A Saline County native and Bryant High School graduate, Anita earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from UALR before launching a successful corporate career in Dallas. There, she worked as a National Radio Sales Representative and led the Pro Sports Marketing team for Interep Radio, managing national advertising campaigns for more than 2,500 radio stations and professional sports organizations, including the Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Seattle Mariners. When Anita returned home to Arkansas, she recognized a growing need in the Central Arkansas market: high-quality dog boarding and daycare services. Inspired by the exceptional pet resort she used for her own dogs in Dallas, she set out to create something similar here. Before opening Canine Country Club of Arkansas on November 1, 2004, Anita visited pet resorts across the country, carefully studying best practices and innovative ideas. Her vision was simple but ambitious: create a safe, enriching environment where dogs could exercise, socialize, and thrive. Today, that mission remains unchanged. “Our goal is for every canine guest to be happy, healthy, and safe,” Anita says. “When owners tell us their dogs come home tired, we know we’ve done our job.” Canine Country Club of Arkansas offers dog boarding, daycare, bathing services, and soon, Benton residents will have access to the company’s popular Bark Bus pickup and delivery service. The Roland location sits on 4.5 acres and features an in-ground saltwater pool and indoor clubhouse, while the recently opened Benton location includes an indoor water park and both indoor and outdoor play spaces. Community involvement has always been important to Anita and her team. The business partners with rescue organizations, including the National Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue, and has assisted pet owners affected by natural disasters, including the devastating Central Arkansas tornadoes of 2023. During hurricane evacuations, the team has also helped

Like many businesses, Canine Country Club faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. With travel halted, the facility temporarily had no boarding dogs. Also known as Emmee, Emma, Sugar, Sugar Ball, and Sugar Pie, Emily clearly answers to many loving nicknames! She is the adored feline companion of John and Cecilia Kahn, and a proud 2008 rescue adoption. At about 4½ months old, Emily joined the family alongside her adoptive sister Laurencia, who sadly passed in 2025. Now 18 years old, this American Shorthair Calico still radiates energy and grace. Described at adoption as a “Calico Princess,” Emily quickly taught her parents exactly how true that title was. This royal kitty has quite the story — she survived a serious dental floss incident before adoption, made a QVC television appearance during a shoe segment, and was even immortalized in a stained glass piece from the Netherlands. She sports a heart-shaped mark on her left side, literally wearing her heart on her fur. At home, Emily rules her domain with affection and flair. She loves being carried to breakfast by dad at 5 a.m., drinks only from her electric fountain, and still enjoys laser chases and catnip breaks. As a single mother of three children, she has spent the last eight years building not just a home in Hurricane Lake Estates, but a life filled with purpose, laughter, and lasting memories. Originally from Arkansas, Jody chose Hurricane Lake Estates as the place to raise her family and enjoy a slower pace of life. “I built this home with the vision of raising my kids in a place where we could enjoy the outdoors and make memories together,” she says. Today, that vision is a reality, with plenty of activity, love, and support filling their home each day. Jody’s three children each bring their own unique personality to the family dynamic. Ollie, 16, is a talented musician who regularly performs and continues to develop his passion for music. Lila, 13, is driven and determined, excelling in gymnastics and track while constantly challenging herself to grow. Jacob, 10, is the family’s ray of sunshine, known for his kind heart, love of soccer, and ability to make everyone around him smile. Professionally, Jody has dedicated more than 20 years to helping others as a dental hygienist. What began as a creative outlet has become a way to bring comfort and connection to other families’ homes. The family also includes a lively group of pets. Cooper, their Cavapoo, is full of personality and often acts as if he owns the house. Athena, a black German Shepherd, is intelligent, loyal, and protective. Together with their two cats, the pets add even more energy and entertainment to the household. Faith plays an important role in their lives, and the family attends Rock Creek Church, where they have found encouragement and a strong sense of community. Whether celebrating holidays, enjoying evenings on the porch, spending time by the lake, or cheering each other on at activities and events, Jody believes the most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones. Their family enjoys exploring local restaurants, supporting small businesses, attending Travelers games, and taking advantage of the area’s outdoor beauty. Looking ahead, Jody dreams of an adventure-filled mountain getaway where the family can unplug, explore, and recharge together. The designation places Saline Memorial among the safest hospitals in the nation.
