FOREVER COMMITTED TO SOUTH AFRICA
ABOUT US WHO WE ARE For over 130 years, the South African Breweries has been a proud part of South Africa’s social and economic fabric. Since our establishment in 1895, we have grown into the country’s leading brewer, with our success closely linked to the growth of the economy and the prosperity of the communities in which we operate. Today, SAB operates seven breweries and 43 depots across South Africa, with a workforce of over 5,000 employees. Beyond our direct operations, we support a beer value chain that sustains over 250,000 jobs, spanning every stage from “seed to sip.” This reflects our broader contribution to the country’s economic development and job creation. Our deep understanding of consumer needs continues to shape and evolve our portfolio. As preferences shift, we have introduced products such as Brutal Fruit Ruby Apple 0%, Castle Free, and Corona Cero to meet changing tastes and lifestyles. SUSTAINABILITY CHEERS TO NATUREAs beer is made with natural ingredients, our business is closely tied to the natural environment. We believe we can help build resilience in our operations and communities by working consistently across three areas of impact Great beers start in the fields of farmers. As partners to farmers for generations, including thousands of direct farmers and suppliers, we understand that a truly sustainable approach to agriculture is one which puts farmers and their communities at the center. That’s why we seek a farmer-centric and context- specific approach to sustainable agriculture, working with farmers and suppliers to help improve their environmental outcomes and livelihoods in our sourcing regions. Water is vital to our business, and it sustains our communities and natural ecosystems. As the world’s leading brewer, we are focused on finding solutions to water challenges in our operations and across our supply chain. By addressing these challenges, we can help improve water availability and quality for the broader watershed and our business. Further, by aiming to restore more water than we withdraw in each of our high-risk watersheds, we can help to enable local economies and livelihoods, increase biodiversity in critical ecosystems, and empower effective collective action that helps reduce water insecurity for millions of people. Beer is made from a few simple ingredients—water, barley, hops, and other high-quality crops—which can be impacted by the effects of a changing climate. We aim to strengthen the resilience of our breweries and value chain, so that our business, communities, and ecosystems can thrive now and into the future. We take a holistic approach to building resilience, pursuing disciplined energy management inside our breweries and working with others across our value chain. By managing energy efficiently and reducing emissions, we believe we can also strengthen cost competitiveness, reduce exposure to volatility, and build a better operating model.
