Architecture Between Density and Belonging 1

Across generations of Indian architecture, the angan has remained more than an open space. It is where children learn to walk. Festivals unfold. Conversations begin. Seasons become visible. Angan 18 reinterprets this timeless typology within a contemporary neighbourhood. Instead of private isolation, angan becomes a shared social landscape connecting eighteen independent homes. The Idea of the Angan
Living Around Landscape Nature is not inserted after planning. It is the framework upon which planning begins. Trees become landmarks. Lawns become gathering spaces. The landscape softens boundaries between architec- ture and community. Ventilation Passive comfort begins with orientation. Cross ventilation allows interiors to breathe nat- urally while reducing dependence on mechani- cal cooling. The organisation of built form and open space creates a continuous exchange between archi- tecture and climate. Architecture of Natural Light Every opening negotiates between privacy and daylight. Rather than relying on expansive glazing, carefully posi- tioned windows frame gardens, courtyards and sky. Throughout the day, sunlight becomes an architectural ma- terial, constantly redefining interior space.
Sequence Architecture is experienced through movement. From the entrance gate to the individual home, the journey gradually shifts from the city to the neighbourhood, from public to personal. Each transition is intentionally compressed and released, making arrival a spatial experi- ence rather than a destination.
