All notifications and details for training sessions are posted on the Stack team App. In order to ensure that our coaches and managers can plan the training sessions with maximum value and impact, we ask for all players to update their attendance for each session in advance of the day. Tuesday Training Session Times as follows; ▶ U10s & U12s: 5:30pm - 6:30pm ▶ U14s: 6:30pm - 7:30pm ▶ U16s: 7:45pm - 8:45pm ▶ U19s: 9:00pm - 10:30pm In addition to the regular weekly Tuesday training sessions, managers and coaches may arrange some additional ice time with scrimmage sessions, challenge games or extra skills sessions, these will be arranged depending on availability of the ice and may be at an additional cost to the monthly team fees. Training Structure & Player Development: How our training system works, particularly around the two-hour training sessions and the opportunities for players to "train up" with older age groups. Our monthly subscription covers one hour of practice per week. The second hour is provided at no extra cost as part of the club’s development strategy. This additional hour allows us to focus on individual player development, giving us flexibility to tailor each player’s experience based on their progress and readiness. For instance, if there are any issues with discipline or performance, we can adjust or withhold this additional hour accordingly. Moreover, this helps us ensure that players training with higher age groups do so based on their ability, maintaining the quality and speed of practice for everyone involved. Training & Playing With Us...
For Under 10s, we provide one hour of training per week. However, in special cases where players meet exceptional status criteria, they may be invited to train with the U14 group for the second hour. Additionally, U10 players can receive a second hour through the Learn to Play (LTP) program. This is in part because their overall costs are lower due to fewer matches and no referee fees. Our aim is to provide every player with two hours of training per week, starting from the U12 level. That said, we assess new players on a case-by-case basis. For example, a new player at U12 might not be ready to train with the U14 group yet, as it could hinder the flow of the session. However, a new player at U14 could benefit from training down with U12s to build up to the two hours. The general principle we follow is that first-year players will train down and second-year players can train up, provided they meet the required standards and with agreement from the higher age group coach. However, this doesn’t mean a first-year player can't train up if they’re ready. In such cases, the relevant coaches will discuss and agree on a training plan for that player. All junior age group leagues are mixed-gender. The following age group classification apply for junior registrations: Age as of 31/12/2025 Year of Birth League 2025/26 Abbrev. 2025/26 9 or below 2017-2019 Under 10 U10’s 10 2016 Under 12 U12’s 11 2015 Under 12 U12’s 12 2014 Under 14 U14’s 13 2013 Under 14 U14’s 14 2012 Under 16 U16's 15 2011 Under 16 U16's 16 2010 Under 19 U19's 17 2009 Under 19 U19's 18 2008 Under 19 U19's Playing up decision is down to the discretion of the Head coach . The Clubs must demonstrate that due diligence has been done to ensure their responsibility to duty of care is fulfilled following the EIH policies.
Matches The ice Hockey Season runs from September through to June each year. Each team will have to attend home and away matches throughout the season depending on the fixtures time table. All games details are uploaded to the Stack Team App in advance, players will need to ensure their availability is updated in advance of each game. www.teamapp.com TJIHC 2026/27 Unfortunately the club does not provide transport to and from games, it is the players/ parents and guardians who are required to ensure that the players can get to the games. We do not want this to be a barrier for any of our players and appreciate not all families have access to a vehicle, especially for long distance travel… If you require any assistance with travel, please speak to your coach or managers - we have lots of parents travelling who are always happy to support with transport where they can. Be Proud & Show Respect When arriving for and leaving training, a match or other club function it is expected that each player will ensure that their behaviour reflects the values of the club and that they respect all coaches, referees, managers, players, families and members of the public at all times. Playing For Other Teams As set out in the EIH guidelines, players are only allowed to sign and play for one team each season. There may be exceptional times where numbers fall short and a request to join a pool of players to support other teams in the league can be requested. However, this is not a given and is governed by the EIH, if you require additional information about this please speak to the relevant Manager.
Additional Ice Time & Oppotunity For Building Fitness. Dry Land Training The Friday sessions with Coach Paul Shuttleworth, strive to educate, Inform, Help, promote team bonding and having fun! 14 Sally McGibbon TJIHC DSL The club is passionate and committed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all of our players at all times. As Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL) Stuart Harper is responsible for ensuring that the club is compliant with the expectations and standards set out by the EIH on safeguarding. https://englandicehockey.com/safeguarding ▶ TJIHC DSL: Sally McGibbon dsl.tjihc@gmail.com TJIHC manages the changing facilities through support from off ice officials, managers and coaches, details are confirmed on the Stack Team app. The changing areas are required to be supervised by a minimum of two TJIHC representatives (gender appropriate) who hold a satisfactory enhanced DBS check at all times. Parents/ Individuals who have not registered to be an official representative of the TJIHC, are not permitted to enter the changing rooms at any time. Our Club ensures that all its coaches, parents, officials and spectators are aware that adults must not change at the same time, using the same facilities as children. As a parent/guardian, you are responsible for your children before and after their training sessions or games, children MUST be ready to go on to the sessions at the appropriate times and have all of the necessary kit available. All parents/guardian’s/appropriate adults (ALL age Groups) MUST STAY within the building whilst their player(s) are training or playing matches, this is to ensure appropriate adults are around if there is any sort of emergency and to ensure that if the players need to leave the ice for any reason they can be supported and stay safe. If you are unable to stay with your child during the sessions you MUST ENSURE an appropriate adult accompanies your child and the coaches are fully informed of these circumstances.
