Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Breeze Fusion is a partnership student-led business formed at Roger Clarke High School, under the Junior Achievement Company of Entrepreneurs (JACE) Programme. The company was created to solve a real problem faced by farmers, students, vendors, construction workers, gardeners, and other outdoor workers, who spend long hours in Jamaica's heat with limited access to electricity. The company's slogan is "Cooler Heads, Greener Future - Stay Cool, Save the Planet." Breeze Fusion's main product is the Solar Eco-Cooling Hat, a wearable, sun powered hat designed to provide cooling airflow, sun protection, a built-in light, and USB charging support for users in outdoor or isolated environments. Our mission was to create eco-friendly and innovative products that increase comfort, safety, and output for people working outdoors. Our vision was to become a leading student innovation company in Jamaica, by providing sustainable solutions for farmers and outdoor workers. During the year, the team developed a prototype, received support from JA Jamaica, tested the product with stakeholders and identified key areas for improvement. Although the business recorded a small estimated first-year profit due to competitive school activities, development and startup costs, the experience helped the team gain valuable skills in budgeting, product design, teamwork, customer discovery, and marketing. 1

Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion MARKETING AND SALES STRATEGY Business Name: Breeze Fusion-A Junior Achievement Company Product: Solar Eco-Cooling Hats Slogan: Cooler heads, Greener Future….Stay cool, Save the Planet Breeze Fusion was a creative student-led partnership business that was established to solve real problems in communities. The business made solar-powered cooling hats for people who worked outside in the hot sun. Its main focus was on farmers, farm workers, cyclists, market vendors, ground workers, gardeners, construction workers, and agricultural students. Many of these persons worked for long hours in the heat, which caused tiredness, sweating, headaches, heat stress, heat stroke, and discomfort. Breeze Fusion wanted to help them stay cool, safe, connected, and comfortable while they worked. The Problem In Jamaica, many outdoor workers faced very hot conditions, especially during the dry season. Farmers and other workers could not always stop working because food production and daily work had to continue. However, too much heat affected their health and performance. We saw this problem and decided to create a product that was simple, smart, eco-friendly, helpful, and did more than just block the sun. Our Product Our product was a solar-powered cooling hat. It was made from strong, lightweight, eco-friendly, and UV-protective materials. The hat used solar power to provide cooling, so the same sun that caused the heat also powered the solution. It also included a light to help people who worked on farms or outdoors at night. In addition, it had a USB port that allowed users to charge their phones, especially when working in 6
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion mountainous areas. This made Breeze Fusion different from a regular hat. It was not only for fashion; it was designed for comfort, safety, and convenience. Value Proposition Breeze Fusion gave customers more than a hat, it provided relief from the heat. The hat helped to reduce heat stress and tiredness, allowing outdoor workers to work longer and more safely. It also supported environmental protection by using renewable solar energy. The business focused on keeping farmers cool, reducing heat stress, promoting renewable energy, and creating a product that was lightweight, comfortable, and durable for farm work. Target Market Our target customers were farmers, gardeners, farm workers, market vendors, agricultural schools, farmer groups, construction workers, and ground workers. These customers needed the product because they spent long hours outdoors. The eco-friendly cooling hat was also sold to farming organizations and schools that promoted climate-smart agriculture. Marketing Strategy We promoted our eco-friendly cooling hats through farmers' markets, agricultural shows, school events, WhatsApp groups, community meetings, and social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. We used live demonstrations to show how the hat worked. Short videos, posters, flyers, and customer reviews helped people understand why the product was useful and why it was a valuable item. We also offered discounts for group orders. Competition Our competitors included: Regular hats (with no cooling system) 7
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Portable electric fans (not wearable or solar-powered) Air conditioning products (not portable or affordable for outdoor use) Our Advantage Breeze Fusion offered a unique wearable solar-powered cooling solution that was not commonly available on the market. Key Partners Our key partners included agricultural schools, local tailors, Clothing and Textiles teachers, Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), Jamaica 4-H Clubs, and environmental groups. These partners helped with materials, training, testing, promotion, and customer feedback. Cost and Revenue Our costs included purchasing fabric, recycled materials, solar parts, recycled cables, lights, sewing supplies, recyclable packaging, transportation, advertising, and training. We earned money by selling hats to individuals, farmer groups, local construction workers and residents. Breeze Fusion was a business with purpose. It was innovative, eco-friendly, and practical. Our mission was simple: "Cooler Heads. Greener Future." Through teamwork, creativity, and strong marketing, Breeze Fusion's eco-friendly cooling hat became a product with the potential to succeed across Jamaica. Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion MARKET RESEARCH / CUSTOMER DISCOVERY Customer discovery was completed through observation, discussions, product testing, and feedback from students involved in agricultural activities and other persons working outdoors. Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Marketing and Sales Strategy Breeze Fusion promoted the multipurpose Solar Eco-Cooling Hat as a practical, eco-friendly solution for persons who work or study outdoors. The marketing message focused on comfort, safety, renewable energy, and youth innovation. Marketing Channels included Farmers' markets and agricultural shows School events and community meetings WhatsApp groups TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook Flyers, posters, live demonstrations, and customer reviews Pricing Strategy Breeze Fusion used an affordable pricing strategy. The price of each Solar Eco-Cooling Hat was based on the cost of materials, labour, packaging, transportation, and a small profit for the business. The selling prices were as follows: The large hats cost more because they used more material and required more parts. The small hats cost less because they used fewer materials. Since the hats were handmade, Breeze Fusion produced them based on customer orders and demand until advanced equipment was received to improve production. This meant the business did not produce a large number of hats at one time. Instead, the hats were made only when customers placed their orders. Each day, the team checked the available materials, the orders that needed to be completed, and the students who were responsible for each task. The main goal of Breeze Fusion was to produce and sell affordable solar cooling hats that helped students, farmers, vendors, and outdoor workers stay cooler while working or moving around in the heat. The Objectives were To: Produce strong and comfortable cooling hats for customers. Use affordable and safe materials. Make both large and small hats to suit different users. Complete orders on time. Keep proper records of materials, sales, attendance, and deliveries. Improve the product based on customer feedback. Facilities and Labour Breeze Fusion operated as a Grade 9 student-led business. Production was done in a safe classroom (Clothing and Computer Laboratory) or work area under teacher supervision. The area was used for cutting, assembling, checking, and packaging the hats. Labour was provided by the student business team. Each member was assigned a specific duty to help the business run smoothly. Some students assisted with production, while others handled sales, records, communication, packaging, and delivery. Suppliers and Partners Possible partners included farmers group, agricultural schools, local tailors, Clothing and Textiles teachers, Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), Jamaica 4-H Clubs, environmental groups, sponsors, and community organizations. Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Recycled solar panels, power banks and flashlights Cooling material or absorbent lining Thread, glue, or other fastening materials Packaging bags Labels or tags Resource Management We carefully managed resources to reduce costs and protect the environment. We used lightweight and recyclable materials. We reduced waste during production. We reused materials where possible. We tested products to ensure durability and efficiency. Flyers and Promotional Materials Materials were purchased from local shops, fabric stores, and other available suppliers. The team compared prices before buying to ensure that the business kept costs low, but there were cases, where we had to purchase from a supplier at a high price, since it was the only place that had the items. Communication and Coordination Tools The team used: WhatsApp groups for quick team communication. Printed feedback sheets for customer feedback, since the location had internet issues. Spreadsheets for sales, finance, and inventory records. Social media platforms for promotions and product demonstrations. Production Process The production process was completed step by step. First, the team gathered all the materials needed for the hats. The hats were sorted into large and small sizes. The cooling materials were measured and placed carefully inside or around the hat. Each hat was checked to ensure that it was neat, comfortable, 16
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion and safe to use. After production, each hat was packaged and labelled. Completed hats were stored safely until they were delivered or sold to customers. Training All team members were trained and mentored, by teachers, lab technicians and sixth form before they began their duties. Training included: How to handle materials safely How to assemble the hats properly How to check for quality How to record sales and orders How to speak politely to customers How to use online tools for promotion and communication Training helped the team to work together and produce better quality hats. Quality Control Quality control was very important to Breeze Fusion. Each hat was checked before it was sold. The team checked that: The hat was clean and neat. The cooling material was properly attached. The hat was comfortable to wear. The size was correct. The packaging was presentable. If a hat had a problem, it was repaired before it was sold. Customer feedback was also collected to help the team improve the product. 17
