Message from the Principal On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, N.S.S. College, Pandalam, stands as a distinguished institution whose legacy is firmly rooted in a dual commitment to academic rigour and holistic development. For seven and a half decades, the college has cultivated a reputation for exemplary scholastic achievement, evidenced by consistently outstanding NAAC ranking with A grade with CGPA 3.24 and a tradition of producing accomplished graduates across diverse disciplines. This academic brilliance is complemented by a parallel heritage of non- academic excellence. The college has long championed a vibrant ecosystem of extracurricular engagement, fostering leadership, artistic expression, athletic prowess, and social responsibility through its myriad clubs like NSS,NCC and outreach initiatives. This symbiosis of intellectual and character formation has been the cornerstone of its enduring impact. Marking this historic milestone, the college embarks on a significant new venture to further institutionalise quality enhancement. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is launching a bi-monthly newsletter, a pioneering initiative designed to chronicle and catalyse the institution’s ongoing journey. This publication will serve as a vital conduit for disseminating scholarly activities, pedagogical innovations, student accomplishments, and stakeholder engagements, thereby reinforcing a culture of transparency, shared governance, and continuous improvement. BOTANY The Career Guidance Workshop was organized on 03/02/2026 at Final Year B.Sc. Botany Laboratory for creating awareness among Botany students about emerging career opportunities, skill requirements, and professional pathways in the green and sustainability sectors. Dr. Jithesh Krishnan R, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Botany, welcomed the gathering. The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof.(Dr).M.G. Sanalkumar, Principal, N.S.S. College, Pandalam,. The session was felicitated by Dr. Rakhi R, IQAC Coordinator, and Sri. Jithesh J. Nair, Member, Career Guidance Cell. The technical session was handled by Mr. Vaishak M. V, CEO, Zygreen, who delivered an informative and interactive talk on career opportunities in green technologies, sustainability-driven enterprises, and entrepreneurship.
The release of the Department Newsletter and Student Manuscript Magazine and the workshop on Mushroom Cultivation and Marketing was conducted on 18/03/2026 at Department of Botany.The formal inauguration and release of the Department Newsletter and Student Manuscript Magazine were performed by Prof. Dr. M. G. Sanalkumar, Principal, NSS College, Pandalam. The textbook titled “Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology” was presented to the Department Library, marking a valuable academic contribution. The afternoon session, held from 2.00 PM onwards, featured a handled by the resource person Ms. Anila.
CHEMISTRY The Department of Chemistry organized CHEMFEST 2025–2026 on 18 March 2026 under the banner of the Chemistry Association. The event was conducted with the aim of promoting scientific awareness, creativity, and teamwork among students. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and visitors from various departments. The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M G Sanalkumar, Principal, N.S.S. College. Pandalam. The fest featured a variety of exciting activities that combined science, entertainment, and culture. One of the major attractions of the event was the Exhibition, where students displayed innovative chemistry models, charts, experiments, and eco-friendly projects. The Science Magic Show was another highlight of CHEMFEST. Through fascinating chemical demonstrations and experiments, students were introduced to the magical side of science.
ECONOMICS The PG Department of Economics, NSS College Pandalam, organized a one-day Seminar on Research Methodology on 10th March 2026. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Mrs. Lakshmi N., Head of the Department and followed by the presidential address delivered by the Principal Prof. (Dr.) M. G. Sanal Kumar. Dr. Suby Elizabeth Oommen, Research Guide at the University of Kerala and Associate Professor & Head of the PG Department of Economics, Christian College, Chengannur, delivered the keynote address and led the technical session on “Researchers’ Roadmap: Navigating the Path from Inquiry to Discovery.” The programme was coordinated by Dr. Rajesh R. and Dr. Remyakrishnan R. and concluded with an interactive discussion and feedback session.
Post Graduate Department of Economics, organised a one-day seminar on 16th March 2026, titled “Protecting the Indian Intellect: A Guide to Intellectual Property Rights” aimed to create awareness about the importance of protecting intellectual property and to provide insights into its relevance in the Indian context. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs Lakshmi N., Head of the PG Department of Economics. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) M. G. Sanal Kumar, Principal of NSS College, Pandalam. Dr Jyolsna S., Coordinator, introduced the keynote speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Priyesh C. A., Head , Department of Economics, Government College, Attingal, and Syndicate Member (UGC Nominee) in CUSAT, Kochi. Felicitations were offered by Dr Rakhi R., Coordinator of the IQAC, who appreciated the department's efforts in organising such a relevant academic programme. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Radhika Krishnan, Coordinator.