©Photography; kieren@kierengriffinphotography.co.uk Parents MUST NOT gather around the sides of the ice rink or doors to the ice, at any time during training sessions or matches (unless undertaking specific match day duties.) Seating is available for you to watch from a respectable distance. Additionally You MUST REFRAIN from coaching from the side lines, we like everyone present to support and encourage all of the players, however, you do not know what instructions your child has been given by their coaching team and your child may be carrying out specific tasks/ plays that you may not be aware of. Additional Mental & Physical Support We appreciate that all of our players are individuals, as a club we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their very best and thrive on the ice. If your child has any additional needs or there is any information that you feel the coaching teams would benefit from knowing about your child, to ensure that they can be fully supported. Please complete the disclosure at registration and discuss any potential reasonable adjustments with your team coaches and managers. 02
Code Of Conduct For All Members We all have a responsibility to promote high standards and expectations of behaviour in ice hockey and create a positive environment where participants can enjoy the game safely. As a Club we support The EIH’s Respect programme to ensure Ice Hockey can be enjoyed in a safe, positive environment. Remember! Children’s Ice Hockey is a time for them to develop their technical, physical, tactical, resilience, social and teamwork skills. Winning isn’t everything. To us, enjoyment, growth and wellbeing of our players is the main focus. Parents may feel that offering monetary incentives for players in the team to score goals is a positive ! We strongly advise against this, as this can encourage players to focus on goal scoring only and not what their coaches have instructed them to do or putting in full effort to achieve team success. We ask that you play your part and observe the relevent EIH Code of Conducts listed. https://englandicehockey.com/wp-content/ uploads/2024/07/Code_of_Conduct_Clubs.pdf All people involved in the club will commit themselves to treat everyone with respect, irrespective of ability, gender, ethnicity, disability, cultural background, religion, political affiliation, social class or age.

Code Of Conduct For All Players Our players should be proud to be a part of our club and represent the club's values at all times, promoting high standards of behaviour and positivity regardless of the end results. As a player, you have a big part to play. That’s why The EIH asks every player to follow a Respect Code of Conduct. When playing Ice Hockey for Telford Junior Ice Hockey Club, you agree to the following... I will: ▶ Always play to the best of my ability. ▶ Play fairly - I won’t cheat, complain or waste time. ▶ Respect my team-mates, the other team, the referee and my coach/manager. ▶ Play by the rules, as directed by the referee. ▶ Shake hands/fist pump with the other team and referee at the end of the game. ▶ Listen and respond to what my coach/team manager tells me. Talk to someone I trust or the club welfare officer if I am unhappy about anything at my club. ▶ TJIHC DSL: Sally McGibbon dsl.tjihc@gmail.com
©Photography; kieren@kierengriffinphotography.co.uk Photos and Video We are very proud of our young players and like to take photos of them to capture the magic and memories to be able to celebrate their achievements. Within the Club, we have a Pixalot video camera and mast which we use to record match footage. The coaches may use this to help review performance and progress as well as to inform and educate the young players on subjects such as positional play during future training sessions. The pixalot app is available to download for you to stream the footage in real time. (link) We subscribe to and follow the EIH guidance on the use of photographs and video. https://englandicehockey.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/EIH_ Photography_Filming_and_Live_Streaming_Policy_for_Junior_Clubs.pdf When you complete the registration to join the club, you will be asked for consent to use photos and media videos. 20 Our 24 Hour Rule Sometimes things do not always go as planned for players or spectators when playing ice hockey ! All parents/guardians are welcome to discuss any part of the coaching syllabus and the way our programme is run – either with a coach or a committee member. However, we ask for you to wait to raise any concerns for a minimum of 24 hours. Although we welcome communication in real time with our coaching teams, if there are situations that need escalating or further investigation, our coaches have been advised they do not need to engage in any feedback and conversations until 24 hours have passed. This cooling off period helps to take the emotion out of a situation and allows independent investigations and discussion to share valuable information and agree measures to address the situation and be able to move forward positively. For parents: whilst we will always recognise your right to speak with a coach on behalf of your child, the added benefit of the cooling off period is that you may actually decide that your child is the best person to have the conversation with the coach, and agree on a different approach to find a resolution. Our priority will always be to ensure that our players feel safe and secure, however if our players are unhappy or have any questions about their game, we would like to empower our players to be able to develop their communication and confidence, with the other players, managers and coaches in order for them to have a voice and the appropriate opportunities to share their views and feelings, positively challenge and engage in any potential resolutions, which will also develop their wider life skills.
Remember: Everyone has a bad game (or a bad day at work etc.). Many children are already too hard on themselves when they are not playing well. Helping them understand the ‘big picture’ is crucial if there is a poor result. Mistakes are a natural process of learning; we all make them. After a game or training session which might not have gone well, please ask them about the positive things they experienced - the effort in running back or blocking a shot etc., how they helped the team. We put the process before the outcome, and ask that you do the same.

©Photography; kieren@kierengriffinphotography.co.uk In addition to the essential tasks of washing kit, driving children, feeding them, and encouraging their involvement, there are other ways in which we welcome the active participation of parents, such as at the annual AGM and regular parent and player meetings. To fulfil all of our required off-ice official duties, we ask that at least one parent or appropriate adult per player registers as an off-ice official to help keep the club running smoothly. There is a small registration fee, which will be fully reimbursed by the club.