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Inventory Control The team kept records of all materials and completed hats. This helped the business know what was available and what needed to be purchased. The inventory record included: Number of large hats. Number of small hats. Materials purchased. Materials used. Hats completed. Hats sold. Hats remaining. This prevented waste and helped the team prepare for future orders. 18
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion HUMAN RESOURCES PLAN The goal of the Human Resources Plan was to ensure that all team members understood their roles and worked together to make Breeze Fusion successful. The objectives were to: Assign clear duties to each team member. Encourage teamwork and responsibility. Ensure that members attended meetings and production sessions. Treat all members fairly. Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Final Design Sheet Student Name: Leojha Dennis Class: 9R Date: October 7, 2025 Project Title: Solar Eco-Cooling Hat Problem Statement: People who spend time in the sun may become hot and uncomfortable. This product is designed to help keep the wearer cool using solar energy. Design Brief: Design and make a hat that uses solar energy to power a small fan or cooling device. The hat should be comfortable, safe, attractive, and useful in hot weather. Target Users: Farmers, students, vendors, construction workers, gardeners, or people walking in the sun. Materials Used Material Purpose Hat or cap Main base of the product Small solar panel Provides power from sunlight Small fan Gives cooling effect Wires Connects solar panel to fan Glue/tape/thread Holds parts in place Decorative materials Improves appearance Recycled materials Makes the design eco-friendly Final Drawing Draw and label your final Solar Eco-Cooling Hat design below. 62
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Labels to include on drawing ☑ Hat/cap ☑ Solar panel ☑ Fan ☑ LED Light ☑ cooling direction/ventilation ☑ Decorations ☑ Adjustable straps How the Product Works Our Solar Eco-Cooling Hat works by using energy from the sun. The solar panel collects sunlight and changes it into electrical energy. This energy powers a small fan attached to the hat. When the fan spins, it blows cool air toward the face and head to help keep the person cool. Eco-Friendly Features Our design helps the environment because it uses solar energy instead of batteries or electricity from a plug. I also used recycled materials such as cardboard, plastic, or old fabric to decorate and build parts of the hat. This helps to reduce waste and encourages people to reuse materials. Improvements Made After Testing After testing, we made the fan more secure so it would not fall off. I also adjusted the wires to make them safer and neater. I placed the solar panel in a better position so it could get more sunlight and power the fan properly. Final Evaluation Criteria Yes No Comment My hat works using solar energy. ☑ ☐ The solar panel powers the fan. My hat is comfortable. ☑ ☐ It fits well and is not too heavy. My hat is safe to wear. ☑ ☐ The wires are covered and secured. My design is creative. ☑ ☐ I used decorations and recycled materials. My product can help keep a person cool. ☑ ☐ The fan blows air toward the face and head. Final Reflection One thing learned from this project is: I learned that solar energy can be used to power small devices such as a fan. I also learned that recycled materials can be used to create useful and creative products. 63
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion One thing I would improve next time is: Next time, I would use a stronger fan and a larger solar panel so the hat can produce more cooling air. 64
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Feedback Summary Report Product: Solar Eco-Cooling Hat Target Users: Agricultural Students, Farmers, and Construction Workers Testing Period: May 18, 2026-June 05, 2026 Theme: Testing and Feedback Focus: Validate product with users The purpose of this feedback was to determine how well the Solar Eco-Cooling Hat worked for its target users. The product was tested mainly by agricultural students to find out if it helped to keep them cool and comfortable during outdoor activities on the school’s farming plot. The test was conducted mainly with Grade 9 and Grade 10 agricultural students. These students were selected, because they were working on the farm plot during the period of Saharan dust, which brought increased heat and discomfort. The students reported that the Solar Eco-Cooling Hat helped to keep them cool while they were outdoors. They also said that the hat made them feel relaxed and calm during use. Another positive comment was that the hat was portable, meaning it was easy to carry, wear, and use while moving around. However, some students expressed concern about the fan/light section resting on their forehead. This made them question whether the design would be fully comfortable for long periods of use. Overall, the feedback showed that the product has useful benefits. It can help to reduce heat discomfort, especially for persons who work or study outdoors. The students appreciated that the hat was cooling, calming, and easy to move around with. Areas for Improvement The main area for improvement is the placement of the fan/light section. The design should be adjusted, so that this section does not press against or rest directly on the user’s forehead. This would make the hat more comfortable and safer for longer periods of use. 65
Roger Clarke High School Breeze Fusion Recommendations: Improve the prototype by correcting the position of the fan/light attachment. After making this improvement, the product will be tested again with agricultural students, farmers, and construction workers to gather further feedback. 66
