Word Basics Project 1-1 About Me

A classroom exercise that walks through creating a simple About Me document in Microsoft Word. It covers basic typing, formatting, and editing skills.

This is a step by step classroom activity for seventh grade students. It teaches basic Microsoft Word skills by having them create a short About Me document. The project is designed to be followed in order, one page at a time.

The first sections cover starting Word, opening a blank document, and splitting the screen. It explains how to use the Windows key with arrow keys or the Maximize button. The instructions emphasize not changing fonts or font sizes.

The middle part guides typing the document content. Students write paragraphs about themselves, including their name, school team, favorite subject, birthday, and hobbies. They also complete a sentence about winning the lottery.

Later steps focus on editing and formatting. Students add their name after the title, insert today's date using the Date and Time tool, and use the Thesaurus to replace a word. They run the Spelling and Grammar checker and proofread their work.

The final section shows how to add a header with the student's name, class period, and project title. The activity ends with instructions for checking the completed document.
