2 DESIGN STATEMENT As a kid growing up in the Kansas City area with expanding suburbs, I would find myself exploring new spaces with their functionality, purpose, finishes and how spaces influence the movement and function of individuals. Witnessing habitats being demolished influences me to pivot the mindset from creating new to reusing, remodeling, and renovating. My interest in technical drawings and concept ideation will reinforce this change. I am eager to further learn and refine my skills to grow my knowledge within the design process. I am committed to always putting my best foot forward and creating valuable, innovative, and impactful experiences. abbylawrenz@yahoo.com (913) 543 - 0473 www.linkedin.com/in/abby-lawrenz CONTACT Kansas State University College of AP Design Bachelor of Science in Interior Design Minor in Community Planning and Well-Being Graduating May, 2027 ABBY LAWRENZ EXPERIENCES KDR Showrooms Intern, Lenexa, KS (Summer of 2024 and 2025) Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab Student Specialist, Hale Library, Manhattan, KS (Aug. 2024 - Present) United Kingdom Study Tour with Interior Design Program (May - June 2025) SKILLS Computer Programing • AutoCAD • Revit • Enscape • InDesign • Photoshop • Microsoft Suite Technical • Communication • Teamwork • Diligent • Detail-Oriented • Thorough Planner • Organized

4 01Kansas State University Third Year, Second Semester Individual Work 5 Months – Design and C.D. Set 302 DELAWARE Program Summary Jewell, a rural town in Kansas, is classified as a food desert. Jewell recently lost its’ grocery store, leaving their access to imported and fresh foods to nothing. To have sufficient food supply, residents must travel to other towns, which can be over an hour away. The community of Jewell has come together to plan and renovate a new market space that provides both food supply and communal hospitality. Project Statement / Concept Indian grass, a tall, native prairie grass is present during the formation of Jewell. As how a community functions, Indian grass does the same. Indian grass is full of nutrients and is part of a bison’s main diet (a symbol of Jewell). With its’ history, endurance, adaptability, and vast root system, all aspects of Indian grass can be connected back to the function of the space and community involvement to make an interconnected whole. 11 02Kansas State University Third Year, First Semester Individual Work Design Charrette - 3 Weeks UNWIND INN Program Summary Ownership of the Simmer Motel in Wamego, Kansas has recently switched hands and wants to remodel and update of their facility. They are looking to create a new existing lobby, breakfast/lounge area and guest rooms that offer “bespoke” experiences that are customizable to each of their guests. Project Statement / Concept Unwind accomplishes the warm, comforting feeling of resting in dim lighting while encompassing rejuvenation from being with others. Unwind promotes community not only as a place to rest, but a “night out” by incorporating luxury materials, warm lighting, local businesses, artists, and musicians. Community is represented by a circle: facilitating communication, collaboration, and valued participation. The foundational structure of Unwind shows this concept, starting as individual and always ending in community.