ENGLISH PG Department of English, N.S.S. College Pandalam organized its 11th annual signature event, Lumina Literacy, on 25th March 2026 at 10.00 am at the college auditorium. The inaugural ceremony was held in the morning session. Renowned playback singer and musician Dr. Kadamanitta V Anu inaugurated the event. Prof. (Dr.) Anjanan J, Head of the
English Department of Pandalam NSS College, presided over the event. The main attraction of the year was the presentation of Sudraka's classical Sanskrit drama Mrichakathika. The program began with sharing memories of the previous years Lumina events followed by Ranga Pooja. Apraj (Charudatta), Amal Dev (Maitreya), Aparna Aji Kailas (Vasanthasena) and Vignesh (Samsthanaka) played the lead roles. The other roles were played by UG and PG students of the department. The artwork, costumes, hairstyle, makeup and stage decorations were all done by the students with the directions of the faculty of the department. The event ended at 5.30 pm with the vote of thanks by Student Coordinators Gopika Gopal and Sreelakshmi S.

Staging of Sudraka’s Mrichchhakatika The Exhibition on ancient literature and culture titled 'Tatva' was organized by the second- year English FYUGP students on 30 March 2026 at room no 12. The event was inaugurated by Principal Prof. M. G. Sanal Kumar in the presence of HOD Dr. J. Anjana, Dr. Sreekala B.,
Dr. Ranjith Krishnan K. R., and other faculty members. The students displayed immense talent through exhibits, books, artefacts, role plays, and quiz competitions. Faculty advisers Dr. Seetha Vijayakumar and Dr. Sambhu R. curated the exhibition to showcase the richness of ancient Indian culture and the Indian Knowledge System. The exhibition attracted great appreciation from students and teachers alike. The event successfully highlighted the creativity, teamork, and cultural awareness of the students.
HINDI The Department of Hindi, N.S.S. College, Pandalam, organized an interactive session on 8th January 2026 with alumna Anjana V. as the chief guest. Currently she is undergoing training at the Indian Naval Base. She shared her experiences and insights into different career
opportunities in Indian Navy. The Department of Hindi, N.S.S. College, Pandalam, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a National Webinar on 10 January 2026 in connection with World Hindi Day. The webinar was conducted on the topic “Hindi Language and Job Opportunities” and featured Shri Manoj Kumar, Assistant Director (Official Language), U R Rao Satellite Centre, Benaluru, as the resource person.
The Department of Hindi, N.S.S. College, Pandalam, organized an Alumni Meet on 09 February 2026 featuring Ms. Arya Jayachandran, a distinguished alumna of the department. During the interaction, she shared her academic journey, career experiences, and valuable insights with the students. The Department of Hindi, N.S.S. College, Pandalam, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a National Webinar on 19 March 2026 at 2.00 p.m. through Google Meet. The webinar was conducted on the topic “शोध प्र विवध (Research Methodology)” with the objective of familiarizing students and researchers with the principles and practices of research in Hindi language and literature.
As part of the S4 Value Added Course (VAC II) curriculum, the students of the Department of Hindi conducted a visit to the Holistic Foundation Centre of Charity & Holistic Health, Poozhickad, Pandalam, on Friday, March 27, 2026. The visit was organized to bridge the gap between academic learning and social reality. The Department of Hindi, N.S.S. College, Pandalam organized the release of the students’ handwritten manuscript magazine “Gulshan”. The programme was held on 30 March 2026 at 10.30 am in the seminar hall. A two-day National Seminar on the "Indian Knowledge System" titled ‘Indian Knowledge System : A Multidisciplinary Perspective For Comprehensive Global Transformation’ was successfully conducted in a hybrid mode from May 28–29, 2026. The seminar was jointly organized by the Department of Hindi & IQAC of N.S.S. College, Pandalam, Guru
Vidyapeeth, Rohtak (Haryana), and Gina Devi Research Institute, Bhiwani (Haryana). HISTORY Department of History N S S College, Pandalam conducted a site visit for III DC History students to Krishnapuram Palace and Museum, Kayamkulam , Alappuzha on 27/01/2026. 43 students and two teaching faculty, Dr. Krishnakumar A and Dr. Suji David started their journey from the college campus by KSRTC booked bus at 10.00 a.m. and reached the site at 11.00 a.m. and collected information regarding the Palace history and heritage of Travancore Royal family.The site visit was highly informative and helped the students for their elective course - Introduction to Museology: Methods and Conservation Practices. The visit was an enriching and memorable experience and it provided the team with practical knowledge beyond text books. The team reached the campus at 3.30 p.m.
