Life And Legacy Of Johnny Brooks was born on October 1, 1984 to Vera Singleton and John Brooks in Chicago, IL. He was the youngest of 11 siblings: 4 from his mother and 7 from his father. As a child, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Outreach Community Church with his family. He later joined the choir, started playing the drums and enjoyed the sound. Johnny began his education at Stockton Elementary School. He attended Sullivan High School, where he played basketball and was known for his academics. He attended Dupage College, then transferred to East-West University where he received his Associate Degree. Johnny dedicated most of his adult life to playing football with different organizations. He also earned his black belt at Fred Degerberg Academy where he studied Martial Arts. Later, he became a Substitute Teacher at Cullen Elementary School. Then decided to change his career and receive his CDL where he became a bus driver for Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). He was a member of the CTA family for five years. While working at CTA Allowed him to find his niche.
Johnny known as JB enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, traveling, socializing, and entertaining everybody. He loved building and customizing things as a work of art. He built things that expressed different parts of his personality. JB entertained everybody with his effortless joy but goofy charm, proof that his real legacy is the trail of laughter he left behind. He was also a big fan of the New York Knicks and enjoyed watching all Chicago teams. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Vera Singleton and John Brooks, one of his siblings Kevin Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his loss his siblings, Marcus Smith (wife Kinesha Smith), Willena Singleton, Willie Singleton, Tyrone Singleton, Teresa Brooks - Harper (husband Donald Harper) Kenyetta Brooks, Tynetta Brooks, Telia Brooks, Giovanni Brooks and Swahili Brooks. His Aunt Regina Winters, Uncle Raymond Reese (wife Marcella Reese), nieces, nephews, best friends William Price (wife Robyn Price) Devin Scott and Donald Scott III, two special friends Zoranda Dixon, Shaneka Givens and a host of family and friends. The family would like to express gratitude to everyone during this difficult time. Johnny will be deeply missed and always remembered as a remarkable man and a pillar to his family and community.
