Moonlit is a new literary and art magazine founded by Ana and Ryarose. This first issue, titled The Selenian Season, features poetry, prose, and photography from contributors including Ali Hussian, Christina Dcosta, and others. The magazine aims to give voice to unheard artists without restricting them to a single theme.
The issue opens with an editorial note explaining the selenian season, the Moon's cycle of two weeks of light followed by two weeks of darkness. This astronomical concept serves as a metaphor for endurance and creative patience throughout the collection.
Literary works include Christina Dcosta's "Silver Shadows and Stolen Nights," a romantic piece about a moonlit rooftop encounter, and "Puppet Princess," a dark fantasy narrative about a conflicted assassin. Other pieces explore themes of silence, desire, illness, and emotional isolation.
The magazine also includes photography spreads by Akshit Bali, Ojass Magotra, and Sukriti Bhagat. A contributors list shows 20 writers and artists who submitted work for this open-themed inaugural issue.