MALAYALAM Department of Malayalam conducted Madhav Gadgil Remembrance on 09/01/2026, as “Malayanma” . Prof. M. G. Sanalkumar, (Principal) inaugurated the function with a remarkable speech. The meeting was presided by Dr. R. Aswathy (HOD, Malayalam) With the participation of Dr. K. Mini, Dr. Suresh. M, Dr. Archana Harikumar, Dr. Murukesh. S. And Dr. Anila. G. Nair. Amruthababu delivered vote of thanks. B. A Malayalam students presented here and participated in discussion in connection with environment issues.
PHYSICS On 23rd March 2026, the PG & Research Department of Physics, NSS College Pandalam, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized ASTRAIOS–2026, a Telescope Making Workshop and Sky Watch programme. The event brought together students, astronomy enthusiasts, and faculty members for an engaging exploration of the wonders of the universe.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M. G. Sanal Kumar, Principal, NSS College Pandalam. The workshop was led by Sri. P. N. Thankachan, Secretary, Breakthrough Science Society Kerala, who shared his expertise and guided participants through the fascinating process of telescope construction and astronomical observation. ASTRAIOS–2026 provided a unique hands-on learning experience, enabling participants to understand the principles of optics, telescope design, and observational astronomy. The evening Sky Watch session offered attendees an opportunity to observe celestial objects and deepen their appreciation for the beauty and vastness of the cosmos.

POLITICAL SCIENCE The Department of Political Science organised an institutional visit to the High Court of Kerala, Ernakulam, on 19 January 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to how the judicial system functions and to deepen their understanding of legal procedures. During the visit, students observed court proceedings and gained insights into the roles of judges, lawyers, and court officials. The experience helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice
The Department of Political Science and IQAC of NSS College, Pandalam, in association with the Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala, organized a two-day National Seminar-“Parliamentary Sovereignty vs. Judicial Oversight: Safeguarding Freedom in Security Legislations,”on 5th and 6th February 2026 at the College Seminar Hall. The Model Parliament provided students with a platform to simulate legislative proceedings, enhancing their understanding of democratic institutions, debate, and decision-making processes while fostering civic responsibility and leadership skills.

Kumar T. K., Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, S.N. College, Cherthala, Alappuzha. The talk focused on the functioning of parliamentary procedures and their role in strengthening deliberative democracy in India. The Department of Political Science, NSS College Pandalam, organized the Prof. Ananthapadmanabha Pillai Memorial Lecture, along with an invited talk and endowment distribution, on 6 March 2026 at the College Seminar Hall. The programme began with a welcome address by Sri. Reghunath V., followed by the presidential address and inauguration by Prof. (Dr.) M. G. Sanal Kumar, Principal. Dr. P. Sukumaran Nair delivered the memorial speech, and the endowment was presented by Smt. Padmini A. Pillai, with Aysha Rosna as the awardee. The invited talk by Dr. Sajan Thomas (St. John’s College, Anchal) on “US- Israel attack on Iran: Could this spark World War III” offered insights into global politics.
SANSKRIT The Department of Sanskrit in association with IQAC N S S College, Pandalam conducted the Merit Day and invited talk on Bharatiya Stree Darsham for the Students and teachers. There were 45 participants from various departments of our college.The meeting began with prayer and acharyavandanam.Dr.Anandaraj G delivered the introductory speech,Principal Prof.Dr.M G Sanalkumar inaugurated and Presided over the Session. Dr.N Jayasree, Associate Professor and HOD, S N College,Kollam delivered the lecturer on “Bharatiya Stree Darsham”. On the same day, awards and felicitation were given to the rank holders and to the winners of the Ramayana Recitation Quiz Competition. During the meeting Our former HOD Dr.S.Radhamoniamma announced an endowment to be presented in every year for the students who obtained the highest marks.

