This document is a set of household guidelines for students residing in AHEC student housing. It is intended for students who are moving into or currently living in AHEC apartments.
The guidelines begin with instructions for inspecting the apartment upon arrival. Students must report any damage via a Housing Checklist sent through DocuSign. If the apartment is unsatisfactory, students should take pictures and send them to a specified phone number with a description and apartment number.
The document lists prohibited items and activities. Weapons, guns, candles, incense, and open flames are not allowed. Overnight or daytime guests and pets are prohibited, with service or comfort animals requiring prior approval.
Rules regarding keys and locks are stated. Students must not duplicate or share keys or combination codes with non-assigned students. Changing door locks, damaging furnishings or safety equipment like smoke detectors and sprinklers, and hanging items on walls are forbidden.
The guidelines cover environmental and behavioral expectations. The housing is smoke and drug-free. Alcohol abuse leads to immediate removal, and the legal drinking age in North Carolina is 21. Students must conserve utilities, minimize noise, and maintain clean quarters.
Maintenance and check-out procedures are outlined. Students must report malfunctions and bear costs for negligence. AHEC can enter housing without notice for inspections or repairs. Before vacating, students must clean personal and shared spaces. Keys are returned to a lockbox, and a survey is sent via SMS after check-out.
