August and September host a variety of queer observances including Gay Uncles Day, Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and Bisexual Awareness Week, which culminates in Celebrating Bisexuality Day. September also hosts Belonging Week! This year’s theme is Together in Mission. Together in Impact.”, with the goals being to strengthen connections, foster collaboration and create lasting impact. We are proud to say the Board has put a lot of effort into embodying togetherness and collaboration this year. In April, we began collaborating with African Heritage BRG CRG Chapter to bring a wide variety of informative, enjoyable and community- minded events to our collective members. Through this partnership and others, and in the spirit of connectedness, we’re looking forward to another quarter of meaningful and joyous celebrations of community. We’d love for you to join us! Submissions are currently open for any and all talents (musical, artistic, athletic, magical!). All talents will be shared in a live event during September and viewable on Sharepoint. September 16-23 is Bisexuality Awareness Week Each year, from September 16-23, GLAAD, the Bisexual Resource Center, and Still Bisexual recognize the bisexual+ community for Bisexual Awareness Week, culminating in Celebrate Bisexuality+ Day on September 23. #BiWeek was co-founded by GLAAD in 2014 to draw attention to issues faced by the bi+ community, including erasure and visibility. #BiWeek highlights the experiences, while also celebrating the resiliency of, the bisexual+ community, which includes bisexual, pansexual, fluid, no label, queer, and others. Throughout #BiWeek, allies and bi+ people learn about the history, culture, community, and current policy priorities of bi+ communities. Board Member Spotlight: LISA BEIGHTOL Lisa Beightol (she/her) lives in Pennsylvania, USA and works as a Digital Ops Senior Tester within CRG. When she’s not working, Lisa is running and reading for fun and stress relief. She is also an animal lover, photographer and resin crafter. Her favorite animals are hedgehogs and cats and her favorite dinosaur is the Ankylosaurus. Lisa considers herself a “proud but not loud” member of the LGBTQIA+ community, advocating for her fellow queer folks by supporting LGBTQIA+ organizations, businesses and creators. She attends Pride festivals as both a vendor and guest and will always champion and celebrate the people she loves who are also LGBTQIA+. What’s Lisa’s favorite thing about being LGBTQIA+? “It took me a minute, but I finally know who I am, and I love that I get to celebrate who I am with other members of a beautiful club who just get it.“