There were 40 participants from the department. ZOOLOGY The PG and Research Department of Zoology, NSS College, Pandalam, organized "Remembering Madhav Gadgil" on 16 January 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Seminar hall. Dr. Vinod P., Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, delivered the welcome address and presidential address was delivered by Dr. S. Nandakumar, Head of the Department of Zoology, who highlighted the importance of Madhav Gadgil's contributions to ecology and biodiversity conservation. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M. G. Sanal Kumar, Principal, NSS College, Pandalam. The programme was conducted to honour and remember the valuable contributions of Dr. Madhav Gadgil to the fields of ecology and environmental conservation. On 23rd January 2026, the department organized an educational visit for the S4 FYUGP students to Thumpamon, near Pandalam, to observe the reconstructed skeleton of a Bryde's whale. The visit provided students with a unique opportunity to study the anatomy and skeletal structure of a large marine mammal and gain insights into marine biodiversity, whale biology, and specimen preservation techniques. The department organized a one-day field trip on 30/01/2026 to Thenmala Ecotourism for the S2 FYUGP Minor students. The programme provided students with an opportunity to explore biodiversity, understand ecological concepts in a natural setting, and gain practical knowledge through field-based learning. Dr. P. Vinod and Dr. K. M. Rajasree were the coordinators. A study tour for final year BSc and MSc students were also organised by the department from 04/02/2026 to 09/02/2026 to natural ecosystems, wildlife sanctuaries, elephant camps, bamboo forests etc as part of the curriculum to enhance students' practical understanding of ecology and wildlife conservation. Guruvandanam, a programme organized to honour and express gratitude to teachers, was conducted by the Department of Zoology on 13 February 2026 in the Seminar Hall. The event was held as a gesture of respect and appreciation for the teachers' invaluable guidance, dedication, and contributions to the academic and personal growth of students. The programme was presided over by Dr. Nandakumar S., Head of the Department of Zoology, Prof. Dr. M. G. Sanalkumar, Principal, N.S.S. College. Many distinguished former teachers of the Department of Zoology attended the Guruvandanam programme.

Punyam Poonkavanam- Thaneer Panthal 12 January 2026 NSS Units 42A & 42B organized a "Thanner Panthal" (a drinking water refreshment stall for pilgrims) under the Punyam Poonkavanam wing. It was conducted near Kaipuzha Temple.
Road safety week - Road traffic control 16 January 2026 NSS Units 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam, organized a traffic control programme on 16/01/2026 as part of Road Safety Week, in front of the NSS Boys and Girls High School, with the permission of the Pandalam Police Station. Vegetable Garden cleaning 27 January 2026 The National Service Scheme Units 42A and 42B of NSS College Pandalam conducted a cleaning and weeding session around the vegetable garden. The programme began at 2:00 PM and continued until 3:45 PM.

Eye Check-Up Camp The National Service Scheme Units No. 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam, in partnership with Precise Eye Hospital, Pandalam, hosted a Free Eye Check-Up Camp on 04 February 2026 ,that served over 210 beneficiaries. Chuvadochakal-Drama Workshop 13th February 2026 The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units 42A & 42B of NSS College, Pandalam, organized an insightful and highly engaging drama workshop on 13th February 2026.A major highlight was the training on how to learn and perform drama.The resource persons were Sri. Hariharan Unni, Excise Preventive Officer & Vimukthi Coordinator, and Sri. Suvarnan Paravur (Ithal Ithikkara).

After keen competition, Al Ameen from 3rd Year BA Economics clinched 1st place, while Prathyash from 1st Year B.Com Tax secured 2nd place. Food Stall for Kalolsavam 19 February & 20 February 2026 The National Service Scheme Units No. 42A and 42B , NSS College, Pandalam,organized two day food stall during the lively Arts Fest on 19th and 20th February 2026,the stall hummed with success, with every profit thoughtfully directed to the 'Chengathikku Oru Veedu' ( Home for friend) initiative.

World Obesity Day-Health Awareness 04 March 2026 National Service Scheme Units No 42A and 42B of NSS College Pandalam in coordination with IQAC organized a Health Awareness Class on 04/03/2026 in connection with World Obesity Day.The session was led by Prof. Dr. M.G. Sanal Kumar. Campus Cleaning 06 March 2026 On Friday, March 06, 2026, the National Service Scheme Units No. 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam conducted a dedicated campus cleaning drive. The session commenced in the afternoon with active field work by the volunteers.
