01 Home stay at ‘gateway to Everest’ hospitality architecture
Home stay at Namchey Bazar was one of the academic projects of vernacular archi- tecture subject. Since the site is located as Namchey Bazar which is also known as the gateyway to everest, is a lot more cold climatic zone also has a contour difference of 1m. The challenge here was to penetrate sunlight in every rooms and also provide a social- ization space just as in Sherpa architecture in Himalaya regions of Nepal. The building materials of the project is similar to the mountain architecture such as stoneslates for roofs, stones for walls and timber for doors and windows. The one identity of this project is the white elevation. Every Sherpa homes are painted white due to its auspicious significance. But since just white elevation seemed to be monotonous they started painting their doors and win- dows with five brilliant colours of buddism flags.
02 Book corner at Kwalkhu conservation studio hey guys? have you guys brought any idea for the proposal of our conserva- tion studio?!? i didnt too.. The wifi in my home doesnt work properly. So, I could- nt search for any references Guys. umm.. I dont have a working environ- ment at my home. We could maybe discuss this when we are in college. I dont have a working table in my home which makes it difficult for me to work. I wish we had some place where we can work together. yeah.. I wish we had a cafe where we could read, work and have coffee so that we can work in groups after college I think we just discussed about what we can pro- pose in Kwalkhu I haven’t. I didnt have power at my house yesterday. So, I couldnt work on it. WHAT’S MISSING IN OUR LIVES AND IN KWALKHU?!?
“Now, with this proposal in Kwalkhu, we can have a space where we can have group discussions. The Kwalkhu street was also a bit bland too but with this proposal there will be more flow of youths in the area. People can enjoy both traditional courtyards of Patan and the Kwalkhu street while doing there work inside the cafe’ “With this book corner there wont be any problem of wifi disconnection” “we can all sit together and discuss our ideas without leaving anyone behind too.” with this proposal we can make student life better. “Yeah. No frustration of power fluctuation- and connectivity.” “And we dont need to worry about the work- ing environment at our homes as well”
03 The Lotus graduation project
My thesis is focused on empowering young peo- ple from slums to reintegrate into society. I drew inspiration from lotus flower, which thrives in harsh environment just like the youths in slums. But despite their circumstances, these young people can have a successful adulthood with right guidence and skills just like anyone else. The lotus flower not only inspired the theme of my thesis, but it also infuenced the design of my plan and elevations. By examining the flow- er closely, I noticed how the stigma connects the entire flower. Similarly, in architecture, a courtyard can serve as the central gathering space that connects the entire space.
04 Baha, Bahi & The macchindranath (research/study and design) The concept of Bahal and Bahils is known to be derived from the swastik sign as it is one of the auspicious signs in both hinduism and buddhism.
After my graduation I had an oppurtunity to work on one of the buildings that was related to a traditional Bahal in Patan. The building was related to the Rato machhindranath chariot which led to the study of the baha bahis and the macchin- dranath. The study mainly focused on the typologies, difference and similarities of bahas and bahis that rsesided in Patan. The study was done for the conceptual development of the build- ing. The building is located in Tangal, Patan known as the macchindrabahal. The bahal is home for the rato macchin- dranath sculpture. While working on it, I also had the chance to study on the history of the bahal. Though, the building was to built in modern technology we somehow managed to incorporate some structures and ele- ments that were related to the history of baha bahis and also with the structure of macchindranath. Translating the structural vocabulary of the machhindranath into building materials.

05 Banglamukhi homestay (interior/construction and exterior)
Banglamukhi refurbishment is a design and construction project from the year 2022-2023. The project started as a renovation project but due to heavy damages on some of the traditional load bearing elements the building was demolished and re-constructed with brick and steel. I got involved in design and 3d of the building with a senior architect. Client insight: The client envisioned a homestay that would welcome tourists visiting Pa- tan, providing a warm traditional living experience. Despite the building’s secluded location within Patan, the client emphasized creating a space that would stand out for its cozy ambience and cultural charm. While the original structure could not be restored to its traditional form, the design aimed to revive the essence of heritage through thoughtfully crafted spaces and elemments. The architecture incorporates features that pay homage to traditional residential designs. Every design element like the alcoves, carved windows, vertical railings and cornices, small cozy spaces were carefully curated to blend modern construction techniques with the timeless appeal of traditional Nepali res- idential architecture.
The project has been successfully completed in the year 2024 and is now in use. Though i couldnt be a part of the interi- or project for this project the experience provided invaluable learning opportunities, particularly in steel and brick. The project itself was a huge challenge from trying to find the right elements to making sure the contemporary did not over shadow the traditional inspired features. It provided profound insights into striking a harmonious balance between modern and traditional architecture styles allowing both to co-exist without one dominating the other.

Interior
The residential interior project, which began in 2023, was truly a roller-coaster experience. With a client who often felt unsure and limited knowledge of available materials in the market, this project became a major breakthrough for me. From selecting tiles and colors to designing cupboards, every detail of the interior taught me the significance of precision. Even something as seemingly minor as a 1-inch gap between the bed and the wall highlight- ed how small oversights can lead to practical challenges. This project played the vital role of detailed planning and its profound impact on creating functional and well-designed spaces. It was an invaluable learning experience that sharp- ened my understanding of how meticulous attention to de- tail can shape the quality and usability of interiors.

CAFE BHAKTAPUR cafe Bhaktapur is an 2024 ongoing project which is located on the near to 55 window complex. The cafe gives an overview of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square from terrace. Right from the start the client wanted an old, weary vibe of traditional architecture of the Newari architecture. He wanted to recreate his childhood memories of the old house he grew up with. With bricks, old woods, mud, stone and raw woods he wanted the cafe to revive his childhood nostalgia.

CITIES FOR WOMEN DESIGN COMPETITION The design competition, organized by the Cities for Women organization, pre- sented a unique and inspiring challenge. With five municipalities and their re- spective open spaces as the focus, participants were tasked with designing and de- veloping these areas into parks specifically catering to women in the community. This one-of-a-kind competition prioritized the safety of women and children, creat- ing inclusive environments that fostered security and comfort. At the same time, the de- signs aimed to transform these spaces into vibrant, functional hubs that could be en- joyed by the entire neighborhood, making them both lively and highly usable. The competition was not only an opportunity to reimagine urban open spaces but also a meaningful initiative to enhance the quality of life for women and their communities.

The Story Behind the Breastfeeding Chair Concept During a site visit to Birgunj for a pond renovation project, I had the opportunity to interact with local women about their practices during the Chhath celebration. Curious, I asked how they managed to change their clothes in such a public setting. They explained that they would form a circle, holding up a cloth to create a private space for the woman inside to change. Though this conversation took place long ago, it left a lasting impression on me. When designing the breastfeeding chair, I drew inspiration from this act of collective support and protection. The design symbolizes women coming together, holding hands metaphorically, to create a nurturing and secure space for each other. The chair embodies the essence of community and care, celebrating the strength and solidarity of women in providing comfort and privacy for mothers
