Welcome to DigiFest Welcome to Pembrokeshire College's first ever DigiFest! Get ready to go on an exciting journey of digital exploration and innovation. On Wednesday, 5th July 2023, lecturers and business support staff will come together for a day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in this ever-evolving digital world. Whether you are seeking to enhance your understanding of digital tools, delve into the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), or explore the latest digital advancements, this conference has been designed to meet your needs. Throughout the day, you can expect a diverse range of sessions, including: workshops, demos, and seminars. These sessions will cover various aspects of digital tools, AI, and digital advancements, catering to the specific interests and needs of our attendees, no matter their role in College. You will have the opportunity to engage with experts, ask questions, and gain practical knowledge that you can implement in your day to day duties. Let's get Digital!

Need to Know Following the keynote speaker, coffee and pastries will be available in the Atrium. This time will give you an opportunity to network with your Faculty team and plan your day. Don't forget to pick up your bingo card from your manager!We are excited to have you as part of our DigiFest, and we want to make sure you have all the essential information you need to make the most of your day. Please take note of the following details: Every delegate will receive a bingo card. Your facilitator will stamp each session that you attend. Attending a minimum of 3 sessions will earn you some fun conference goodies! If you attend 5 sessions, you'll receive a special gift to celebrate your active participation. Keynote Speaker Dan Fitzpatrick is a renowned expert in AI and Chat GPT. With extensive knowledge and a passion for cutting- edge technology, Dan has contributed significantly to the development of Chat GPT for education, an advanced language model transforming human- computer interactions. His expertise in natural language processing and machine learning has pushed the boundaries of AI capabilities. As a captivating keynote speaker, Dan has shared his insights worldwide, engaging audiences with his ability to demystify complex AI concepts. He not only showcases the latest advancements but also highlights practical applications for driving educational development and enhancing user experiences. Dan Fitzpatrick Dan has recently written a book called The AI Classroom, this book will be available to be purchased after his session. We are honoured to have Dan Fitzpatrick as our keynote speaker at DigiFest. You can expect an inspiring session where Dan will share his deep insights, innovative ideas, and vision for the future of AI-powered educational interactions.

Kieran Mandell-Wilkins will be joining us to speak about the latest Promethean ActivPanel 9 boards. Kieran has been helping colleges with their IT and EdTech needs for 13 years and has a wealth of experience helping educators get the most out of their technology. Kieran will be showing us how the ActivPanel 9 can be used to enhance the teaching and learning experience and will introduce the features and applications that the panel offers. External Speakers Esam Baboukhan is an influential figure in the field of education. With expertise in educational technology and innovation, he is dedicated to transforming traditional learning methods. Esam's passion lies in creating engaging and inclusive educational experiences that empower students and prepare them for the challenges of the future. We will look at Coggle, a mind-mapping tool to explore initial project ideas; Padlet for organising research and Harvard Reference Generators as a time-saving tool for accurate referencing. Duration - 30 minutes 11:30 & 15:00 Wordwall - Charlie Alexander & Sarah Archer Wordwall is an online platform for lecturers to create activities for students using various templates. This session will show examples of how Wordwall is being used in different areas of the college and give you ideas of how you could use it in your teaching. Duration - 30 minutesThe Upper Atrium 11:30 & 13:30 Digital marking the easy way - Sharon Philpin How to mark digitally using 3 easy methods. Moodle assignments, Turnitin and OneDrive. Duration - 30 minutes Getting your time back with Technology - Morgan Lewis 12:00 & 14:00 Morgan will be sharing top tips and ideas from his Thrive Community for using video and recorded teaching sessions to help you 'get your time back with technology'. Duration - 30 minutes The Flipped Classroom - Sharon Lloyd 12:30 & 14:30 Discussing strategies to make students more independent learners, by reviewing possible methods to help them prepare in advance of the lesson. This allows the lesson time to be more active and student focused, rather than teacher led. This session is aimed at tutors whose students use web-based portfolios as a method of submitting coursework. Duration - 30 minutes 13:30 & 14:00 AI in education - Holly Roberts Following on from the morning’s keynote, this session will provide you with an opportunity to discuss what AI can do for you and your class. You will learn about the features of MS Forms and have a go at creating your own. We'll explore the functionality available, talk you through the lessons we learned while setting it up and look at ways that you can make a SharePoint site work for you and your team. Discovery lists can be used as a transition resource, extension activities, and supra-curricular content to support learners to go beyond their subject specifications. Come and join Naomi for this 30 minute session and take time away from your screen. Duration - 30 minutes Digital Wellbeing - Laura Hackett 14:30 & 15:00 Come along to our session to look at Digital Wellbeing and screen time, have a go at some apps and discuss how we can apply this with learners. Everyone is welcome.