One Day Workshop on Life Skills Education 07 March 2026 The Department of Sociology, NSS College Pandalam, in association with IQAC and National Service Scheme Units No 42A and 42B of NSS College, organized a One Day Workshop on Life Skills Education on 7th March 2026 at the Seminar Hall.The session was handled by Dr. Praveen Varghese Thomas, a TEDx speaker, social work professional, and psychodrama practitioner National Service Scheme Units 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam, observed International Women’s Day in a meaningful and creative manner. As March 8th is celebrated worldwide as International Women’s Day, the units initiated a seven-day social media campaign from 02 February 2026 - 08 February 2026 to honour and appreciate inspiring women. Each day was dedicated to highlighting women who have made significant contributions in various fields and who serve as role models for society. As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, the National Service Scheme Units No. 42A & 42B of NSS College Pandalam organized an online quiz through Google Form to raise awareness about the achievements and contributions of women around the world. As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, the National Service Scheme Units No. 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam organized a Selfie Contest titled “Selfie with Your Favourite Woman.” on 08 March 2026.The programme encouraged volunteers to share selfies with the women who inspire them the most, such as their mothers, teachers, friends, or
role models. Many volunteers actively participated in the contest by posting their selfies in the group. As part of International Women’s Day, the National Service Scheme Units No. 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam organized a Fancy Dress Competition on 09.02.2026. The programme was conducted to honor and remember the achievements and contributions of great women in society. Students from various departments actively participated in the event by presenting costumes representing famous women personalities. The National Service Scheme Units No. 42A and 42B of NSS College, Pandalam organized NSS Merit Day 2026 on 11th March 2026 with great enthusiasm and pride. The programme was conducted to honour the achievements of outstanding NSS volunteers. The felicitation ceremony was held. Dheeraj M was honoured for his participation in the Republic Day Parade 2026. Anjali Prasad and Prithviraj were recognized as the Best NSS Volunteers of 2024–25. Anagha and her team were also honoured for securing the first prize in Kadhaprasangam at the NSS State Kalolsavam. The National Service Scheme Units 42A and 42B of NSS College Pandalam organized an awareness class on “KAALATHINTE MATTAVUM ARIYENDE NIYAMANGALUM” on 19th March 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the college seminar hall. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the growing issues related to drug abuse and the importance of humanity in society.
The volunteers of NSS Units No. 42A & 42B, NSS College, Pandalam actively participated in the Weekly Palliative Care Training Programme held on 3rd March 2026 in collaboration with Kulanada Primary Health Centre. The National Service Scheme Units 42A & 42B of NSS College Pandalam, in association with Suchitwa Misson Pathanamthitta and in collaboration with the District Collectorate, organized a campaign on 30 March in the campus to promote the Green Protocol to be followed during the State Election 2026.Towards the end of the programme, signatures were collected on a flex banner dedicated to the Green Protocol as a mark of commitment. The National Service Scheme Units 42A & 42B of NSS College Pandalam organized a Paadheyam programme on 30th March 2026 at Holistic Foundation Charitable Society, Poozhikad. Around 30 freshly prepared food packets were distributed to the mothers and girls residing there. The volunteers actively participated in packing and serving the food with care.
NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC) ACTIVITIES On this day 01 COY NCC NSS College Pandalam conducted a Republic day celebration. The cadets started the program with a guard of honour. This was followed by a ceremonial flag hoisting. The cadets then saw a live broadcast from the republic day parade in New Delhi. This was followed by a cultural program where the cadets showed their unique skills and talents. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by SUO Adith Kunjumon. 01 COY NCC NSS College, Pandalam observed Black day on 13th February to honour the soldiers who lost their lives in the tragic 2019 Pulwama terror attack. Prof.Dr .M.G. Sanal Kumar, along with capt.Dr. santhosh sreedharan inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
NCC Unit of NSS College celebrated National Women’s Day on 10th March 2026. Dr. Seetha Vijaykumar, former convener of the Women’s Cell, NSS College, inaugurated the event. 01 COY NCC NSS College Pandalam conducted a Drug awareness campaign in collaboration with Kerala excise force and Vimukthi mission on 2nd February 2026. The program was inaugurated by Excise Inspector Abhijit K S. Dr Anil Kumar A G, the lead psychiatrist at NSS Medical Mission Hospital Pandalam and Dr Hariharanunni R S, Preventive Officer and Vimukthi coordinator graced the event.
