The event was composed of different categories such as the following: news writing, editorial cartooning, feature writing, column writing, sports writing highlighting the students critical thinking skills and collaborative in writing. Moreover, the activity aimed to enhance students’ journalistic skills creativity and teamwork it also served as a training of real press conference, where the students are expected to gathered information and organize ideas, and present accurate and well-structured articles. Through this experience, students where able to apply the principles of journalism they have learned in class. One of the participants shared, “The event was successful and helped us students to improve our confidence and teamwork. It also served as a good training for us future educators who need to be good speakers”. - Crismarie Jose Orlina This activity is not just about grades but its about preparing us to become effective communicators. ____________________________________ ____________________________________ The proposed change of the school calendar about the opening of classes in the month of June at Siquijor State College has sparked up some discussions for students, teachers, and parents. Since the latest school calendar has been applied for how many years, it may seem impractical for us to rush the shift back to the traditional June- March classes. We also have to consider other factors such as; readiness, learning conditions, and students' well- being Many support the traditional June- March classes because of the intensive heatwave for the month of April and May. It may hinder the students learning because of how uncomfortable the classrooms can be for the lack of ventilation and limited spaces. Recently, a war has broke out between Iran and Israel-US which let us questioning of the real reason why. Accept it or not, there decisions have greatly impacted our lives even if our own nation is miles away from the battle field. In addition ,many people have their lives lost and families gone. The world has been in constant watch of the events unfolding within the current society. Fear and uncertainty hovered around the heads of many as they cannot fathom the real reason why world leaders would bombing even the innocent civilians. While their finger grows red, their hands also became numb. The BSED-English third year continues to write like their future depends on it. As their trying to hold their pen, fighting against their drowsiness. Everyone had this the same thought; how can you hold to that one thread of hope if the weight of pressure and expectation is holding you back. Being an education student in a place where the people around you thinks that you are the smartest is hard. It is even harder when you are in a cage where the previous owner only brings hope the bacon every chance they got. Bringing the idea that the past English majors set the bar so high it is obvious that the burden of being the best was the only option of the BSED English third year this academic year. It was hard for them to say at least s they heard the everyday comparison between majors that they even proclaim that they are the cherry on top of the Department of the Teacher education. It was even worst when they discovered that the English majors always have their 100% passing rate in LET. They remember it was Christmas party when all of them— even their consultation adviser manifest that everyone will pass the LET when they encounter one “Nice man siya but at the same time, hadlok.” Jay Anne, their secretary, stated about their manifestation to passed the LET Can They Also Push Through Heavy Rocks? Throughout the tournament, players from different provinces showcased their skills, highlighting the rapid growth of pickleball in the country. Aside from the matches the event also featured food stalls, music and mini-games that entertained the crowds. Event organizers expressed their satisfaction with the turnout, noting that participation had doubled compared to last year. Last Sunday, April 10, at the City Sports Arena, Maria Santos captured the National Pickleball Championship title after defeating Jason Lee in a thrilling three-set final, drawing hundreds of spectators and marking one of the biggest pickleball of the year. Lee had entered the finals as the favorite, having won all his previous matches in straight sets. Santos remained calm under pressure, especially after losing the first set and gradually regained control of the match. In the semifinals, Santos secured her spot in the finals after a close and hard fought victory against a seasoned opponent. The deciding set proved challenging for Lee, who committed several unforced errors at crucial moments.
