the socio-cultural dynamics that make Khan Market one of Delhi’s most iconic public destinations. Our proposal envisions transforming Khan Market into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly urban environment that balances contemporary needs with traditional identity. By prioritizing walkability, enhancing public spaces, integrating sustain- able design strategies, and celebrating local craftsmanship, the project seeks to create a cohesive urban experience that is inclusive, resilient, and deeply rooted in the spirit of Delhi. The intervention is not merely a physical redevelopment but a reimagination of how public marketplaces can evolve— preserving their cultural essence while adapting to the demands of modern urban life. By enhancing public spaces, incorporating passive cooling strategies, and celebrating the essence of Indian craftsmanship, the new Khan Market will stand as a model of cultural preservation, economic vitality, and environmental resilience." Khan Market’s architectural vision merges Delhi’s historic character with contemporary design. Mughal and colonial elements like jalis, arches, and arcades, combined with local materials such as sandstone, exposed brick, and lime plaster, create a timeless, contextually rooted, and functional environment. The proposal prioritizes social interaction through landscaped courtyards, stepped plazas, and shad- ed seating areas that support gatherings, cultur- al activities, and everyday use, fostering com- munity engagement and a strong sense of place. The design prioritizes walkability by limiting vehic- ular movement to the periphery and creating wide shaded pathways with tactile paving, rest zones, wayfinding, and landscape elements, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and inclusive experience for all users. Integrated children’s play areas encourage family engagement through safe, interactive spaces de- signed with natural materials. Located near cafés and communal zones, they support supervision while catering to diverse age groups and abilities. The redevelopment adopts a mixed-use ap- proach, with retail and food outlets at ground level and co-working spaces, studios, or ser- viced apartments above, ensuring continu- ous activity and long-term economic vitality. Sustainability is integrated through passive cool- ing features like jalis, shaded corridors, and green roofs, alongside solar energy, rainwater harvest- ing, efficient waste management, and native land- scaping to create a resource-efficient environment. For safety, 60 m³, i.e., 60,000 liters. In July and August alone, these two “eye basins” can collectively harvest over 82.5 m³ of water, making them highly effective flood-control and reuse zones during monsoon."2 EYES" LOW-LYING GARDEN BASINS 1. Layers of Earth ‘STRATA’CONCEPTCONCEPTThe earth remembers everything. Every layer of soil, rock, and sediment is a page in a 4.5 billion year archive — recording extinctions, evolutions, climatic shifts, and the slow emergence of life. This museum does not merely display that archive. It is the archive.The concept is based on the idea of a palimpsest—something that holds many layers of information from different times, like an manuscript that has been written and rewritten over centuries. Just like the Earth records its history in rock layers, this museum shows the passage of time through its architecture.
